Last Quarter Moon Phase October 2014

Last Quarter Moon Phase-2

The current energy:  The head/Sun squares the heart/Moon… well, that’s one (of many) ways to say it.  Today the Moon is in it’s Last Quarter Phase (270° to 315°).  This phase started at 1° Leo and enters  the last phase, the Balsamic at 1° Libra and then the next New Moon is 1° Scorpio.  These phases happen every month of course as the Moon moves through it’s monthly cycle.  So where are we now exactly as far as what we can expect will occur based on our New Moon intention from the last New Moon when we planted our seed and conceived something during the dark of the Moon last?

What is this phase all  about?  Well, we start with the fact of the square that the Moon and Sun are making and that brings frustration, uneasiness, the energy being at odds, conflicting.  The Moon wants one thing and the Sun another and both must be resolved–but differently.

Dane Rudhyar calls this phase “Crisis is Consciousness” — and I think too “crisis in belief”.  Internal conflicts, therefore, mark this phase.  Do we deserve what we asked for during the New Moon?  Is it possible to achieve? Are we in harmony with our own ideals?  –these types of questions could be possible now.  I can see this within my own self as I look back to the start of the cycle (Sept. 23/24) at the last New Moon and all that has happened over these last 3 week and I feel myself having to grapple with a few things internally.  Here in this phase we should be careful that we don’t create a pattern called “the undoing of the doing”.  We must not take things for granted and undermine our own creative efforts and all the while try to understand our own actions.

We are likely to seek a deeper cosmological understanding–again, crisis in belief.  We begin to feel the pull of Source Energy now pulling us into the next phase.  We may be confused about what to believe and the value system that we associate with those beliefs.

What you believe determines your values which in turn determines your lifestyle relative to your beliefs.  There can be a crisis in lifestyle and a crisis in identity as well.  An inner question such as “Am I living my life according to my own values?”    Something in consciousness is being re-polarized so that a new foundation of awareness can occur–the soul strives for a new foundation!

There is society and then there is ‘me’–values may differ.  We feel the new cycle and want to move into that but we are finishing up something in this cycle that must come first—thus, the frustration.

the Psychic in this last quarter moon phase

The psychic, the sensitive individual,  feels the longing to go home, to withdraw, and seeks solitude more frequently in this lunar phase. Thoughts of what is left behind as a legacy are typical of this phase,  And so perhaps in this lunar phase the psychic professional works on that class, that book, those teachings or the project of one kind or another.  There is still engagement with the outer world but it is like the autumn if we equated this to a season.

The Moon wanes and the monthly cycle ends and now the psychic starts to review the month, the work and perhaps takes inventory of successes and perceived failures and maybe considers how to improve or change in some way.

There is a sense of wanting to finish unfinished business and so reviewing connections with others perhaps by checking over Email to be sure everything was addressed… just anything to tidy things up because subconsciously and intuitively the feeling of needing to withdraw again is nearing.

So there is a feeling of culmination and completion here and shedding the skins that were worn in the world this time/this month.  The time is coming again soon to enter the cave once again where perhaps only a loincloth and meditation beads are needed—perhaps not literally but at least metaphorically.

No matter what your role in life or what profession you are in the emotional nature responds to an important principle or value that you feel you must uphold.  However, it is important to be flexible about this because as you feel like you would like to reform the whole system of society and the world to be in harmony with your own ideals, there is a need to be reasonable.  We can only do our best in our own corner of it working within the system (and societal values) that are already in place while being in harmony with our own system and values at the same time.

And we should remember that we are talking about the Solar-Lunar factors… the Sun relating to the Moon.  We’re talking head (Sun) versus heart (Moon). The purpose and outer persona (Sun) and the evolving emotional and soul dynamic (Moon) and we started this phase with the 270° square.  I wrote a post a while back about the difference between the energies of the Sun and the Moon which may be good to review:  CLICK HERE.

This phase is like a sweet sorrow.  Like sensing a return to the homeland after being away.  Time now feels even more precious because we know something is soon going to change but before it does we ask ourselves, “Have I been doing my best?”    These types of questions permeate our gradual return to the inner world as we move through this phase.  Longing increases to return to the dharmakaya, the place of divine truth.  We remember the “Cosmic Joke” as some say and we focus on today, now, and …. well, I just now realize that this very morning, I made a Facebook post that epitomizes this:

“In our lives there’s ‘this n’ that’ happening and then there’s the other ‘not’ happening and then again there’s the ‘meanwhile’… deep within; the eternal presence in the eternal now is meanwhile. Always meanwhile at the core of us, there’s exists, always, the divine connection meanwhile and the practice of the virtue of patience.”

There’s a sense of autumn about this phase and an acceptance of the imperfection of our lives, our values, our beliefs and those of the others and the outer world of society.  We can almost laugh about it realizing how little it all really matters in the end.   Yet, we still know we have to participate in it and so our grip loosens.  We accept what we haven’t done and may not get to do and we also see that tendency in other people–that which has not been accomplished not only in this monthly lunar phase but in life generally.  Yet, despite this, we’re okay with the imperfections of Samsara.

We know we cannot always be right, have everything we want, remain young all the years of our life but…

we must be very careful now not to become cynical.  We should let go of all judgments of ourselves and others–that’s all irrelevant anyway and we can get a glimpse of that now.

Don’t snatch defeat from the jaws of victory

We do not want to repeat the past — this for sure is what we know and we must be careful not to “snatch defeat from the jaws of victory”.

It is important not to judge circumstances now, no matter how things appear!  It’s best to say “I have no idea…” right now rather than to draw an erroneous conclusion about anything or anyone.  Enlightenment, after all, in the end is knowing that you don’t know all that you thought you knew!

Next up:  Balsamic Phase at 1° Libra starting on Tuesday the 21st.  And then we go thought the cycle again, so you can come back and start again with the New Moon phase entry on this blog and let the Moon phases guide you through another month.

Jupiter just moved into Leo – Time to give your new creative self-expressive purpose some real legs!

Jupiter in Leo

You’ve got to know what it is!  Our Sun is just about to move right over Jupiter (last 2 weeks of July 2014).  Pay attention this next week as the Sun moves closer to Jupiter and goes right over it!  (Exciting stuff!)

Jupiter says, “Go big or go home”.  Well, that’s what I’ve heard anyway–and it makes sense.  Jupiter is a big planet and on an astronomical level it’s pretty protective of earth too, deflecting a lot of space rocks that would otherwise hit us.  No wonder it has the reputation of good fortune as one of it’s archetypes.

Leo is associated with that 5th house ruled by Sun and is all about creative self-expression and purpose, special gifts and talents.  Each of us has something within us that nobody can do better!  And that something is likely getting tickled out of us or we’re getting flashes or insights about that creative purpose right now.

If you knew the house of your natal Jupiter (where it was the day you were born)  this could help us understand your own juices a bit more and of course what house Jupiter is moving through in your chart right now that could help with more detail too.  But chances are you already know what it is and an astrologer could simply validate it for you and help give you some added kick-start encouragement.

Belief and opportunity are key words in association with this recent energy shift in our psyche that is associated by Jupiter’s recent move into the Leo part of the star systems.  As above–so below.

Oh–wait!  Let’s add the word “fun” to the mix.  So think about it…  its probably been on your mind for a while anyway and now you see the opportunity to give this project some real legs.

Jupiter in Leo for you could very well involve the following… here are some HINTS:

  • it’s big
  • it involves your purpose here
  • it’s expressive and creative
  • nobody can do it like you can
  • its going to be really fun to do
  • it’s an opportunity
  • you’ll need to really believe in it
  • and it’s going to help protect you here or enhance your survival
  • you will use your right brain and intuition
  • it could involve teaching or philosophy in some way, perhaps writing (Jupiter rules the 9th house so all those archetypes are part of it)
  • it’s likely to get you the attention you’ve been wanting for the purpose of your soul’s evolution
  • teaching, studying, philosophy, writing (all Jupiter associations with the 9th house it rules) and traveling afar
  • divination could be a huge part of it since Jupiter rules intuition and right brain energy and Leo will give it a creative purpose

If you know astrology, just combine Sun/Jupiter/Sag/5th house/9th house and then look at your own chart–where’s your Jupiter in Leo, meaning what house–what area of life is this going to awaken or include as part of this energy shift into this enlivened creative self-expressive new purpose?

It’s going to somehow involve “relating” to others in some way since the transiting North Node (our evolving soul’s growth, evolutionary intention) is in the sign of Libra so all those Libra qualities are likely to be part of it.  Venus ruling Libra and Taurus is therefore involved in the mix.  Beauty, harmony, survival, security–those archetypes are likely part of this package too.

(Aspiration:  May this little post be encouraging, informative and helpful for those who come upon it. )

On the Life Path: Boulders, Vows, Evaluating Goals, Tarot 7 of Swords, Wood Bethony, and Buddhism

Imagine standing at the edge of a forest and you want to reach the other side...
THE FOREST OF LIFE!  Imagine standing at the edge of a forest and you want to reach the other side…

Imagine standing at the edge of a forest, and that you want to reach the other side.

Would you walk a straight line through it? Or, might the path meander in every possible direction, around boulders, between trees, along a stream, feeding the deer, conversing with the owls, and roasting marshmallows?

Yeah, every possible direction, because this is how things are in a forest.

Tree!
    The Universe

[the clever lines above received by email this morning from tut.com]

I’d just been thinking such a similar set of mental phrases.  I sure am going the long way around wherever I’m going — and I quit trying to second-guess the ultimate destination a while back.  I adapted the attitude of one of my teachers who said, “… you go where you’re sent in life.”

Today I am also thinking of the Bodhisattva  vow:  May I attain Buddhahood for the benefit of all sentient beings.  May my action bodhichitta grow

Yeah, okay.  I’m doing my best–so don’t laugh!  And I seem to be meandering around a few boulders in the forest of life  this year in general and this week most recently, but as my grandmother used to say “little by little” progress is made. So T-minus 4 days to take off!  The next move is in 4 days and some final cleaning took place here in the kitchen yesterday and the skin on my fingertips are a  bit raw to prove it.  Never have gotten used to cleaning using rubber gloves.  Clumsy and too much time taking them on an off as I’m pulled in other directions while cleaning–take answering the phone  for one example.

Where is the ultimate destination?  I don’t know!  But I’m willing to let that be okay.  I’ve located a number of possible paths and applied for the hiking permit (so-to-speak, speaking symbolically) and we’ll see what opens up.

Meanwhile, I have two small mirrors to un-anchor from the wall and some things to drive over to storage before the end of the week, aside from that, I don’t know what more I can do as I’ve always applied that girl scout motto:  BE PREPARED

My trip to the rental office yesterday was productive in that I was able to tie up the loose ends and end the confusion about final notices and paperwork:  there was a change of staff right in the midst of the apartment change.  (Long story–don’t ask.)  All’s well that ends well and I’m ending my association with this particular apartment about as well as I can do it.

So on to the next adventure, around this boulder here in 4 days.  Maybe then I will see more clearly what’s ahead.  I think sometimes my vision is blocked for good reason–perhaps I’m being spared in some way and that’s a blessing.

As I sometimes do, let me pull a card and ask (reaching for my tarot cards)… let me ask what is ahead around this current boulder, perhaps the card will show me?  (I do love divination! but then I’m a psychic after all and should, right?)

For clarity sake, the boulder represents the current move into the new apartment with my sister.  What is beyond that?  At least for the near future–this is my question.  Near future representing let us say the next 6 months.  So here we go…  asking for just one card, just to get a feel for the energy beyond the T-minus 4 days….

7 of swords wood betony collage

Well, it’s the 7 of Swords.  Well first thing I get here is “confrontations being avoided” — and that may be a good thing.  The herb associated with this card is WOOD BETONY which some wear to avoid evil spirits.  That’s a bit dramatic.  Let’s just say that Wood Betony can help one release fearful visions of the future… that I’ll go with.   It helps with one’s nerves when used medicinally.  There’s some reference to hidden intentions and deceptions.  Sounds like honesty all around will be important on the other side of this boulder.

The affirmation for this card [according to the book] is:  “With a peaceful heart, I gather information and truth for my plans and goals.”

This card involves “keeping something to yourself”  and being a loner–like those blackbirds who keep to themselves and bow and then fly away when they see other birds.  (Just this past week many blackbirds have been coming to the feeder–highly unusual)  Blackbirds stay to them selves so much that it is said when you actually see two blackbirds together at once, it’s a good omen.

So this “keeping to one’s self” sounds like blackbird medicine advice.  This card is also about preferring solitude–and that of course is no secret about me.  This will likely not change is what the card is indicating.  This card involves “separation from others”.   And further, this card relates to self-reliance and using one’s own wits to solve problems and resources.

Boy O boy!  The feeling that I’m getting here is that my life won’t really change all that much from what it is now.  That “loner” and “self-reliant” energy that I carry (that blackbird energy) will not change.  That’s a comfort to me.

This card also carries a meaning that relates to “running away” in some way—and that has to do with confrontations being avoided in this case (or so it feels).  There’s a testy teenager who will be part of the household and since this card applies to my question about what is around the corner for me, the avoidance of confrontations (bow and fly away; blackbird energy) may be what this card indicates.  (Astrologically speaking:  If you’re an astrologer, this girl is a Leo Moon and Aries Sun with Saturn (in Aries)  in the 7th, Virgo rising–3rd house Pluto.  My Sun and Moon are  in her 1st house within orb of her Chiron.   Her Moon is on my 12th house Mars/Pluto/Saturn  stellium.  My sister is an very early Leo Sun and Aquarius Moon affecting her daughter’s 5th House Uranus.)  Yeah, that 7 of Swords and Blackbird loner stuff …. probably good advice.  A big message of the 7 of Swords has to do with the need to be calm and to keep things to yourself–I so get that.

I may re-evaluate my plans or goals once I get on the other side of the boulder too but meanwhile, I will meander just  as I have been through the forest of life and enjoy whatever is beyond the boulder or around the curve in the path.   Meanwhile, I will do my best to hold to my Bodhisattva vows and the 37 Practices.

I also may totally plan a get away camping trip for a week  or so in the mountains too, providing I have the increase in $$ to do so.   Anybody want to order a reading or sign up for my class?  🙂   Help!  LOL

Part of the Vow:

Just as all the previous Sugatas, the Buddhas
Generated the mind of enlightenment
And accomplished all the stages
Of the Bodhisattva training,
So will I too, for the sake of all beings,
Generate the mind of enlightenment
And accomplish all the stages
Of the Bodhisattva training

This includes practice the “six perfections”:  giving, moral discipline, patience, effort, concentration and wisdom in order to attain enlightenment for the sake of all beings.

Flashbacks and Indians are Moving (Yay)

looking out windowFLASHBACKS… no, never did LSD, so that’s not this.

But while just sitting upon my bed looking out the window a little bit ago… a familiar feeling came.  I was sick a lot around the ages of 6 to 8 years old,  as I recall.  Mumps once and maybe either chicken pox or measles (I’m pretty sure measles but maybe both) because I remember the rash and all the adults getting excited and missing weeks of school.  I had my tonsils out too; but mostly I remember looking longingly out the window and wanting to go outside just like I did when I awoke this morning to the uncouth Indian voices  —that last part being normal fare around here.

There’s a nice breeze today, its 60 degrees and I’d love to go out for a hike in the woods—to visit the Lady of the Lake.  But the adult in me knows better, says no like my mother did back when I had the mumps and measles and I am left with that familiar feeling not knowing what to do with it but blog it.

It has been many-a-moon (in fact many years of moons) that I’ve been this congested.   I woke this morning, as I have many mornings after their Indian hookah (or whatever)  parties, with a migraine.  Yeah, I just put the 2 + 2 together on that one!  Same deal last weekend and the one before—open eyes and head pounds.  The smell of whatever they put in their pipes is nauseatingly disgusting and finds its way up through the floor and walls. Even though I’ve shut and covered the heating vents, when they put on their central air unit, it pumps the smelly residue right on up here.  And it wakes me in the night.  After today, only 44 more days of this; they move out on the 31st of December.  Happy New Year! Yay!

Oh, by the way,  I can’t prove they smoke hookah but the maintenance guys say most all of them do and I’ve smelled actual … well, you know that, “OMG what the heck is that burning?” , but I think after a while they changed it up a bit to something different.  Maybe this would be hard for you to believe, but REALLY, I’ve better things to do then speculate about it, although blogging about it generally does help release some levels of frustration.

My lungs and sinuses are not real happy, nor is my head right now.  They know I’m sick up here in the apartment above them—they must hear me coughing throughout the night just as I hear their coughing!  Despite that, they had a loud and in my opinion grossly bad-mannered boisterous party last night.  Just lovely! They know I’d hear every word and yelp above them!

Me as a little girl
Me, as a child around the time of mumps and measles

My family has been dropping off food and medicine—because going out into the marketplace with one of my coughing jags wouldn’t be pretty, not that I couldn’t do it—but it’d be embarrassing is all.  Yesterday, finally liquid Nyquil and a vaporizer came through the door and I was just about to finally sleep (something for the previous two nights I’d not been able to do due to coughing) and just as the cough calmed, they started with the hookah and loud voices and hyena laughter—the female Indian is really good at that!  You know that there are such things as pig calling contests, right?  Well, if they had hyena laughter impression contests, she’d be the world champion!

The laughter and talking is highly nervous and hyper sounding—that’s the hookah hyena laugh and you want to talk about speed?  They already talk a mile-a-minute as is, but on hookah (or whatever stimulant they obviously use), well, it’s hard to describe.  And I don’t want to talk about it.

So anyway,  I am too sick to go out and play and mostly too sick to work too although yesterday—bless her heart!—I had a very patient astrology client put up with my hacking cough and my loss of voice for an hour session. Thank you Janie!

I had to cancel and reschedule the other  session that I’d planned to do yesterday; I really don’t like having to bump clients into the next week but I’ve got to get over this cold or clearing or whatever we want to call it.  It started last weekend when I spoke to the Hyena impersonator about the smell of garlic (so strong I could taste it in my mouth) – I got a few things off my chest at that time  although we’re talking about a conversation that lasted less than 2 minutes.

I knocked on their door with my apartment reeking of garlic and with the taste of it in my mouth—anyway, the very next day I started with a sore throat.

Their cooking smells, second hand hookah stink (if that nauseating smell is what I think it is) and germs make their way up to me way too easily—a compliment to the architect and builder of this complex!  May he have a long and happy laugh—which is sarcasm!

The hyena Mumbai lady and her equally obnoxious partner (the pants-on-fire dude; see previous posts) are letting it rip today; shouting at the top of their lungs and minds—are they trying to goat me into coming down for another confrontation?  Sorry, too sick—don’t have the energy.  Besides, I approached them both once –no actually 3 times now and got nowhere—it’s like talking to a wall.

I want to go out of this apartment today—get out of here; but to escape where?  I don’t trust myself to drive being under Nyquil’s influence and I don’t want to make my family sick.  I joke with my grandson who is the one sent to the door with meds or food.  Not wanting him to get sick I will say to him:  “okay, son, set the bag down, put your hands in the air, then cover your mouth and back away slowly.”   Nobody in our family is sick–just me and the Mumbai’s.

One benefit to being here near my family versus being alone in the mountains is that my family helps me out at times like these.  I love my family.

There’s no doubt in my mind that my downstairs neighbors are being more obviously and purposefully vocal since they were told that their lease is not being renewed—apparently it was that.  At first, I thought it was their choice to move.  Apparently not,  or they wouldn’t be acting out the way that they currently are this past week!  The female right now as I type this is singing loud at the top of her lungs,  while she grinds up something in the blender—I suspect tobacco.  They’ve been loud and ugly plenty before,  but its all been escalating since last week.

I am going to do more writing more today  — no, not about this.  I’m going to utilize a blog topic that I’ve had in mind and convert it into a newsletter which is only 4 days late now!  Best get at it.  Maybe a movie later, I don’t know.

I’m stuck inside just like when I was a little girl – oh, and idea:  maybe I can download a good book on kindle later.  I’m very good at holding concentration now with music on and sleeping soundly with music on.  I’ve learned to tune my mind to IT in avoidance of their hyena yelps and ‘faster-than-a-speeding-bullet’ talking.

I just want to add that I totally don’t buy it!  You know?  I mean the argument about “It’s our culture to be loud, obnoxious and cook stinky food and not care about anybody else”.  Nope.  Don’t buy it.  Why? Because IN FACT they are NOT in their culture anymore—if they want to be, then why not return to India?  No excuse in my book!  Their right to act out and create stinks ends with my right to have reasonable quiet living environment and to breathe clean air. I wonder if a lawyer would have any kind of case in this situation?  Anyway…

I think the world map of astrology well, on a geodetic map… if I recall India is aligned with Leo which would account for the self-centeredness of my Indian neighbors.  I could be wrong about the Geocentric map Leo part—that’s not my forte’ astrologically but as for the rest, I stand behind it.  Only someone who lived in my apartment and walked my shoes knows what a year it’s been!  But the end is near! 44 more days.  Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you.

Don’t we all want our mother to protect us and to fight our battles and take care of us—especially when we don’t feel well?  My own mother was not particularly nurturing,  but I do still call out for my mother on days like these–even if the response isn’t forthcoming, I think it’s human nature too want that nurturing and protection at times.

There is Divine Mother or Goddess or Kwan Yin or Tara that represent that same energy.  Sometime children act out (just as my Indian neighbors are) because they want their mothers attention or nurturing.  Today, I will try harder to be patient with my boisterous Indian neighbors by imagining their noise being their cry for their own mother.  I thought at first that they chose to leave this apartment and rent another either here or elsewhere but judging from the recent escalation of their voices and parties etc., it may not have been their choice at all.

I wonder if a lawyer would have a case to make about the air exchange in this place.  None of my family is sick but down below me they are coughing and hacking like myself — it was the same way last year but I don’t recall the cough and cold being this severe.  Likely they are blaming me as I am blaming them for the germ exchange when really if fingers are pointed in this case, it should be toward the apartment complex itself.

I am not interested in that–only that they are moving! And for that,  I am most grateful.  Funny.  I went in the very day they made arrangements to move to ask how i could possibly get out of this lease–do i have any options I said?  And the rental girl said, they came in this morning and finalized their lease, they’re moving.  There was someone in her office and I could tell she didn’t want to discuss it further.  So…

Will it be to another apartment here in this complex? or elsewhere?  I don’t care as long as they are no longer under my feet!  amen!  and thank you Divine Mother!

And now my coffee has gone cold and my throat seem to be calling for something warm to soothe it so I bring us to end to end of this chapter.

FEED YOUR SUN TO ENHANCE YOUR LIFE FORCE AND TO FEEL STRONG, HAPPY, ENERGIZED

FEED YOUR SUN TO ENHANCE YOUR LIFE FORCE AND TO FEEL STRONG, HAPPY, ENERGIZED

Feeding and Energizing Your SUN!
Feeding and Energizing Your SUN!

The Sun Sign is like a key which enables us to turn it to reach a particular channel of consciousness that vitalizes our essence physically, mentally and spiritually.  A weak Sun enables us to fall apart easily, feel physically weak, disoriented and depressed.  We need the Sun, the Light to energize our heart–our spirit here. When our Sun is healthy we feel strong and able to handle the challenges of life.  We should each know what it is that nourishes us and helps us feel our own power—and astrology can help us.  We should know and study the sign of our Sun and that’s the reason for today’s post!

I will list each Sun sign and a line or two about what you need to nourish your body, mind and soul to keep yourself healthy and energized—we should know how to feed our Sun; how to bring more Light into our body, mind and spirit so that we can feel happy here!

The Sun is thought to be Male energy—the animus as Jung called it.  Our Sun is our Life Force (as above, so below)–it’s our Prana and it helps us with our creative expression here.  More basically it is what produces our will to live and so we should know how to nourish it.

Nourishing (feeding) our Sun is what helps us to feel confident and it is different for each of us, based on our birth data.

Almost everyone knows their Sun sign but if you don’t, I will include the list of signs with dates below.  This list isn’t intended to be all inclusive—this is just off the top of my head so-to-speak mentioning some of the key points that come to mind about each Sun which my own Libra Sun needs to do in order to feel energized an purposeful i.e. “relating”.  Anyway, here we go…

Aries2SUN IN ARIES (born March 21 – April 20)

You need fire and to express courage and a pioneering spirit and be out front or first in anything you do.  Any activity that encourages such things will feed your Sun and help your life force sparkle and shine brighter.  You need excitement and to try new things—as many as you can even if you don’t follow up with everything you start, you need those exciting “new starts” often and in some form in order to feed your Sun and help you feel confident and alive .

Taurus

SUN IN TAURUS (born April 21 – May 20)

You need earth and to express your very practical ideas in any way that you can.  You are good at handling resources and expressing this skill helps you to feed your life force and feel confident.  When you work with money/finances you shine just like you do when you express your strong tastes in creating beauty with earth resources.  When you care for your physical needs and comforts, you energize your body, mind and spirit.

Gemini2

SUN IN GEMINI (born May 21 – June 21)

You need air, mental, thought to energize your sense of dualism—and when you can hold two views at the same time or unite two sets of opposites, this helps you to feel confident and powerful.  When you allow yourself to use your natural born gift of observation and combine that with words in any way—shazam, you are really rocking and feeling your light grow brighter.  Mental stimulation in any way, shape or form energizes you and when you talk about things this too helps body, mind and spirit unite—expressing yourself does it for you and helps you feel vital and alive.

Cancer2

SUN IN CANCER (born June 22 – July 22)

Water, emotions and security are the key words here that feed this Sun and help people in this sign feel strong and vital. Home, family and tradition and things to do with the past help you feel a sense of purpose that enlivens your body, mind and soul.  Building a sense of home and doing that groundwork for that purpose feeds your sun and helps you feel more powerful, confident and alive – you take the past and create a self-image from that making an identity that helps you feel more yourself. When you care for others and protect and nurture them, this feeds your own Sun—your life force.  If you don’t use your deep feelings to care for others, you feel more vulnerable and loose energy; however, if your home or security are threatened this enables you to find your Sun and call upon your own natural inner strength making you aware of it and this ultimately enables you to feel more alive, confident and purposeful.

Leo2

SUN IN LEO (born July 23 – Aug 22, 23)

This person needs fire, passion and awareness of self and feels enlivened when in any kind of central position or at the core of anything that is going on.  If this type of individual is not feeling popular with others, it can dampen the spirit and it’s like put a blanket over their life force.  The person born under this Sun will feel the need to reach the pinnacle of achievement in some area but must also remember to have fun so that work and pleasure are in equal measure—if not, the life force depletes and the Sun is not being fed.  There is a susceptibility to flattery from others until this individual can learn how to nourish their own Sun by self-acceptance and true self-awareness.

Virgo2

SUN IN VIRGO (born August 23, 23 – September 22, 23)

Humility, compassion and modesty and an urge to be of service and make a significant difference in the world in a hands-on and grounded way that is practical and useful; this is what feeds and nourishes the body, mind and spirit of those born under the Virgo Sun.  Other Sun signs can take advantage of the service oriented Virgo nature who likes to work behind the scenes.  Satisfaction comes from giving attention to details and by pursuing a natural interest in healing—those activities feed the Virgo Sun helping this individual feel confident and vital.

Libra2

SUN IN LIBRA (born September 23, 24 – October 22, 23)

The emphasis here is on non-self or the ‘other’ and on anything air related such as writing, speaking and in any way ‘relating’.  When the person born under this sign is uniting with others in some way there comes a feeling of wholeness and balance and harmony.  A person born under this Sun has a consideration of other people’s feelings, such as even if this person is expressing anger it is on behalf of another rather than self.  The Libra soul really has a strong need to justice and fair play and working for the benefit of others is what enables this soul to be energized and feel confident and vital.

Scorpio2

SUN IN SCORPIO (born October 23, 24 – November 22)

The person born under this Sun has an urge to fight an conquer foes whether real or imagined  and the need is to slay a dragon of some type and so here feeling the power of tenacity makes on feel alive and vital.  There’s an innate need for passion and sometimes engaging in activities to the point of obsession but this level of intensity is needed in order to feed body, mind and soul.  If the person can dig deeply for the truth even to the point of doing research in some way to find the deep bottom-line answer, then the life force is energized.  Anything involving psychology and learning about the motivations of others helps the person born under this sign to feel vital, alive and generally purposeful which feeds their life force.

Sagittarius2

SUN IN SAGITTARIUS (born November 23 – December 21, 22, 23)

Expansion of the solar forces to their fullest potential happen with those born under the Sag Sun and there needs to be a wide field or area for this person to express their life force energy.  Here we have individuals who have a huge abundance of tolerance naturally and when this is being expressed, the Sag person feels that sense of purpose being fulfilled.  Honesty, freedom and optimism and cheerfulness need to be allowed expression in order for the person born under this Sun to feel confident and vitally alive.  The naturally restless spirit of the Sag Sun individual is soothed by experiencing some type of adventure and having an expression of freedom in their life in some way.  Teaching helps someone born in Sag to feel vitally alive, purposeful and thus feeds that life force, their Sun.  Travel or planning a trip is also something that a Sagittarius can do in order to feed their Sun!

Capricorn2

SUN IN CAPRICORN (born December 22, 23, 24 – January 20)

The Sun’s rays are usually weaker during these months but inside this individual there is a quiet drive that is powerfully present and needs feeding.  Anything requiring tenacity and determination will feed the body, mind and spirit of this individual.  This person needs a goal and something to master in some field or endeavor and has what it takes to endure hardship and to overcome obstacles and when these hardships and obstacles are overcome, the life force is revitalized.  There is purpose on the path of overcoming life that feeds this person’s body, mind and spirit.  This Capricorn Sun needs responsibility and can thrive on it!

Aquarius2

SUN IN AQUARIUS (born January 21 – February 19)

The person born under this Sun thrives on cooperation with others; and without it their life force fades and wanes.  Personal satisfaction comes from considering others first and in fact self-promotion diminishes one’s feeling of power and confidence.  Sharing with others and humanitarian concerns rule this individuals deepest inner desires and help one feel the life is being well-lived and furthers the feelings of brotherhood and friendship that keep this Sun fed.  Technology is also a place wherein a person born under this sign can shine and feel confident and purposeful; so developing technical skill helps one feel like shining even brighter especially if the technology enhances other people’s welfare.

Pisces2

SUN IN PISCES (born 2/20 – 3/20)

The solar forces are probably the weakest here in those born under this sign.  Yet, in times of adversity, the solar spark ignites and inner strength asserts itself.  Here we can see folks who can be very resistant but in a very passive way but the resistance can be arduous and formidable.  The person born under this sign feels confidence and life force grow when expressing adaptability, tolerance and compassion.  If the person born under a Pisces Sun works on behalf of those less fortunate this generally motivates their life.  So, therefore, charity work and healing work are of benefit in feeding the Sun of those born under Pisces.  The thing here is that the individual is basically very kind but others perceive this as weakness and then take advantage; therefore, boundaries are crucial for those born under this Sun Sign.  If anything in the arts using imagination are pursued (music, dancing, etc.) this can feed the Sun here since those born with a Pisces Sun have a strong imagination.  Grounding, naturally, is something that should be balanced with the imaginative nature.

I hope this little list will help you to know how to feed your own Sun and also for you to know a bit about how to help your family and friends enhance their life force as well.

Taurus New Moon Solar Eclipse Today, May 9th, 2013 – Eclipse Season 2013

Taurus New Moon Solar Eclipse Today
Taurus New Moon Solar Eclipse Today, May 9th, 2013

It’s the middle of the summer eclipse season 2013!  Lunar! Solar! Partial! Full!  Whatever!  A one word can suffice:  change.  Yeah, okay.  But what kind and what for and what to do about it?  Well, how its playing out in each of our lives can be somewhat different but the main theme is change.  So, it all started in April with the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio; so a Scorpio Moon; check your schedules, journals, calendars or reflect back to the 25th of April during that full Moon.  (I did and see a theme developing with finances; not surprising when we’re dealing with Scorpio and the opposite polarity Taurus.  They rule the 2nd and 8th zodiac houses of our money/other people’s money—generally speaking as a huge over-simplified theme.  Survival, values, self-worth and issues of power/control and these types of categories—that’s what we’re talking about, if we’re getting thematic and we are.

TECHNICAL—SKIP THIS PARAGRAPH IF YOU’RE NOT ‘INTO’ ASTROLOGY:  Most people don’t know these details about themselves but I’ll mention anyway that if anyone has planets in Taurus, Leo, Scorpio or Aquarius that are between 1 and 11 degrees, that this energy will be most deeply felt.  Why?  Because this upcoming Full Moon Eclipse on the 25th of May happens at 5 degrees and is triggering the lot of any planets in those signs and in those degrees via aspects or angles, that’s why.

But even if you don’t know those details, everyone has transiting Saturn (in Scorpio) and Mars (in Taurus) triggered at that time.  So, you’re effected with or without knowledge of your planets, houses or signs.  But knowledge is power, so let’s continue.

Although I just said that I’d leave myself out of it, Saturn in Scorpio brought (for me) deep emotional sadness (my brother had just died) and other emotions had me initiating (Mars) some new ideas about monetary survival concerns (Taurus).  I’m sharing this for the purposes of helping others understand their own astrological eclipse energy as I try to figure this thing out myself.  What is the message that is being given to us by the universe this eclipse season?

Eclipses can suddenly expose a hidden problem and are like the ‘wild cards’ of the zodiac which can bring up stressful emotions, chaotic events or they can be very positive and exciting.  I’m sure there are those who feel little or no effect at all.  Why so?  Well, it depends on whether or not those signs relate to something significant in the natal chart triggering the soul’s karmic past or evolutionary goal—some eclipses do and others don’t.  Just because someone experiences an eclipse season as mild, doesn’t indicate some type of spiritual advancement.  Besides, let’s face it.  If we got hit intensely and heavily with each and every single eclipse, chances are we’d be overwhelmed—that’s why we have something called ‘time’ to slow it all down for us.  So, wipe the grin off your face if you are not being affected by this particular eclipse, there’s always next year!

My Natal North and South Nodes are being hit by this eclipse season so my soul’s karmic past and evolutionary intention are really being shaken.  Last year, the summer eclipses (in which I relocated from the mountains to this apartment complex down mountain) occurred I the signs Gemini-Sagittarius.  One archetype of this zodiac axis relates to short trips and travel—that axis in my natal chart occurs in 5-11, the archetypes of children (5th) and the clan/community (11th).  I’m in the community now “fer’ shure” as we used to say it in the 80’s.  I moved into this apartment complex where my children live.  And I did so last year between the May 20th and June 4th eclipse.  My move in date was the 21st of May last year, 2012.  So all that Gemini-Sag eclipse stuff that last year is being mentioned here as an example of how an eclipse season can work.  Let’s get current–it’s now one year later, May 9, 2013.

So much for history; let’s return to the NOW.  Scorpio – Taurus is where we’re at for this years eclipse season encore.  And for me triggers more family/career stuff since in my life, the natal nodes are in the 4-10 house axis.  Again, if you are born with personal planets in Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius; then you’re being affected.

My whole generation is feeling the effects of this eclipse since all people born in the Pluto in Leo generation which is roughly between the years of 1940 and 1957 are affected by these eclipses in Taurus/Scorpio via the square; especially if their Pluto is within orb or between 1 and 11 degrees Leo.

Oh, I may be getting too technical.  We’re just talking about what issues can cause concern when we look at the signs and houses that an eclipse affects.

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A SOLAR AND LUNAR ECLIPSE?

ANSWER:  Just as a general rule of thumb, solar eclipses are more external dealing with outer world events while the lunar eclipses are more emotional and internal.

So let’s go back to April 25th.  We checked the calendar/journal/schedule and reflected back to that last week or so of April a moment ago—was that more internal or external for you?  We feel intensely emotional about something and that can result in taking the bull-by-the-horns so to speak and initiating an external event.  I was re-thinking my whole approach to things at that time due to some emotional unrest and as a result did initiate a few outer world experiences.  I will leave the details to your imagination.

Eclipses have a profound effect on a person’s life—at least potentially depending upon what other planets it triggers.  The tension may last only a few weeks; however the change that happens in that period can last a lifetime.

Take, for example, the eclipse season of last summer as it relates to my own life.  The move closer to my family—definitely true that things that have happened this past year did affect my life and the lives of my family and the affects likely will last a lifetime i.e. our relationships, memories and all of that.  So there’s a good example.  The intensity of the move—the packing up and moving in took weeks but the change?  Well, pretty dramatic.

Eclipses can illuminate areas of one’s life—like shining a light on the person, the path bringing into awareness something that beforehand was not being noticed.  We could say something like removing a blind spot!   I think that’s a good way to phrase it.  Whatever has been pushed to one side or shoved under the carpet becomes obvious.  Sometimes I think of eclipses as earthquakes—especially after last summer as well as the current energy.

Today’s eclipse (May 9th 2013) is Solar and this Sun/Moon conjunction is closely (as mentioned earlier) merged with Mercury, Mars and most importantly the South Node.  So past life or even this current lifetime’s past memories and past actions (Karma possibly-?) is being illuminated revealing, once again, possible blind spots.

The next eclipse of this series is another Lunar Eclipse and occurs on May 25 on the full Moon.  There are two eclipse seasons every year – lunar eclipses are the byproducts of any given solar eclipse.  Therefore, the eclipse ahead of us on the 25th (Full Moon Lunar eclipse) is the byproduct of today’s New Moon Solar Eclipse.

Today’s Solar Eclipse may bring events that we have not consciously precipitated or triggered and then the consequential upcoming Full Moon Lunar eclipse on the 25th will be associated with events brougth about by our own thoughts and feelings.

Let me end with a quote from astrologer Dena DeCastro’s (www.denadecastro.com) recent newsletter to give us more of an idea about this eclipse season.  Her comments echo other astrologers all of whom are saying essentially the same thing.  About this eclipse season Dena wrote:

“We’re being invited to confront our fears, and to let go of the things we’ve held on to – habits, ideas, material things – that makes us feel secure. And, that’s the South Node in Taurus: we are learning to release attachment to some things that have allowed us to be comfortable for a while. The evolutionary condition is that, as a whole, we have become too comfortable, cozy, sleepy. Inertia has set in (shadow side of Taurus). Scorpio medicine invites us to surrender to what feels out of our control. For example, intense emotions, maybe long suppressed, may be coming to the surface now. Or, you might find that you can no longer avoid doing that thing you are passionate about, but have been so afraid to do. If you don’t know what that is yet, don’t worry. Another year and a half of North Node in Scorpio will likely reveal it to you. But you must be willing to look beneath the surface of things, to confront fears, and to ride the wave rather of change rather than fighting it. ~ So these themes and lessons are brought to the surface each time the eclipses occur in the Taurus/Scorpio polarity, particularly heightened in the two weeks leading up to and away from the eclipses. We are in such a time frame currently, which began in early April and goes through the early part of June. In my life, it has been a challenging time, full of Scorpionic themes. I touched on some of these in my previous newsletter. As I look at the lives of those closest to me, and events in the world around me, I see many of us being pushed out of the inertia state of shadow-Taurus toward confronting uncomfortable, even frightening, realities. Through being awakened to the things we usually don’t like to consider, however, we are provided the opportunity to gain wisdom and the ability to find the true sources of our own power.”—end quote, Dena DeCastro

I hope this post helps someone out there to hang on with chin up!  As mom used to say, “This too shall pass” and as I say, “I can go through anything if I know why and how long it’s likely to last!”

Maybe by next month, if we don’t get it right now, we will be able to look back on this time period of 3 eclipses April 25 thru May 25th and figure it all out!  Here’s to eclipses (raising my coffee cup to the air and not spilling a drop) and may the force be with you.

I hope that we all receive some positive changes through this intense time period and I hope for you that your experiences are the intensely happy kind.   May the odds be ever in your favor!

Astrology Head’s Up for June 29 2012 Three Intense Aspects: Sun opposes Pluto, Sun squares Uranus, Mercury sextiles Jupiter

Planet Alert for June 29th 2012

The energy has been building and tomorrow (Friday 29th of June), there’s a release:

Sun in Cancer square Uranus in Aries (one’s primary self as it relates to emotion, and/or home/family b/c Sun is in Cancer and some element of rebellion or surprise in regard to that as it applies to FREEDOM since Uranus is in freedom loving and impulsive Aries!  ALSO…

Sun in Cancer opposes Pluto in Cap … so again themes of family which is a cancer quality and “getting real” which is a Capricorn quality.  Could play out in various ways but that’s a primary on that I intuitively feel.  ALSO…

Mercury in Leo sextile’s Jupiter in Gemini…. here we see large issues since Jupiter intensifies and increases anything it touches and it’s touching GEMINI and so the mouth can get really big tomorrow… LOL… i mean it is going to be easy to get it out and say what you want to say since Jupiter in Gemini makes an exciting, stimulating sextile aspect to the planet that actually rules Gemini:  MERCURY!  And that Mercury is in ‘”what about me?” Leo’.  Sometimes it’s really better than OK to be a little selfish and to speak up–especially if you’re one who puts their own needs always to the back being the sacrificial lamb!   It’ll be easy to speak up tomorrow and Jupiter will stimulate that!

The Soul will be shaking things up tomorrow!

Current Energy–Go it Alone or Honor the Whole? Aquarius Leo Polarity of Sun Full/Moon Relates to Communication with Community; I-Ching Kua 37

This message is about effective and sincere communication—and hopefully I can do that here in the paragraphs that follow as this divination message unfolds.  And this message is also about FACEBOOK type teamwork that is respectful so that efforts can be successful with each person understanding the importance of their own role.  It’s been a while and it’s time for another blog post—sometimes I seek clarity by turning to a divination method and more often than not it’s been the I-Ching.  I’ve gone through almost all of the Kua’s now and have only 3 more left.  Maybe we can ask to gain some insight and perspective about the current pattern of energy generally speaking.  There’s astrology as a method but I’ve covered a bit of that lately in on my Facebook Wall, so I’ll let that stand and look toward this other divination method now for some wisdom and guidance.  What should we consider about the current energy pattern now and how to respond to it most wisely?

Well, sure enough this does relate to the Sun being in Aquarius now; it’s Kua 37 and has to do with the clan/community/family/ancestry/heredity archetype.  The human family—how we have so many differences but how we are also all alike; two eyes, a nose and mouth even though there are so many other differences.  Focusing on what we have in common—the common heredity; that is how we can respond most wisely to the current energy pattern!  You can apply that wisdom or guidance in about as many different ways as there are stars in the sky—dependent upon the current question or concern of your life.

Ha!  Just look at the image of the Kua 37 called THE FAMILY and tell me that you cannot help but think of Facebook!  Wu Wei’s Book of Answers calls this Kua THE GROUP and indicates the influence of the family or group is helpful as far as enabling you to accomplish more than you could alone.

I’m still marveling at how today’s Full Moon in Leo is triggering the opposing Sun in Aquarius which is so much in archetypical alignment with this Kua 37.   That’s Aquarius energy—the group, the clan.

The current energy is about everyone fulfilling their duties and functioning for the good of the whole with humanitarian attitudes such as loyalty and dedication and sticking with one another during times of external conflict.  Families and clans, after all, protect one another and they share resources.

Sometimes standing apart and separate just simply doesn’t work if we want energy to move forward—we have to think inclusively.  What do you have to offer the world?  That’s what this Kua seems to be asking us to consider.  This is how we can best work with the current energy—to consider this inner question in some way and then respond to it, finding some way to share what is the best that we have to offer in order to play our part well.

Focus on strengthening mutual support now and we can practice this within the home and family unit if not at work or in organized groups.

Honor the opinions of others and respect your own opinion too while at the same time realizing that they will not always match—they’re not supposed to!  The ideal is to find the common ground and build on that.  Blend the male/female energy of both authority and gentleness.

This is the perfect Kua to draw when the Sun is in Aquarius (and conjunct Mercury today no less!) opposing the Leo Full Moon.

“We are all members of one human family. Faced
with constant threats to their survival, our ancestors–
black, red, yellow, and white–developed family and
tribal bonds. Clans, tribes, nations have fought one
another down the ages to protect themselves and
further their bloodlines, customs, and beliefs. Now, as
a species, we have finally reached a threshold: we
can no longer afford to base our relationships on
factionalism and noncooperation. If we remain
entrenched within our collective inheritance of
aggression, fear, and separation, we will bring to a
standstill life as we know it.” –Ma Deva Padma
