When the Moon Transits the 8th House

Blending with the Moon are the archetypes of Pluto/Scorpio.  Deep waters!  The 8^th is ruled by Pluto/Scorpio after all and so here we could have double feelings… like a double Moon … or at least double water!  Okay so what’s that mean?  Emotion—water is emotion—and the 8^th house with the Moon is like sink or swim!  I can write this with a certain amount of emphasis and… duh, emotion as the Moon is in my 8^th house today and Luna is rubbing shoulders with the South Node of the Moon as well as Uranus.  In my way of seeing it, this configuration could trigger past life (South Node) and subconscious (Uranus) issues no matter what house your Moon is in– the unconscious could become conscious with an emotional twist.  The universal alignment of a triple conjuction with SN, URANUS and MOON is happening for all of us right now–no matter what house your Moon is in, transiting Uranus and the South Node of the Moon are with it.  Anybody besides me having flashbacks today? 

8th House Lunar Transit

Well, let’s stick with the archetype of Luna in the 8^th for now in order that this post is consistent with the other Moon transit houses posts.  Merging with someone or some ‘thing’ is a typical desire in the 8^th.  Here’s an example.  I know someone who merges with information and excludes everyone and everything that does not fit with it.  This person will read a book and make it a bible and get really righteous about it and become so ‘at one’ with the book that she does whatever the book says, giving power over to it in the process of merging wholly with it.  People will do the same with other people too—obsessed with the beloved ‘other’ to the unreasonable exclusion of everyone else and won’t even listen to what others have to say about the beloved.  Well, that’s some of that Pluto ruler of the 8^th house and ruler of Scorpio archetype.   The person reading the book wants to become the book itself and/or the author and the relationship obsessed person wants to possess or be possessed.  Those things are possible in the 8^th house.  That type of merging fills an emotional need and the Moon is all about the emotions and needing to feel secure.

The 8^th house relates to joint finances and ‘other people’s money’ also so there may be some emotional triggers involving people you owe money to or vice versa.

This house is thought to relate to ‘the shaman’ and ‘the paranormal’ and then also ‘death’.  It is the house of rebirth and regeneration and the Moon moving through here would be helpful if you would work on self-healing efforts.  It’s deep; remember?  Why not go with it?  Use that depth for healing.  What kind of self-healing?  Answer:  any kind–physical, emotional or spiritual.  Luna will move out in a few days so why waste the available vibe when the Moon is there in the 8^th.

Key words with a lunar transit of the 8^th are Deepening, Healing and Undercurrents of energy.

The Moon moving through the 8^th will seek some type of deep bonding—just don’t toss everybody else out of your life when you bond with a person, place or thing!

The Moon here will want to go into some type of ‘self-protection’.  I am laughing at an example of this.  I feel ultra-sensitive now with Luna in my 8^th.  Someone in the woman’s locker room made a remark about how she could walk out without a bra because she was so flat chested but that I (being busty) could never do that.  I cringed but pointed out that I’d come down several bra sizes since I’d been working out and she ran with that claiming how her problem then must be that she works out too much. Yeah, I didn’t want to talk about it anymore and hurried up my locker room routine although knowing I’m sensitive today just smiled—she didn’t mean anything unkind I’m sure. There were two others in the shower that I thought best to avoid and walked out with my hair not dried just to… well, to do the “self-protection” thing that is typical of an 8^th house response.  “Moody isolation” goes along with the whole “self-protection” thing as far as an 8^th house archetype.  And the Moon wants to feel secure and safe and happy and therefore self-protective isolation due to heightened emotional sensitivity is the 8^th house Lunar response to that.

The 8^th house is an emotionally difficult house along with the 4^th and the 12^th.  These 3 houses have been given a name—the Terminal Triangle—which rules the disillusion of energy and physical death.  Yeah, there’s that D word that nobody wants to hear.

On a spiritual level the 8^th house will show us the struggle between soul and personality or between the spiritual life and the material life.

Also if there is any possibility of losing a loved one or even an X-loved one (my X-husband of 20 year and father of my 3-daughters  is in the hospital with severe heart and lung problems), this can lead to deep feelings of loss.

There also may be an emotional feeling involved with wishing to contact a loved one through mediumship when the Moon passes through your 8^th house—you may dream of a loved-one who has crossed over to the other side at this time as well.

A Moon in the 8^th is a highly sensitive placement or transit and when the Moon moves through your 8th house, it’s good to remember  and accept that death and loss on any level is a natural part of life.

Desire for Transformation – Mars sextile Pluto August 15, 2014 Astrology

MARS IS SEXTILE PLUTO….feels a little bit like the universe (in my version anyway) is holding it’s breath … like a long pause or something… so i turn to astrology to see what’s up and Mars is making a sextile to Pluto.

Keywords:  Mar/action  Pluto/transformation

But keywords never tell the whole story.  Mars represents the ‘conscious’ desires of the Soul... what we’re aware that we desire.

And Pluto?  Well, it’s retrograde.  That can relate to a very narrow focus in the soul.  We can see how our conscious desires easily (sextile) stimulate our soul in some way.  Can be confusing if you don’t know what you want–and around that desire, Pluto demands sacrifice.

What are you willing to sacrifice to fulfill the conscious desires?

This interpretation works for my own life right now.  Maybe the feeling of the long pause, holding of the breath, is because many other souls are also trying to work this out–the desire, the sacrifice that is demanded to fulfill it.

AND MOST IMPORTANTLY we have the very practical and conservative CAPRICORN where Pluto is currently living and very emotional MARS… fire planet in a water sign, Scorpio.

Emotional intense and impulsive Mars in Scorpio has a desire and its pretty easy to see the possibility of how Pluto is pointing out the realities of that desire; possibly saying GET REAL MARS… your desire is not practical.  Yes, transformation is in order, but be realistic.

This aspect is asking us to be clear about our objectives.  Any action taken now could result in permanent and far reaching change.  Therefore, Intense emotion must be balanced with practicality at least for now.

Both mars and Pluto are making an exact sextile today at 11° and the energy will be within the orb of intensity for the next 3 days or so…. now through the weekend this energy may be quite prominent in the psyche’.

 

ADDENDUM:  a further look at my transit chart shows the current Sun right on/crossing over  my Ascendant and with Sun ruling my chart (27° Leo rising), maybe that’s the feeling of the universe holding it’s breath… and now i go to celebrate a happy un-birthday today!

INTO THE WOODS TODAY!  It is November 1st, 2013 as this post is being written.

The Moon is only 4% lit, waning, moving toward New Moon (dark moon) Scorpio. There’s a Uranus-Pluto square today, exact square… it’s a deep, shadowed time… a time to go deeply within… Uranus represents the individual subconscious and Pluto represents the depth of the soul.

The Celts saw this as a sacred or “hallowed” time of year. It is a time for honoring those in spirit and communicating with spirit world–yet, everything in our American or Westernized culture goes against the natural call of spirit.

This is the time of year that the old religions would use divination to look to the future. Is it any surprise that opposing forces created a completely different genre around this time of year?

My soul is directing me to go into the woods, as far and deep as I can go– this I can do metaphysically if not physically. The rain here today supports going within, being quiet–I may even skip my swim in favor of extra meditation or maybe even a dance meditation.

(New Moon date: Nov 3rd, Sunday ~ a good day to do a New Moon ceremony ~ unless the Xtian associated merchandisers don’t trigger the tradition of greed and pull you into the stores and malls.)

Feeling pensive today and at the same time deeply grateful for the freedom that is available to me and of course…. oops!  Spoke too soon; was going to say grateful for the quiet but that’s okay, I can cover up the human’s voices of downstairs neighbors from India with music… so change that: feeling grateful for music sound players!
