Astrology!

Yes, well, I did put an exclamation point after that word in the heading.  I finally figured out how to add a “sign up for blog form” on my newer website (JoyStarPsychicAstro.com).  I’ve been told that the Goog likes websites that continually add content.  Therefore, I created a blog for astrology on that website but the WordPress theme I’d chosen for that website didn’t have a widget for that.  All that means in WordPress terms was that an RSS needed to be created and linked to it.  Sounds easy? It wasn’t–not for me anyhow.

Slow brain here (getting old) that’s not to computer savvy resulted in way too many hours invested to achieve the goal. But today?  Yes, today!  Finally, I have it (mostly) figured out.  I signed up for my own astrology blog post and it actually arrived in my email box!  Thus the reason for the exclamation point in the header subject.

Below I have included are some of the recent astrology posts that were part of my herculean efforts.   I hope someone out there will find them useful.

Goddess Ceres in Astrology – A Personal Exploration

Originally known as the Goddess of Agriculture; thus the wheat in her arms and the harvesting sickle astrological symbol

Both men and women have a fathering function symbolized by Saturn.  The Moon symbolizes the maternal function, as well as Ceres.  The asteroid centers in my psyche are perhaps newly energized or activated in that I’ve been thinking (and writing) about the goddesses Juno, Pallas and Vesta.  Today, I am turning toward Ceres so see what I can learn about this energy as it applies to my life and to incorporate some knowledge.  That, then, is the point or focus of this post today.  Ceres.

Here’s one archetype of Ceres (AKA Demetris drawn from the mythology of Persephone, her missing daughter take by Pluto). Parent-child complexes are associated with Ceres.  C.G. Jung wrote, “Every mother contains her daughter in herself and every daughter her mother; every woman extends backward into her mother and forward into her daughter.”  On a practical level, in a horoscope, the location of Ceres points to information about the mothering function especially with regard to issues of attachment and freedom.

According to mythology, Ceres was unwilling to allow Persephone to have freedom of choice and it is said that Persephone was overly attached to her mother.  Therefore, natural as well as un-natural nurturing are archetypes of Ceres.  The House and Sign of Ceres in a natal chart can indicate how we feel about nurturing and maybe even how we nurture ourselves.

As with all planets in a chart, aspects to those points modify them a great deal; therefore in a chart, one must look to the connections Ceres is making to other parts of the psyche.

I’m going to look at my own Ceres in my birth chart now to see what I can determine in my effort to expand this center in my consciousness.  My Ceres is in my 9^th house, in Taurus, retrograde squaring Mars and Pluto and opposing Venus and Mercury.  That’s a mouthful.

Ceres-Pluto aspects relate to the comings and goings and sharing of children.  That makes sense in correlation to mythology since Pluto abducted Cere’s daughter Persephone.  My life has included a divorce and the sharing of our three daughters—I can see how that particular aspect would fit me personally.

Ceres, in my natal chart, (9^th house/Taurus) carries the signature of nurturing through the Earth (nature) and the physical body (in my case, exercise).  Taurus is a sign that relates to (Taurus rules 2^nd house) of self-worth and self-reliance; therefore, when I provide materially and physically for myself, a high degree of self-acceptance is my reward. As a side piece to this, Aries is on the cusp of my 9^th house and Ceres squares it’s ruler Mars which adds that physical exercise piece – the more aggressive the exercise, the more I like it.  These are qualities (via aspects, house, and sign) that modify the meaning of my natal Ceres.  Much more could be said but that’s what jumps out at this moment.

The Mar/Aries piece of it relates to feeling free and independent feeds my psyche in a positive way and Ceres is expressing that in my chart.

The 9^th house, where my natal Ceres is located, relates not only to freedom but the pursuit of knowledge and truth.  The deep feeling of accuracy there is also expansive—it is so very true that study of philosophy and spiritual truths are like a divine mother nurturing me!

Now my intention is to address the oppositions to Ceres from Venus and Mercury in my natal chart.  These are oppositional, of course naturally are located in my 3^rd house of communication.  (For new astrologers, we come to this as 3 opposes 9 in the house system).

Mercury rules the 3^rd house and is therefore strong here.  (Mercury is in Scorpio and Venus is at 29° Libra).  Just a bottom line interpretation here includes this: the nurturing of others through communication that is harmonious while also ‘soul-deep’.  This is my work, my profession as a psychic.  And it is how (I hope) that I nurture others and when being paid for my services expands the possibility of being able to be self-reliant via being nurtured in return).

Just as a final note about the opposition aspect energy:   I see the opposition aspect as energy that merges with one another rather than pulling apart or opposing in a negative way.  That’s how I’d like to see the energy that is an opposition aspect in a chart and often attend to the more positive slant on life in other ways, too, when possible.

Just a mini-vent here.  In astrology  (and what gives it a label of inaccuracy at times) is when one attempts to single out one planet in one sign in one house and make a single determination of meaning.  One must take in the entire chart as a whole into consideration,  otherwise, it can be so very misleading and confusing. –End Vent

This is much more than was intended to write on Ceres today. I have a client in a few moments and must end this now.

When the Moon transits the 2nd and 3rd Houses

What is the purpose or benefit of knowing the houses in astrology and which house your Moon is in at any given time of the month? Divination and Divine Timing — to know astrology is to have a handle on that, as least to some extent.  Yes, the Moon moves quickly and goes through each house once a month.  What is a house?  It’s an area of life.  And the Moon relates to our sense of happiness, feelings of security.  If we work in harmony with astrology, we know ourselves and what times of the month are typical for particular feelings to surface or to be more prominent or prevalent than other times.  Why not work with that knowledge—be in cooperation with the natural energy of the Moon and the Psyche and Life Itself?

Examples?  Why try to deal with money issues when the Moon is in your 11^th house?  You natural inclination would be to perhaps visit with friends or do other 11^th house things.  Suppose you have a health issue and you want to know what day this month would be good to make the doctor appointment?  When the Moon transits the 6 house would be typically the best time because the emotional/feeling nature will be in harmony with that.

I found this system valid for myself when beginning to notice one time of the month—every month—when I wanted to just disappear and not speak to anyone!  Whenever this happened, this feeling, I’d look to see where the Moon was.  Each and every time it was in my 12^th house.  Yeah, I began to see a pattern.  So why not work with it more consciously? Thus, my reason for these posts on the Moon’s monthly transits through the houses!

Now that the method behind this madness has been revisited, my 2^nd and 3^rd house have recently had a visit from the transiting Moon.

We look first of all to the archetype of the house itself.  The 2^nd house (ruled by Venus and Taurus) relates to money, what is valued, self-worth, self-reliance and the 3^rd house (ruled by Mercury and Gemini) relates to communication, conversation, left brain activity, thinking, business, short trips, correspondence, neighbors and siblings.

As mentioned in the previous post about the 1^st House, there are other influences affecting how that Moon is going to express—namely, the other planets and signs in your particular house and aspects the Moon may be making to other planets in the chart.  But let’s stick with the basics for the purpose of this blog post.

MOON TRANSIT OF THE 2^ND HOUSE

When the Moon transits through your 2^nd house, it’s a good time to pay attention to money concerns and where you stand with your monthly budget.  If you deal with that, you will find it to be very satisfying and boost your feelings of security.  This is a good time to come up with ideas to bring in extra cash as well—the Moon’s energy will naturally be focusing your psyche in this area anyway, so go with it.

A 2^nd house lunar transit is a good time to review why you are worthy and contemplate what it is you really value and how you offer value to the world—this type of pep talk will enhance your feelings of security and happiness.

Review your resources, think of all the opportunities you have to provide for your self and how you are doing so; this, too, will help your mood.  Remind yourself how you have proven yourself ‘to’ yourself, no matter what others may think.  Think of everything you have achieved and then pay your bills knowing whatever you send out returns to you multiplied—make this the mantra.

Personal Note:  When the Moon moved through my 2^nd house a few days ago, I looked at my own money situation and this is something that is always on the mind anyway.  Why? Because my BIRTH MOON is in my 2^nd house so this is a life-long consideration for me.  My work was busy on the 2^nd day that the Moon moved through my 2^nd house money came to me from another source as well.

MOON TRANSIT OF THE 3^RD HOUSE

What makes you happy at this time? What brings you feelings of security and comfort?  Well, it has to do with learning something, teaching something and speaking, finding the voice somehow.  You may be sensitive to tones in other people’s voices at this time and the tone of your own voice may be very self-revealing when Luna visits your 3^rd house.  Your curiosity could be high and you may find that Google is your best friend and your mood would promote research of some kind—data collection.  Those things could be very satisfying and the Moon energy would encourage that.  Speaking up for yourself, saying what’s on your mind—this too would be comforting for you.  This is the time of the month to do it—it will feel great to say it like it is!

You may feel inclined to make phone calls and answer Emails and connections with neighbors or siblings would be gratifying at this time.

Personal Note:  My curiosity involved something more or less physical—I wondered if I could start jogging but the Moon was right on top of Mars and it activated my inner warrior who wanted to “Run, Forrest, Run”. [Quote from movie:  Forrest Gump/Tom Hanks] Also, I did communicate via Email at length with several students.  I’ll also mention that I did receive more than usual amount of Emails from people asking about the psychic class.  Also, I felt very drawn to go to the library several times as the Luna ran through my 3^rd house, but just never made it there.  If I had, I’d have really enjoyed it or the Moon would have supported that emotionally.  Then again, I’m always happy at the Library.  A reason for that is that my birth Mercury, ruler of the 3rd is IN the 3rd–so library ‘stuff’ is strong with me anyway, all the time.  See how this works? 

I hope my sharing my own lunar transits are helpful to the reader and that my posts of the Moon’s monthly movement through the houses are helpful and have piqued the reader’s interest in the valuable subject of astrology.

It is, in my opinion, such a valuable thing to know to aid in self-understanding but also in understanding others and working in harmony with them.
