Personal Tarot Traits – 9 of Wands dig’s deep and keeps the pace spinning on a spin bike

Personal Tarot Traits – Relating Personal Daily Experiences to a Daily Tarot Card

The 9 of Wands spinning on a spin bike!

spin bike 9 wands collage[9 of Wands — Nobody else can put me to task if I’ve already learned how to do that for myself.]

“Crank up the resistance… get off the seat and up on the pedals… Dig in! Push, push, push!  Drive, drive, drive… think of something you’ve always wanted and pretend all you have to do is to speed up a little bit more and it’s yours… dig, dig, dig!  One, two, one two.  Now’s a good time to remember why you’re doing this.  Fifteen more seconds…. you’re almost there… up and over that hill… give it a little bit more up and over the top… 5, 4, 3, 2 AND ONE! You’re there.  Good job, back it down.”

Breathless.  A sip of water.  Reviewing the effort.  How well did I stay on the pace? Did I keep up with the beat of the music?    Did I back it off at any point — why?  How can I avoid that next time?  Thinking about the effort…. another sip of water… keeping  the pedals moving… checking my heart rate monitor… remembering the watts and RPM numbers when I glanced down at the monitor and how well I held the RPM’s that I had in mind for that workout.

Nine of Wands!  It relates to “keeping the pace”, knowing how to hang-in because of past experiences, yet also about the possibility of being one’s own worst enemy.  I’m not competitive with others–never have been really–not in the way athletes can be.  I compete against my self, my past performances and my own personal goals and ideals.

Persevering despite set backs is another quality of the 9 of wands energy.  I nearly laugh as I typed that line just now–setbacks.  I’ve gained weight, lost weight, gained it back and lost it again over this past year.  Talk about setbacks!   But they were all of my own doing — my own worst enemy.  That self-sabotage stuff can relate to this card as it applies to fighting one’s way back from setbacks.

All it takes is two weeks’ off from exercise and you start loosing fitness levels.  Oh, how I’ve experience the one throughout my life!

Keyword meanings for this card are these:  perseverance and stamina.  Sometimes we have to “hold it together” through sheer will and while this is something we are challenged with emotionally often if we can hold tough physically, it helps us to do so emotionally too.

Sometimes in life we have to continue despite fatigue!  We push onward no matter how tired we are and the more times in life we do this, the stronger we become.  Strength of heart, of will, of mind as well as the physical body are developed in this way — or so has been my experience.

On the bike there are times my legs are screaming and I just have to let them and not resist or fight against the effort that I’m making because if I don’t stay relaxed chances are high that I won’t reach my goal.  Determined effort.

This is the card that I pulled yesterday — 9 of Wands.  At some point in the 30-minute interval workout all the bikes were filled with riders and I wondered how many of us were competing in some way with the rider either side of them or at least pretending to in order to assist in their workout.

I thought of the other riders yesterday as all those rods surrounding the single human on the card.  I don’t mind being surrounded by others in that way and realized that ultimately I ride alone and like it that way.

If you work with tarot, maybe you will think of my spin bike experiences as you consider the card meanings in a reading.  I know that I will.   I love divination; just sayen’.

PS — I think of spinning as a meditation in learning to keep present, not letting mind drift.

ADDENDUM – WHY AND WHEREFORE’S OF THESE TYPES OF POSTS

In the morning when I first awaken, I let guidance come in and do a waking dream for the day ahead. On one of these occasions recently I received a directive in the form of an idea laced with intensity. “Draw a card at the beginning of the day and reflect on its meaning and then revisit it at day’s end correlating the day’s experiences with the card.” That’s the treasure at the end of the rainbow so-to-speak. Doing so gives insight into the world of divination for the purpose of adding layers or additional traits to the tarot card meaning. This deeper understanding to the cards can be applied for use when doing future readings. It’s like letting Life Itself teach us the cards.

5 of Pentacles with 2 and 7 of Pentacles – When Life Circumstances Drastically Change

5 of Pentacles Issue with  a 2 and 7 of Pentacle Resolution

5, 2 and 7 Pentacles

Haven’t there been times when we’ve used our pain or life trials as a crutch or to solicit sympathy or attention from others–at least temporarily?  In the card image for the 5 of Pentacles (above) she is sitting on the rock, crutches on her lap and out in the cold, no less.  Note the scarf, gloves and snow upon the ground.  We all get wounded from time–we suffer an eye-opening loss and our initial reaction is  squeeze the eyes closed.  We just don’t want to deal with it.  But eventually, it comes time to open the eyes and take inventory or make a plan of some kind.

Yet we all know that some folks never do; they lay claim to role as victim and do what they can to enhance that role or overly exaggerate their difficulty.  There’s help available and they know it and also know how to reach out for it but (for whatever reason) remaining victim has become a habit that they are getting something from.  The greater difficulty with a person using  using those crutches long-term is that they block the ability to change and loose touch with inner values and their own spirit.

Drastic changes in life circumstances due to external conditions happen to all of us at one time or another.   All three cards chosen today for blog fodder were Pentacles–cards of the earth and of material world and worldly concerns.  In some tarot decks we see the 5 of Pentacles person on crutches, wounded by life, walking past a church or chapel ~ not going in.  You get the feeling that spirituality is being ignored.

There are times that isolating one’s self from the world for a little while is a good thing right after suffering a dramatic change in the circumstances of our life.

I feel pretty qualified to write about the 5 of Pentacles, haven “been there, and done that” as the saying goes.  I isolated myself and shut my eyes and it got pretty cold there eventually and I did take shelter in the spiritual realms.  Reading spiritual books, meditating, seeking out like-minded individuals, finding a soul family for a while and being helped–but I had to seek a solution and leave the crutches behind, and come in from the cold place where I was making material concerns more important than they should have been.

And that brought me to a ‘2 of Pentacles kind of place’ in my mind and heart.  Through my newly established ‘spiritual legs’ (after haven tossed those crutches away), I was able to be more joyful about life.  I opened my eyes, realized the lessons and the blessings in the recent changes and was able to “go with the flow” as the saying goes.

The gift of the drastic change to external conditions enabled me to further develop the ability to feel much deeper compassion for myself and others.  I found ways to take advantage of the shifts of energy.  I raised my sails and let the winds of change move me and did not resist.

Sometimes there was no wind and I found myself in the ‘doldrums’ on those occasions–once in a  while depression or feelings of hopelessness kicked in.  But by then I had already turned my crutches in for a hoe (I’d learned how to use some spiritual tools) and just like the image on the 7 of Pentacles card (above) I had to contemplate how to use those tools; but figured it out.

Perpetual change was the name of the game in certain periods of my life and those changes helped me to learn how to maintain equilibrium.  I learned a lot about my strengths and also my weaknesses during times of rapid fire change.

I learned to trade in any illusions about the outer world being a stable and safe place and realized (each time and on deeper levels) that all stability and safety is to be sought and found within one’s own spiritual self.  In doing so I calmed myself enough (opening my eyes) to be able to see opportunities around me and also the true beauty of the Earth and Life Itself.  (Capitalization intended).  I saw The Divine everywhere I looked once I found The Source within.

We must not be afraid of change.  We need to “un-stick” ourselves from old conditions and release the past in order to benefit fully from all the gifts that Life has to offer.

We are taught by society that our stability in life comes from the work, the career we have within the framework of society.  We may have prepared for a particular job or career only to find that work dissolve before our eyes.

That happened to me. There was health care reform that affected many professional health care providers like myself for a short time.  Physical Therapists (like myself), Occupational Therapists and Respiratory Therapists–many of us found ourselves applying for job loss benefits.  It was very de-stabilizing time.  And  that was around the time that I found  much more satisfying work that I do as a counselor and professional psychic.

We all must do something in some way when we are feeling destabilized.  We cannot remain too long in that stuck and un-focused state.  We must take those tools (that garden hoe shown in the image of 7 of Pentacles above) and plant some seeds.  While we’re waiting form them to sprout and grow, we cannot loose faith and hope.  Instead, we can firm up our inner spiritual fortress while we’re waiting.

In my case, I built a website to do my psychic work and it was about 3 months before I could see the search engines picked it up and people found me.  Meanwhile however, it was a great joy for me to create the many web pages and load images and write articles for the website.  On days when I had no clients, I used the day to create the next web page and then the one after that.

I continue to have failures and also successes and both have served as great teachers for me– it continues that way.   For myself and for all humans who open their eyes and put down the crutches and pick up the spiritual tools, establish a true connection with the Spiritual Source within and plant those seeds while dancing with the movement of life we are able to recognize opportunity.   Then it becomes clear to us that there is nothing to fear and most of all that we are supported by a kind, giving and loving universe.

We get there by looking inward.

Daily Divination 8-26-11 Doing the Work of Soul Evolution – I CHING Kua 18 with Astrology and Tarot Correlations

IMHO a mistake or error that some “new age” spiritual thought systems or philosophical systems make has to do with denying emotion.  Attempts to “white light” and escape from areas of the psyche (soul) or consciousness without going ‘into’ deep feelings or old wounds to determine their core prevents evolutionary growth by skipping over or omitting examination of one’s role in emotional dynamics.  Many wish to wave their wand of light and “not go there”, preferring to escape or avoid the necessary work that supports growth and evolution.  Take, for example, a situation of a tumultuous or difficult relationship—perhaps even one in which some type of abuse took place.  Without going deeply into the dynamics of that relationship at some point, one avoids seeing how one may have contributed to the problem or the difficult dynamic. Essentially, we escape into the Light when we drop our body and cross to the other side; yet, we realize that we did not really “get it” and then come back again to go back into it so that we can see what needs to be healed, repaired or cleaned up or repaired within our own self.  When we say things like “let me stay in the light and not deal with dark feelings”, many times we defeat the purpose of being here—growth and evolution.  We have to “go there” in order to be able to recognize our own patterns and to repair them.

Today’s cosmic communiqué is inspired by Kua 18 of the I CHING called “Correcting Deficiencies” or “Work That Has Been Spoiled”.

We must first understand the cause of our suffering before we can do away with them and without going deeply into that area and examining it, we cannot ever know.  Without knowing and understanding, release cannot happen.  Negative emotions are not to be feared – they are to be understood and traced back to their source so that they can be corrected, re-worked, understood, repaired, restored, cleared up, so that we are in future able to respond differently, living a life in which old wounds are healed and balanced.

Old beliefs that we hold about victimization or neediness and the like have an opportunity to come to light and be corrected and that is why we’re here but we cannot make those corrections if we are unwilling to look/examine or if we are focused on spaceship brothers/sisters coming to “save us” or some sort of ascension scenario whisking us off to some heaven in the sky. No matter where we go in the cosmos, we take the same consciousness; there’s no real escape without the clean-up and correction work.

Behavior patterns that come from patterns of thinking that do not benefit us create problems lifetime after lifetime until we have enough courage and determination to feel and recognize the pain or negative emotion, go into it and make the necessary adjustment or correction.  The deep soul-searching and psychological uncovering reveals what requires attention so that we can live in The Light; yet, so many run away from this work.

As Ma Deva Padma says, “If you put your dinner leftovers in the fridge where you don’t see them for days on end, eventually they start to grow moldy and stink.  The same thing happens with mistakes and difficulties that we refuse to deal with.  We can pretend we don’t know about them, or disguise them with fragrance.”  But all our mistakes and difficulties are learning experiences and while it is easier to assume we are victim rather than examining our role, we avoid facing reality and only delay the moment of truth in which we must become honest with ourselves.

Looking within the self without denial or embellishment to see what part we have played is of utmost importance; otherwise, nothing changes and patterns repeat.

BOTTOM LINE:  Past problems and issues should be examined so that future progress is not hindered.  Don’t deny emotions; allow them and trace them back to their source and make necessary corrections to erroneous or victimization-type thinking

Daily Divination 7-29-11 Dispersion; Know Thyself; Enlightenment and Lighten Up with a Smile – I-CHING Kua 59 with Astrology and Tarot Keywords

A man who has not passed through the inferno of his passions has never overcome them.

–Carl Jung

Denying one’s own feelings and thoughts is no way to create unity with one’s spirit or have a reunion with higher self. This is similar to shutting down and disconnecting. Is every feeling and thought we have going to be saintly or light-filled? And is it supposed to be? Look around. If we’re human living on planet Earth, probably not every thought and emotion is saint-like; but to suppress or deny what we think or feel is tantamount to separating from ourselves. It also creates a state of living in denial—a false world, an illusion. The religious fundamentals will try to tell us we should only have “pretty thoughts” and anything short is some sort of dirty angel or devil at work or there’s something wrong with us. Yes, there it is, they’d say, we are all imperfect sinners and then they spew their whoopla, which is usually what their preacher told them to say while out evangelizing.

But back to the conditioning that indoctrinates us into an idea that we must always be a particular way—a way in which we deny our own soul. That’s the start of the delusion which left unchecked can lead to a superiority complex or fundamentalism that is dangerous. If we bypass the opportunity for self-reflection that self-acceptance of our thoughts, feelings and tendencies can provide, we close the door to our own self-improvement and evolution and move into the fanaticism realms of life.

When we have a feeling or thought (pretty or not) that comes up, and we allow ourselves to examine it, trace it back to where it began, we can take our first step to healing and true self-improvement (and empowerment)—not suppression or repression.

Whatever is repressed becomes distorted.

I’ve been thinking about all of this today and it wasn’t until now, early evening, that I’ve had the opportunity to do an I-CHING draw. Its Kua 59 called “Dispersion”. It is about dissolving and disintegrating energy through uniting with it and understanding it for the purpose of restoring harmony. Ho! And that’s exactly what I’ve been contemplating today.  My Moon is transiting my 12th House today closely approaching my Mars/Pluto/Saturn stellium — translation:  my mood is very deep and esoteric.  I’m having to dig deeply to attend to this blogging task because almost all of me wants to withdraw, escape and disappear.  🙂  THINK TAROT:  The Hermit.   Moving right along  anyhow….

A  few things came to mind as I typed those last sentences in that paragraph above. One has to do with a smile and the other with some wisdom from Carl Jung who said that we don’t reach enlightenment by envisioning beings of light but rather by bringing light into dark places. That light or knowledge-of-self is able to enlighten; but one has to be fearless and willing to look deeply into one’s self. Yeah, and into those dark places—fearlessly. And when I write the word “dark”, it refers to the places of ignorance or unconscious-ness that self-knowledge can lighten — shed light upon.

That seems to epitomize (to me anyway) the meaning of today’s message inspired from Kua 59/Dispersion. One could say to disperse rather than to repress. To repress is to live a life of delusion; one risks living a distorted life which comes about through an unwillingness to allow and understand one’s own feelings and thoughts in favor of playing a people-pleasing role in order to be accepted.

It makes me think of the planet Mars and the sign it rules, Aries, which is impulsive energy; it learns from its reactions. That archetypical energy evolves through understanding its reactivity. If we don’t allow ourselves to have a reaction and then examine it, how can we possibly ever… ? Well, think of it as the doorway into the unconscious–to the soul.  That’s the message from and the lesson of Mars/Aries.

I’m not supporting a wild idea that we all run around taking everyone’s head off; I’m only suggesting that we not beat ourselves up if we allow the thought or feeling room enough to surface so that we can examine it and learn from it. Besides, sometimes we just need the release—it’s not all that unhealthy once in a while after all.

Another part of this idea of dispersion has to do with lightening up and that’s where that smile that I was thinking of a moment ago comes into play with today’s message. Here’s what I mean and by the way I’m talking about a smile that is sincere, not one stemming from smugness or one that has grown out of a distorted reality or feelings of superiority. I’m talking about one of those ‘home-grown’, down-to-earth, true-to-life types of “I know who you are and I know who I am and I love us both” kind-of-smiles that has nothing whatsoever to do with ego.

Talk about dispersion! When you’ve received one of those smiles from another, you know it and lighten up immediately. This Kua is about lightening up as well as dispersion. The unity of a smile can restore harmony, dissolve divisions and revitalize you, can’t it? How many smiles like that have you given and received lately? Many, I hope! Keep up the good work says Kua 59 of the I-CHING and stay true to that energy within you and others!

That kind of smile comes out of us spontaneously when we know who we are; but we will never know unless we allow ourselves to understand our thoughts, feelings and reactions—something we can’t do unless we allow them. That’s how we grow and evolve and it’s why we’re here in the first place—at least this is my truth for today.  Know Thyself!

Daily Divination 7-23-11 The Greatest Question of Your Life! And Delay is Humbling; I-CHING Kua 9 – Leo, Virgo, Cancer, Magician, The Hermit, Strength, Justice, The Emperor, Judgment

Sometimes we are held back, but with good reason. We either believe that we live in a Universe that is benevolent in which All is working in our favor (no matter how it looks) –OR we don’t.

It was Einstein who said that this is one of the greatest questions of our life. “Albert Einstein once commented that the most fundamental question we can ever ask ourselves is whether or not the universe we live in is friendly or hostile. He hypothesized that your answer to that question would determine your destiny.”

The cosmic communiqué for today is to look at areas of your life where you may feel that you are being blocked—realize that it is only for a short time and this mild restraint is purposeful.

It’s happened in my life too many times to count—and yours too if you’re observant and honest about it. We can all look back and recall times when we experienced life holding us back from advancement—and thank goodness for those times or we’d have made a dire mistake. It all goes back to the Einstein point above—you either trust the universe or you don’t.

“Due to circumstances beyond our control….” – you know that phrase, right? That sort of epitomizes the source from which today’s message is inspired—Kua 9 of the I-CHING. The various names for this Kua give more detail: “The Taming Power of the Small”; “Humble Strength”; “Gentle Restraint, Holding Back”.

BOTTOM LINE: The bottom line message today is that the moment for action on a large-scale has not yet arrived.

Here’s an example. You know those times when the clouds in the sky turn grey and the wind starts to pick up and all indications are that it’s going to rain–but then it doesn’t? Like that! It will rain eventually and while the potential is there, it’s (for reasons beyond our control) being held back. It looks like it should rain, but no rain—and if you wanted the rain to occur; it can be a bit frustrating and disappointing that it never rains a drop. But then the bottom falls out and it pours—later! Of course, we could flip that example—days of rain and the Sun tries to come up and doesn’t for days on end–and then and then suddenly the rain stops, the clouds go away and there’s the Sun brighter than ever.

It’s at these times that I like to remember a line made known by Byron Katie, “It wasn’t ‘supposed to’ rain. How do we know? Because it didn’t!” And that brings us round again to Einstein’s greatest question whose answer determines your experience.

Sometimes we want to make a big change and “things happen” causing all of our efforts to get us nowhere—that’s simply life. What’s the advice for these times?

You cannot ‘push the river’ or cannot ‘make it rain’—practice watching events unfold with dispassion and with passive alertness.

Carry on without being overly attached to particular outcomes—reinforce a core belief that the universe is ultimately working in your favor.

Life is giving us an opportunity in those times to explore our humility and trust. The image on the card above contains a spider from which we can take a lesson. She works tiredly to prepare her web without anyone noticing. Many times her work becomes damaged—the web becomes torn. She simply tends to the repairs as soon as the notices. She doesn’t seek attention and she works quietly and efficiently blending into her surroundings—and when she’s done she waits.

That whole spider and web thing reminds me of my first website. We often hear the phrase made famous in the movies, “If you build it, they will come.” That’s true but not until google’s spiders pick up the site and list and link it! If you’ve ever created a website, you know the feeling of having worked tirelessly on a website and then publishing it and it’s a while before anything really happens traffic-wise. Maybe it’s different these days, but that’s how it was when I created my first website. Anyway, that’s just another example of today’s message—don’t let minor impediments get you down!

Daily Divination 7-16-11 Full Moon-Time to Lighten Up Through Contemplation; I CHING Kua 20 – Leo, Virgo, Capricorn, Aquarius, Death, The Empress, The World, The Magician, The Hermit, Strength

How well do we accept things as they are, without feeling the need for improvement?

Can we be silent and serene like the current full Moon?

What example do we set for others?

Are we truly living in harmony with All That Is?

How sympathetic are we to another’s point of view?

These are some good questions from Kua 20.   Particulary good ones for me to be asking myself after yesterday’s ego trip—see blog of 7-15-11.

Today’s message is inspired by the I CHING Kua 20. It’s time to lighten the mind.

Reverent Solitude enables one to gain an overview, observe from a detached position, increase understanding and integrate through refection. The current full Moon energy can enhance such contemplation.

The result of contemplation can be this insight, “I am all that I perceive; all that is resides in me.”

Sometimes we don’t want to admit that to ourselves—we believe that any disharmony that we experience comes from outside of us. In contemplation we can see the truth clearly—we just need the larger view that meditative equipoise can provide. It is like going to the mountain top again and attaining the overview.

The Astrology Correlations to Kua 20 are:

Leo – the heart of your be-ing

Virgo – taking stock; using discernment

Capricorn – stability; midheaven

Aquarius –detachment

The Tarot Correlations to Kua 20 are:

Death – going into the depth of one’s being

The Empress – beauty and grace in daily living

The World – All That Is; Unity Consciousness

Magician – Transmutation

The Hermit – retreating from activity

Strength – power coming from acceptance

With the Moon in Capricorn and the Sun in Cancer (full Moon opposition to Sun), issues of parenting as well as emotional security and maturity may be coming to a head.  All the more reason to apply the advice of today’s message.

Cosmic Communiqué 6-20-11 Down Time can be a Good Thing! View Changes in Plans Today as Opportunities! Kua 41, The Magician, The Hermit, Strength – Leo, Virgo

Today’s divination message is that down-time and up-time are simply a part of life and to use down time to your greatest advantage–don’t let down-time get you down!

Get back to basics today and work on the structure of your life reinforcing foundations.

There are times to plant and times to harvest and today is a good day to work in the fields, so-to-speak, and release concerns about decrease in any way that decrease may be showing up in your life.

Don’t worry about it; instead use your time wisely and energize your projects.

Blame games are simply a waste of time and energy which can be better used to come up with a new plan or energize the one that you have not had time to work on.

Simplicity is a good thing and today is a day to honor the concept of simplicity.

Plans may change today, so expect the unexpected.

If that happens, draw on inner strength and go within and manifest something new or work on a project that you’ve been putting off. Work on some form of creative self-expression.

For myself, I see the relevance of today’s divination in my life today and generally. Today I had a certain plan for certain activities but this changed unexpectedly. So, I have time for something else that needs doing.

Generally, and this is probably true of many folks who are self-employed, there are busy times and other times not so much. It’s like back when I was in my teen’s and had a job at the drugstore as a cashier.

I marveled at how no customers would be at the register for a good while and then suddenly there was a line of people waiting at my register for check out that went half way down an isle!

“It’s feast or famine”, as the saying goes–and that’s life and that’s the meaning of today’s divination from Kua 41.

When nobody was at the register, I had time to organize the cash drawer and inventory if I needed more quarters or dimes or tidy up my work area.

Today’s divination is inspired by the I CHING Kua 41 (SUN/Decrease) which relates to the Tarot cards of THE MAGICIAN, THE HERMIT and STRENGTH as well as the astrological signs LEO and VIRGO.

If we blend keywords for the Tarot correlations, we could say “create” (The Magician) by “withdrawing” (The Hermit) and “channel productive energy, stay strong and persevere” (Strength).  Adding the Leo and Virgo aspects, we could say to create (Leo) your own work (Virgo) today.

And now since my planned activity has changed, if you will excuse me, I have plan B that I’m off to take care of! It’s always good to have a few plans waiting in the wings!

Generally, release concerns about any plans the change today or any decrease you experience and know it is only temporary; what goes up must come down and what hits bottom, must rise again—that’s life.

Besides, there’s a reason for everything under the SUN and either you believe the universe is working in your favor or you don’t; I choose to believe it is!

See you tomorrow…

Decrease combined with sincerity brings about good fortune without blame.  One may be persevering in this. It furthers one to undertake something.

Be willing to let go and forgive others who are [or have been] a source of constraint.  Use this time to diminish your involvements and to return to basic values.  Respect simplicity and quietude.  This is an interim period of rest and outward inaction.

Daily Divination April 19,2011 Persevere in the Face of Frustrations- Personal Power and Leo – Strength!

Persevere!

Today’s cosmic communiqué has to do with the Strength of Perseverance.

You will get there!  Where? (See yesterday’s divination message).  Deal calmly with frustrations!  I’m going to tell you a little personal story to convey today’s message for you.  And, as always, no matter when you come to this post, the message applies to your NOW in the spirit of divine timing.  Ready?  On to the (true story) storytelling….

When I drew the tarot card which inspires this message, I was flooded with a memory of a very long drive that I made alone; it was a non-stop 23+ hour drive.  That one trip mimicked a lifetime of up’s and down’s and moments of despair (I’ll never be able to make it) as well as moments of inspiration and confidence.  Yet, I persevered; actually because I had no choice.

I had no money for a hotel and just had to keep on driving until I arrived at my destination.   I rested several times by pulling the car over to those “rest stops” along the way and after a refreshing 20 minutes with my eyes closed with the seat tilted back, resumed my journey.

There is no choice but to persevere… keep on keeping on. That’s how life is

It seems to be the major theme of my life actually.  But then again 8 is one of my life number’s (numerology) and the Strength Card can really be called ‘the story of my life’.  But this message is not about me, it’s about YOU and the cosmic communiqué today.  So, back to the story…

"Thats a very nice way. But its pleasant down that way too. Of course, some people go both ways."

The last leg of my journey was off the Interstate and the most difficult.  It was 2 AM and I was trying to locate a little town in Virginia’s Chesapeake Bay area and seemed to be getting lost in a maze of bridges, little fishing towns, railroad tracks and fog.

Every road I was on seemed to be named with two different route numbers and many intersections were like the Wizard of Oz Scarecrow pointing both ways!  The fog and fatigue weren’t helping either and while I did (in the time before cell phones) manage to find a telephone booth that had a working phone, the voice on the other end wasn’t giving me very clear directions either since I wasn’t able to describe my current location.  The world was asleep and mine was the only car on the highway.

Life itself in the totality of the journey from birth to death has times like these!

The more I tried to figure out where I was so that I could determine where I was going and how to get there, the more lost I became.

Those roads named all those different numbers weren’t helping me at all.

I surrendered, but not in the way you may think.  I had to let my intuition guide me and forget the maps and numbers–my TripleA Triptik did me absolutely no good in this maze of fishing towns and bridges–none whatsoever!
I gave up on that shortly after I exited the interstate. Yes, it was the good ole’ days before Voice Nav GPS’s—can you imagine?

There was a surrendering to a guidance system that had nothing to do with maps or signs on that last leg of my journey and that’s what got me to my destination after driving nearly 24 hours straight!

I had to quit letting the Triptik, the road signs and the useless phone directions have control over me!  And I couldn’t let myself become angry or overly frustrated!

That would have cost me dearly the precious energy that I needed to stay aware.

I had to tap into my inner resources and open my heart to more divine help.

The Strength card in Tarot relates to Leo energy and of course we see the symbol of the Lion in the strength card of Tarot [image at the top of this post].

Leo is a character building energy and challenges our spirit to “take heart” in spite of difficulties and setbacks—especially those that occur right near the finish line!

I used to run 10K road races back in my jogging days and it was always that last half-mile was the hardest—you’re almost there but don’t quite see that finish line!  That can be grueling, mentally which translates physically, especially on courses that have twists and turns –you can’t see the finish line.  Once you have it within view, however… what a relief!

Just like driving in the night in the fog with the confusing signs, once you see the “Welcome to ______”  sign for the city/town you’ve been looking for, my goodness it’s a joy!

What sign are you looking for in life right now?  What destination?

Leo energy is about having a gallant spirit and unshakable resolve and relates to stamina and the strength to endure in the face of exhaustion and what feels like insurmountable obstacles.

And that’s what today’s message is all about.  And today you are being reminded about using your strong will.  Leo energy will spit in the face of her persecutors and will never give up!  (That’s metaphorical and not literal.)

Leo is ruled by the Sun and is associated with the heart—both physical and metaphysical. Leo is filled with personal purpose and personal power.  Tap into your Leo energy, your personal power, and persevere!

The race is not always to the swift, but to those who keep on running!

(Years ago, I had a poster hanging in my room with this message, with an image of a long winding road.)
