Daily Divination 8-26-11 Doing the Work of Soul Evolution – I CHING Kua 18 with Astrology and Tarot Correlations

IMHO a mistake or error that some “new age” spiritual thought systems or philosophical systems make has to do with denying emotion.  Attempts to “white light” and escape from areas of the psyche (soul) or consciousness without going ‘into’ deep feelings or old wounds to determine their core prevents evolutionary growth by skipping over or omitting examination of one’s role in emotional dynamics.  Many wish to wave their wand of light and “not go there”, preferring to escape or avoid the necessary work that supports growth and evolution.  Take, for example, a situation of a tumultuous or difficult relationship—perhaps even one in which some type of abuse took place.  Without going deeply into the dynamics of that relationship at some point, one avoids seeing how one may have contributed to the problem or the difficult dynamic. Essentially, we escape into the Light when we drop our body and cross to the other side; yet, we realize that we did not really “get it” and then come back again to go back into it so that we can see what needs to be healed, repaired or cleaned up or repaired within our own self.  When we say things like “let me stay in the light and not deal with dark feelings”, many times we defeat the purpose of being here—growth and evolution.  We have to “go there” in order to be able to recognize our own patterns and to repair them.

Today’s cosmic communiqué is inspired by Kua 18 of the I CHING called “Correcting Deficiencies” or “Work That Has Been Spoiled”.

We must first understand the cause of our suffering before we can do away with them and without going deeply into that area and examining it, we cannot ever know.  Without knowing and understanding, release cannot happen.  Negative emotions are not to be feared – they are to be understood and traced back to their source so that they can be corrected, re-worked, understood, repaired, restored, cleared up, so that we are in future able to respond differently, living a life in which old wounds are healed and balanced.

Old beliefs that we hold about victimization or neediness and the like have an opportunity to come to light and be corrected and that is why we’re here but we cannot make those corrections if we are unwilling to look/examine or if we are focused on spaceship brothers/sisters coming to “save us” or some sort of ascension scenario whisking us off to some heaven in the sky. No matter where we go in the cosmos, we take the same consciousness; there’s no real escape without the clean-up and correction work.

Behavior patterns that come from patterns of thinking that do not benefit us create problems lifetime after lifetime until we have enough courage and determination to feel and recognize the pain or negative emotion, go into it and make the necessary adjustment or correction.  The deep soul-searching and psychological uncovering reveals what requires attention so that we can live in The Light; yet, so many run away from this work.

As Ma Deva Padma says, “If you put your dinner leftovers in the fridge where you don’t see them for days on end, eventually they start to grow moldy and stink.  The same thing happens with mistakes and difficulties that we refuse to deal with.  We can pretend we don’t know about them, or disguise them with fragrance.”  But all our mistakes and difficulties are learning experiences and while it is easier to assume we are victim rather than examining our role, we avoid facing reality and only delay the moment of truth in which we must become honest with ourselves.

Looking within the self without denial or embellishment to see what part we have played is of utmost importance; otherwise, nothing changes and patterns repeat.

BOTTOM LINE:  Past problems and issues should be examined so that future progress is not hindered.  Don’t deny emotions; allow them and trace them back to their source and make necessary corrections to erroneous or victimization-type thinking

Daily Divination 8-24-11 Today, Grace, Beauty and Feeling At Home with One’s Self and One’s World – I-CHIG Kua 22, Grace with Astrological and Tarot Archetype Correlations

Today, the message is to radiate a sense of well-being and an attitude that says, “I feel at home with myself and with the world.” This is our birthright and the epitome of who we are at the deepest level. I’m back from the family reunion – and a good time was had by all. Today’s cosmic communiqué is inspired by the I-CHING Kua 22, called GRACE or OUTER REFINEMENT. It is about “keeping still” and “success” that comes from grace on earth. We could add that grace brings success if we can have the stillness of the mountain as our core today. Grace is the connection between The Divine Creator or the Tao and humankind. Today we are being asked to see the beauty of our inner essence despite judgments about our outer appearances or the appearances of others. Watch for inner creative impulses today and allow them to flower from the stillness.

We are being asked to remember that beauty in the outer world is always transient—it is born and then fades to be born again. We see this everywhere in nature (flowers, trees, etc.)

When we try to grasp or possess a flower, we accelerate its demise but if we can manage to eliminate the desire to grasp or possess, the experience of grace becomes a joy in our life today.

Greet beauty when it shows up today and become one with it without demands or expectations, remembering all that is upon this earth is transient and in a process of dying to be reborn.

Let Mother Nature be your teacher today and appreciate beauty and love in whatever way it shows up for you. Merge with it instead of trying to possess or control it and keep still and smile.

PS – enhance your ‘inner’ beauty

ASTROLOGICAL AND TAROT ARCHETYPE CORRELATIONS

SCORPIO: depth; real beauty and stardom runs deep and has nothing to do with surface appearances

SAGITTARIUS: relates to natural law; beauty and grace of the earth

TAURUS: earth energy (see Aries above) Also, Taurus is rule by Venus, the planet that represents love and beauty

HIEROPHANT/HIGH PRIEST: this tarot card is associated with Taurus (see above) and represents the “inner teacher”

TEMPERANCE: this tarot card is associated with Sagittarius (see above) and the “fire within” similar to “the fire at the foot of the mountain” and is about honoring inner beauty and values; it is also about the inner guide just like the HIEROPHANT

THE HIGH PRIESTESS: here again is a reference to going within and being in touch with Universal Mind; being in a state of silent equilibrium; inner creativity

THE STAR: meditation; intuition; being guided by inner wisdom; inspirations; visions; ideas; need to relax the mind

THE SUN: being aware of universal blessings; loving all things without judgment as the sun shines upon all the same; being joyful and light of heart; being caring and compassionate (especially to one’s self); joyful creativity; warmth; following one’s heart’s path

THE MAGICIAN: balance of earth elements; enthusiasm; a flow of ideas; creative energy; feeling magical; holding one’s still position in time/space reality; being focused and grounded

Daily Divination 8-10-11 Butterfly Energy Today – Keep It Simple and Joyful While Tending to Details – I CHING Kua 62

Twofold messages from the I-CHING oracle today! Find the extraordinary in the ordinary (love that one!) and attend to small details—pace yourself. Inspired by Kua 62 called “Small Is Beautiful” or “Attention to Detail and Small Tasks”, the message is to be joyful about small achievements done well and enjoy success in moderate endeavors. KISS is a good motto for today—K.eep I.t S.imple S.weetie!

Handle everything today as if it is “butterfly wings”—be very gentle and delicate. It’s a good day to simplify and find the joy in tending to ordinary details. Check your breath frequently—don’t hold and stay relaxed.

The Moon is nearly full right now in the earthy-work sign of Capricorn and energy is building.  We may feel a bit overwhelmed by details and work that needs doing; but, easy does it!

Remember that we are here to enjoy life as well as to accomplish goals—without a mental attitude of struggle, everything will get done and with a smile on your face to boot.

I have to omit the full astrology and tarot correlation today… it’s a matter of time and those details, you know? said with a smile   Below are the signs and cards that correlate with KUA 62… but one can always use the search window on the blog website itself here to type in a search term to find the meanings…

Aquarius, Pisces, Scorpio, Sag, Death, Hanged Man, Chariot, High Priest/Hierophant, Temperance, High Priestess

PERSONAL NOTE: I may not be able to blog again for a week or so; but will try to get some in as opportunities arise for a post. Essentially, for subscribers of this blog, I will be back to work fully on the 23rd; between now and then I will be having company from out-of-town and then will be out-of-town myself. This has to do with an issue of a family reunion! Will be back soon….

PS—I’m seeing signs of very, very early fall here in the mountains of North Carolina! It’s still hot during the day but our evenings and mornings are beautiful now!

Autumn is my favorite time of year—but then, I’m a Libra Sun; so I suppose that’s natural.

Daily Divination 7-27-11 Childhood Issues; Balancing Soul Relationships with Parents; Teachers; I-CHING Kua 4

I was on hold with my sister who called me from work; meanwhile, I did today’s I-CHING draw which is Kua 4 relating to childhood.

When my sister returned to the line she began to speak about her counseling session. Issues of childhood were the predominant theme of the conversation—definitely we have synchronicity. Kua 4 is called “Youthful Folly” or “Inexperience” and relates to childhood.

Our views are different—my sister’s and mine. I tend to think of childhood issues and the resulting experiences as part of what needed to be re-triggered for the purpose of awareness and healing. Further, my concept is that we choose the parent who has many of the same issues as our own so that we can be imprinted even before the actual birth with the energy that we are here to work with or overcome.

On the other hand, my sister tends to hold the view that goes something like, “Mom messed us up” and her therapist is helping her work through some ideas like these.

Yet, we can still converse about it for the end result is the same—self-responsibility for our own psyche and the healing that may be necessary.

Each new day begins with an empty slate and we can repeat patterns of the past or not.

One of my I-CHING books says (about this Kua): “Life is compassionate, if we miss a class, the opportunity to make up the lesson will surely arise.”

Life, Itself, is the Great Teacher that helps us to mature.

The message of this Kua is also about having the right attitude toward our teachers. This would include Life Itself, parents and other educators. It’s also about making learning fun; seeing it as an adventure.

  • Trying to figure ourselves and our experiences out – the psychology of the soul –actually can be fun.
  • What makes us tick?
  • What makes us so different from one another, yet also so much the same?
  • Why does one thing affect one person so deeply and barely faze another or not even hit the radar of someone else?

Emotional patterns are part of the equation and it’s all very interesting and we see it as we study the family dynamic—same parents, same house, same city and same time-frame and two siblings have two completely different experiences of their childhood. What else aside from the individual patterns of each different soul can account for that?

I’d like to flip something around and that has to do with the idea that we are all students and teachers and that children can be the teacher for the parent. It’s an attitudinal shift that gives an entirely different perspective. Instead of lamenting about how your parent affected you, see if it wasn’t also true that you affected them—positively or negatively it’s a two-way street.

I’d like to think that parents and children are souls that have agreed before birth to come together to help one another grow and evolve. So when my sister takes the view that “Mom messed us up”, for me it doesn’t ring true in the purest sense. It’s so much more involved than that simplistic view.

Yet, my sister and I just agreed that the outcome is still the same; we still have to put ourselves together.

Many times folks will have a dream right before a session with a counselor or a psychic.

Last night my sister had a dream about nuts and bolts scattered about and in the dream she was asking herself how to work with them—pick them up and sort them all at once to see what goes where?  Or to take them one at a time and find where they go?

I thought that her dream was quite interesting—she said that her decision in the dream was to take them one at a time so that she didn’t have to handle them twice.

I usually tell my clients to pay attention to their dreams right before or after a session for these offer valuable insights from the soul.

In my own life, astrology represents the nuts and bolts—and it is, besides that, fun!

Like the nuts and bolts dream that my sister had, when interpreting a chart, I take one nut and bolt and then another and then soon I can take them all up all together as the information in the chart starts to synchronize and harmonize.  I wonder if my sister will have another dream in future wherein she picks up all the nuts and bolts at once, knowing exactly where they all go.

Looking at the image on I-CHING card above we see someone on a tightrope working to keep balance. Water flows on like the eternal soul and mountain is our life in a body on earth.

The elements for this Kua are Mountain over Water and an inexperienced youth beginning to climb the mountain—perhaps in search of a teacher to help with the answers. It is beneficial to persevere—understanding life, our self, our Soul and experiences is part of our life journey  up the mountain.

I have a sense that the mountain that my sister is climbing is one she has climbed before many times and she is in the process of remembering and integrating each step… just like those nuts and bolts.

In fact, we’re all doing this day-by-day and step-by-step.

Daily Divination 7-26-11 Balancing Mind/Body/Spirit; Do you know what you need and what you don’t? Use Intuition; I-CHING Kua 27

Create balance in mind, body and spirit – Kua 27 – did so much of that yesterday that I didn’t get to make a blog post; that was the I-CHING Kua for yesterday. Ever have a day when you just know, without a doubt, that things are out of balance? It’s a matter of finding out what we need to do in order to restore that and then taking step one, step two and before you know it things start to feel much better.  Using one’s intuitive impulses at these times to lead one to the next step, asking the question, “What do I need?” and then observing the response–this helps. That’s the kind of day I had yesterday…

It rained all day and my elbow was hurting from doing too much yard work and I felt a headache coming on—What do I need? What do I need? –that was the mantra for me yesterday. I decided it was a haircut which I did myself. I cut off a good 4 inches and felt much lighter. Then I acted on doing small things that I’d been putting off and one thing to another mixed with doing an hour aerobic workout, a meditation, housework and by the end of the day I was feeling good as new again. Essentially, I took the advice/guidance of Kua 27 and nurtured body, mind and spirit.

Health and well-being goes beyond being free from disease—our body, mind and spirit must be in balanced in order to radiate light. Mine wasn’t. Today’s message is to ask the self what is needed in order to restore balance in the mind/body/spirit. Sometimes what is needed is to change our daily routine and “clean up our act” (in my case yesterday, housework and a haircut and no blog post).

When the body/mind is balanced, our capacity for spontaneity, joy, and peace is increased. Every part of us requires nourishment—not just our stomach. Today the question for contemplation is “How well am I nourishing myself? What do I need?”

I will have to skip over the astrological and tarot archetype correlations for this one—or I will add them as an addendum later…

Kua 27 is called “The Corners of the Mouth” OR “Providing Sustenance”. How can you provide nourishment for yourself today?  Let your intuition guide you.

Daily Divination 7-22-11 Today Maintain the Connection to Your Buddha Nature – Be Still in Cosmic Unity – Kua52/Stillness; Scorpio, Sag, High Priest/Hierophant, High Priestess, Temperance

While preparing for today’s I CHING divination, my attention kept going to the nearby statue of the Buddha and thinking of “the middle path”.   I then turned to the I-CHING and received Kua 52–synchronisty! (my intuition at work)

The Image for today’s Kua 52 is very Buddha like. The name of this Kua 52  is “Keeping Still” and the archetypal keyword associations are: meditation; self-renewal; composure; detachment; self-acceptance; equanimity; serenity and yes, the middle path!

Today’s message is about our innate “Buddha Nature” and withdrawing from “thinking” entering the world of “being”. Another way to said it is moving out of the ego-mindset of “me” who is many times overly involved in the world of “doing” and “grasping” with the mind.

Meditation is a way of stepping out of the “me”-mind and connecting with one’s essential Buddha-nature; we accomplish this by “Keeping Still” which is the name of Kua 52. The keeping still that comes from meditation is not anything difficult to achieve—it’s our essential nature and is as natural and easy as breathing.

Shifting into this natural state of being is like waking in the morning to the fresh mountain air of a spring morning. In fact, in the Wu Wei Book of Answers, Kua 52 is called,’ “Mountain”, Stopping, Thoughts Coming to Rest. ’

Whatever your greatest concern or question is today, the answer is to stop and rest—take no action. Know that everything is as it should be—be relaxed and confident. If you have a quiet heart, you will be sensitive to the subtle promptings that come from the world around you, and this in turn, will allow you to move effortlessly and smoothly through life, rather than to push, struggle and stumble.

It is said that in many traditions, mountains are a symbol of the stillness of our Buddha Nature. Perhaps this is how I find myself here in the Appalachian Mountains and have such love for these mountains. Mountains are the symbol of rising above the mundane world of daily earth living. Mountains are earth representations of stillness, non-movement as well as peace and quiet.

Today it is not so much about focus as much as it is non-focus… how well can we be our natural, peaceful, joyful self? — that’s the question for contemplation today (and always).

Mountain over mountain—this is the image that the lines of this Kua create. One solid line over two broken lines; mountain on top of mountain!

I live on a mountain with mountains above and surrounding me. Today after just now drawing this Kua, I am feeling even more grateful for the grace to be able to live here. Embraced within the arms of Mother Earth as I am here in these quiet, peaceful mountains full of crystals, it is the ideal setting to achieve and maintain meditative equipoise.

The Astrology Archetype Correlations to the I-CHING Kua 52/Stillness are:

Scorpio – going into “the depth”; meditation; awareness of the larger forces of the universe; little death release of the ego; shamanistic energy

Sagittarius – right brain; natural laws; nature; seeing the ‘big picture’; optimism; animals, plants, nature itself; philosophy

The Tarot Archetype Correlations to the I-CHING Kua 52/Stillness are:

High Priestess: Unity consciousness; being in touch with Universal Mind; Divine Feminine and magnetic/heart energy; silent equilibrium; exploring the subconscious; Scorpio

Daily Divination 7-19-11 Progress! It’s going to get better; success is assured – Kua 53 Development; Leo, Virgo, Scorpio, Sag, The Magician, The Hermit, Judgment, Hierophant, Temperance, High Priestess

I CHING Kua 53 has to do with DEVELOPMENT, gradual progress, slowly but surely or as my grandmother used to say, “little by little”. Another one we often hear is “a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step”.

This is the second time I’ve received a message about progress; the last time it was “progress over the next few months”. Today, the message has to do with success being assured.

Where or how do these messages apply to you in your own life? The answer applies to your own question around life conditions.

I think economically when I think of this message; the condition of our economy in the United States is of grave concern to many.

My prediction, if you want to call it that is that things will get better and success will be achieved. Yet, there is a caveat and that has to do with the message of this Kua today and the associated Tarot and Astrology correlations.

Essentially on must keep one’s attention in the present moment and avoid dreaming about future. The reason being, the more we can stay with “what is”, the less likely it will be that we will be thrown off-balance by the unexpected. We must all keep our cool despite current delays or setbacks.

We cannot throw up our hands and say, “I quit” because we need this time as a vital learning experience. We must accept current challenges and not lose ourselves in a future that is not yet manifest.

Today the message is to be willing to look truth of the moment straight in the eye and feel supported rather than fearful.

I can’t help but think of the word “psychic” whenever I see the word “development”. Development is the name of this I CHING Kua… actually, some books call it “Gradual Development”.

Things that develop slowly become more strong and enduring—perseverance and determined effort is required. Yet, too much determination can sometimes be detrimental—it is rather a matter of uniting with energy and dancing gently with it.

While it is an easy energy or gentle energy merging that I’m referring to, and while it is important to be in the now with it and not compare it with past or future, it does require focus to detail. Yet, the idea is not to hurry or force.

Progress comes from giving attention in the moment to detail but without undue pressure or stress. This is much like it is when speaking with spirit guides or communication from the other side as part of psychic development.

The key phrase today is like air over mountain (the elements of this Kua), gradual progress. It is gradual so that details can be perfected and so patience is required now.

It makes me think about walking or biking through an area rather than driving in a car. I used to drive to work and then began jogging to work instead for a while being amazed at all the small details of the area I missed while driving. It’s like that—there is much more to be seen and integrated when working at a slower and more detailed pace.

The Astrological Correlations of Kua 53/Development are:

Leo – putting one’s “heart” into it; creative actualization; self-expression; and the opposites… giving power outside of self; seeking outer world acknowledgments

Virgo – details

Scorpio – getting to the bottom of the matter; the heart of the matter; coming face to face with limitation; commitment

Sagittarius – optimism; seeing the cup half full; keeping one’s sense of humor

The Tarot Correlations of Kua 53/Development are:

The Magician – creative actualization and transmutation; moving inward for inspiration

The Hermit – Inner seeking; truth within self and not the outside world

Judgment – flowing consciousness; uniting with a higher power; struggle has been over ____, and the heart won so a new day is begun

Hierophant – the inner teacher; inherent talent; tenacity; practical application of wisdom; meaningful ritual

Temperance – patience; 6th chakra opening; blending of opposites; moderation

High Priestess – unity of all things; answers within; paying attention to the cycles of life; letting go of tension and nervousness

Hopefully, the bits of astrology and tarot above have solidified or added to the meaning of today’s divination message from Kua 53 of the I CHING.  As I always say, no matter what day or time you read this blog post, with the understanding of simultaneous divine timing, it applies to your now moment.

See you tomorrow…
