This week’s Main Players: Mars conjunct Saturn and Mercury conjunct Jupiter
Mars conjunct Saturn August 22 – 26, 2016
Youth/Mars and Adult/Saturn. This is back to school time in most places and the skies align with the sign of impulsive, immature Mars meeting closely with stable, mature Saturn. Both signs are in Sagittarius which is generally thought to be the sign related to optimism, growth and also education. As above, so below. It seems pretty clear to me! We would all sense the effect of this transit through the first 7 to 10 days of September.
Generally, we would all, in some way, likely be considering some new philosophy or belief (Sag) and some way to apply it to some new discipline or work (Saturn). It may feel exciting and we may feel great passion about it (Mars).
In every sense, this is a positive aspect, unless you have been much too unruly and out of control–the “Lord of Karma” i.e. Saturn will be implementing the law of cause and effect. You will receive what you deserve one way or another.
Sustained growth through patient endeavors — that’s one theme for the week! If you are able to Continue reading →
The Moon (and therefore the mooD) wants to be immersed in wholeness. The emotional experience is wide, includes everything. Here’s a personal experience to (hopefully) explain those first few sentences better. The Moon is moving through my own 9th house now so I am describing from that point of view. Everything seems linked to everything else emotionally much too easily right now. Example: when one thought/feeling comes up, it’s like a Google search return/result. I feel “this” because of “that” which is related to “this other thing” and while the emotions cannot be safely or securely compartmentalized, in order not to go into “overwhelm”, it’s best not to go into the one first though/feeling because it leads to all the others much too easily—immersed into the wholeness of it all.
This 9th House Moon relates to the archetype of the house ruler Jupiter/Sagittarius. “Big Picture” is one archetype here. Personally, the feeling I have about anything emotional right now is this: best not to “go there” with that first feeling. Better to let all those emotions go or drown in them. That’s a personal example of wide experiences that are associated with the 9th house and corresponding Jupiter/Sag largeness. Jupiter, by the way, is known to intensify and expand any area that it touches.
So if a Moon is here in the 9th, it is looking to feel secure and happy (as all Moons are), it has to consider the whole big picture with emotional things. This can be good or bad depending on what the other astrological influences the Moon is involved with at the time. But no matter what the other influences are, one is that the Moon will affect our psyche in such a way that it gathers up and unifies all emotional links, binding them together in a big picture.
The emotional nature during this transit could be attracted to something outside of personal cultural norms in order to feel secure or happy–philosophy, long distance travel, interest in other cultures are all 9th house archetypes and a Moon here could trigger those interests as a way of feeling emotionally happy. One example of that may be turning to spiritual beliefs or rituals that are outside of one’s own culture. Perhaps a westerner turning to Hindu or Buddhist philosophy to cope with or resolve any emotional discomfort of the day.
Generally the mood during the time of this lunar transit could be extremely sensitive to moral issues. One specific example could involve the karma of truth-telling versus telling lies. Personally, I seem to experience people who change their tune based on their current changing needs and therefore their version of the truth changes based on their current need, desire or mood. The 9th and it’s polarity the 3rd is sometimes called the “truth versus lies” axis and it’s also known as the B.S. axis too.
Essentially, the 9th house Luna is looking for “meaning” in the life at the time of this transit. The ‘search for meaning’ and also the ‘big picture’ archetypes could be why the intuition and right brain are associated with this house. Luna here would trigger the right brain and intuitive faculties.
An emotional question during this transit of the Moon could typically be something like, “What does it all mean?” or “What is the Universe trying to tell me?” Again, the search for meaning. This is because the energy of the Moon at this time enables us to feel the connections of the experiences linked to various emotions but we may not know what the greater message is. (Then again, maybe we do.)
So the theme here is “the search for truth” and “the search for meaning”.
Some call this house “The House of the Believer”. Our emotional connections during this transit may be prompting us to ask “What do I believe?” And each month during this transit those beliefs may change or restructure a little bit based on emotion.
Another consideration is that our emotional responses to this searching and belief-adjusting and other emotional triggers can cause us to “damn the torpedoes” as the saying goes or to take a course of action despite known risks! We could leap wide-eyed into the unknown.
Still another response of this transit of Luna in house 9 could be that we wrap emotion around a belief and become self righteous in what we believe. This would be less than a positive response to our emotion. I’ve heard a astrologer call this the Jerry Fallwell house of “convince and convert”. (Religion!)
However we respond to life with Luna stimulating this area of our life, it is good to remember that we’re motivated by our own (sometimes selfish) desire to feel happy and secure.
Dreams could be more active at this time, and as mentioned above, our personal philosophy could be adjusted or changed at this time due to our emotions.
If we are waiting for the manifestation of something we wish to create or experience in life, this is a time when it will be difficult to be patient–impatience (an emotion) will be most acute at this time.
It’s a good time to examine your basic values, priorities, beliefs and assumptions. That said (or typed), I think of the line Byron Katie (The ‘Work’) is famous for, “Can you absolutely know that this is true?”
When Luna triggers the 9th house area of your life as I’ve been describing in this post, it is a good time to get away from ‘the ordinary’. Maybe read a book that will give you some new pictures and perspectives about your concerns now.
Its a good time to take a class, to learn something new that will help you with faith, intuition and/or philosophy. Your emotional nature will be attracted to this naturally when Luna moves through your 9th house. New areas of interest fulfill emotional needs at that time.
As I write this blog post Luna is in my 9th house . And I ordered a book today about writing and publishing. This feels very emotionally satisfying. It’s right on time. The 9th h house is about learning new things and it’s known for its connection to publishing. Learning something new fulfills my emotional needs now and by the way another archetype of the 9th house is education. These are the kinds of endeavors that enhance one’s happiness and sense of satisfaction and security when the Moon transits the 9th.
Planning a trip could also be something that fulfills emotional needs as Luna moves through this house of your chart—especially if this travel involves going to a foreign place.
Generally, optimism is assigned to this house and so this lunar transit is usually a time when this emotion is more prominent–one has to simply use care about the level of optimism balancing it with practicality.
Next, the 10th house! As I finish typing this post, the Moon has already arrived in my 10th. Last night I tripped over a pair of shoes that one of my roommates left in front of the door. It was dark. I nearly feel but kept my balance thinking of how broken bones could could have resulted had I not. The 10th is ruled by Saturn and Capricorn whose archetype relates to structure and bones; grateful that all mine are intact despite a near fall. If you’re following these posts, see you in the 10th House!
Did we know because we’re psychic or did we simply create what we expected?
That’s a pickle for some people—sometimes, me too. Here’s what been happening. Over time people have suggested that I take some action and I knew (actually based on some fact) the pointless outcome that it would produce. “It would be useless”—that was what every intuitive cell in my body told me.
Talk to “The Hand”
I took the action suggested (mostly out of pure frustration) and sure enough it was as pointless as my intuition told me it would be. Remember that old Seinfeld episode where the phrase “talk to the hand” became popular?—at least that’s the first place I ever heard it. Essentially, it means you may as well talk to a wall or the wind—it will get you the same result. Well, that was the experience when frustration urged me to follow the suggestions of others.
The question ultimately then is did I get the result that I expected and did I create the result through my expectation? (all psychic stuff aside). OR, did I already know via my psychic ability what the result would be, proving my intuitive prowess?
We always have that moment wherein we stop and say to ourselves, “Hey. Wait. Did I just actually create that based on my expectation or was this just my intuitive impression panning out accurately?”
We have to blend fact with our intuition—in astrological terms we’d call that right brain Jupiter/Sag blending with left brain Mercury/Gemini. Don’t’ forget that in this case there was some history, some fact which blended with my intuition.
All that aside, I must say that I never expected the level of bold face lying and denial that I was facing yesterday. I’m sure my mouth was open; it was incredulous!
I’ve not been able to put on my apartment heat because it draws up the smells from downstairs (Indian cooking and perhaps Hookah smoking), so I was coming into my apartment with a small plug-in floor heater to compensate. Just as I saw the male tenant beneath me exiting his apartment, I asked him if he knew how to put the central air unit on fan to create a sound buffer between our apartments since I cannot run mine until the smell goes away.
I nearly pleaded with him to turn on and keep is fan on to create a sound/noise buffer between our apartments. His central air venting system runs underneath my floor. And then I added, by the way, the slamming of your fists on the wall is definitely not cool and I’d appreciate it if you’d stop that.
I had mentioned that to the office girls while in the rental office earlier in the day—one of my downstairs neighbors may have a temper because occasionally they slam the wall full force – and only days earlier did so right beneath where I was sitting typing. Nobody –and I mean nobody – who was present at that moment and in their right mind would have questioned where it originated! A two year old could have pointed to the direction from which the sound came! Yet, the Indian man stood directly in front of me and with a straight face and with a calm voice said, “Any sounds you hear—any banging—are not coming from our apartment.” I could hardly believe my ears!
I figured talking to them would not do much good but to have the person offer me such a bold faced lie was incredulous, ridiculous, seditious and so absurd that it was nearly laughable. I suddenly thought of that childhood rhyme, “Liar, liar pants on fire!” Why, at the moment, Pinocchio with the nose growing longer didn’t enter my mind, who knows. I have my own theories about the pants on fire meaning but it’s often followed by “pants hanging from a telephone wire”–William Blake’s poem at the bottom of this post called “The Liar” is where that may have come from. Anyway…
With great composed calm that I’m sure he must muster for the same theatrical performance for the rental office personnel, he added that any smells that come through the vent do not originate from his apartment. A statement as equally astounding to my ears! (What? are you kidding?)
I have rarely in my life dealt with such bold faced lying—well, I don’t think ever really now that I think of it. How totally amusing to have something so obvious be so calmly excused and denied in such a matter of fact business like way! Talk about a donkey!
And one who was standing right there insulting my intelligence. If he wants to sing that song to the people in the rental office, that’s one thing but I practically live with these people! There’s nothing but some 2 x6’s, a sheet of plywood, air venting ducts and some sheet rock and stucco separating me from what I hear below me and believe me, they way these folks talk, the sounds of their voices are undeniable. I literally hear them in my sleep! There’s absolutely no mistaking the owners of the voices that were yelling right after the wall slamming! I thought, “Oh, Please, who do you think you’re talking to?”
Oh and regarding my request that he put on the central air unit fan, his reply was that he already does that— This guy thinks everyone is born yesterday? Or what?
Mind game. Game over.
I told him that I am walking away from him since we cannot even have an intelligent conversation if he is going to deny everything. And he stood there as I turned and I hear hin saying, ‘I’m sorry, I’m sorry” even though he owned up to not one thing to apologize for! I felt absolutely no sincerity in his words whatsoever.
Beam me up Scotty—there’s no intelligent life force here!
But the original point here had to do with the event, the experience – was it a manifestation of my expectation (as in: you create your reality) or was it people being human and dishonest and my intuition already knowing that.
However, I have to say that I figured talking to them would likely elicit a certain amount of denial because they went down that road in the beginning with the rental personnel; YET, never in a million years would I have expected that level of bold faced lying!
I’ve never experienced anything like it and could have never imagined it happening to that degree.
I think we can and do have intuitive or psychic feelings about likely outcomes that will occur if we make certain choices which have little or nothing to do with creating our expectations. These hunches or feelings or intuitions, when followed, are what keep us out of danger or out of trouble.
I’m actually not sorry that I had the conversation with the Indian guy as shocking as it was—I walked away shaking my head, shrugging my shoulders, thinking, “What a donkey”. However, it has certainly become a lot quieter since!
It has never been so quiet down there, except when they were out of town for the weekend. I hope it lasts and I am grateful. Please, let it last! Its been a beautifully peaceful weekend.

Your trousers are alight
From what pole or gallows
Shall they dangle in the night?
When I asked of your career
Why did you have to kick my rear
With that stinking lie of thine
Proclaiming that you owned a mine?
When you asked to borrow my stallion
To visit a nearby-moored galleon
How could I ever know that you
Intended only to turn him into glue?
What red devil of mendacity
Grips your soul with such tenacity?
Will one you cruelly shower with lies
Put a pistol ball between your eyes?
What infernal serpent
Has lent you his forked tongue?
From what pit of foul deceit
Are all these whoppers sprung?
Your trousers are alight
From what pole or gallows
Do they dangle in the night?
FEED YOUR SUN TO ENHANCE YOUR LIFE FORCE AND TO FEEL STRONG, HAPPY, ENERGIZED
The Sun Sign is like a key which enables us to turn it to reach a particular channel of consciousness that vitalizes our essence physically, mentally and spiritually. A weak Sun enables us to fall apart easily, feel physically weak, disoriented and depressed. We need the Sun, the Light to energize our heart–our spirit here. When our Sun is healthy we feel strong and able to handle the challenges of life. We should each know what it is that nourishes us and helps us feel our own power—and astrology can help us. We should know and study the sign of our Sun and that’s the reason for today’s post!
I will list each Sun sign and a line or two about what you need to nourish your body, mind and soul to keep yourself healthy and energized—we should know how to feed our Sun; how to bring more Light into our body, mind and spirit so that we can feel happy here!
The Sun is thought to be Male energy—the animus as Jung called it. Our Sun is our Life Force (as above, so below)–it’s our Prana and it helps us with our creative expression here. More basically it is what produces our will to live and so we should know how to nourish it.
Nourishing (feeding) our Sun is what helps us to feel confident and it is different for each of us, based on our birth data.
Almost everyone knows their Sun sign but if you don’t, I will include the list of signs with dates below. This list isn’t intended to be all inclusive—this is just off the top of my head so-to-speak mentioning some of the key points that come to mind about each Sun which my own Libra Sun needs to do in order to feel energized an purposeful i.e. “relating”. Anyway, here we go…
SUN IN ARIES (born March 21 – April 20)
You need fire and to express courage and a pioneering spirit and be out front or first in anything you do. Any activity that encourages such things will feed your Sun and help your life force sparkle and shine brighter. You need excitement and to try new things—as many as you can even if you don’t follow up with everything you start, you need those exciting “new starts” often and in some form in order to feed your Sun and help you feel confident and alive .
SUN IN TAURUS (born April 21 – May 20)
You need earth and to express your very practical ideas in any way that you can. You are good at handling resources and expressing this skill helps you to feed your life force and feel confident. When you work with money/finances you shine just like you do when you express your strong tastes in creating beauty with earth resources. When you care for your physical needs and comforts, you energize your body, mind and spirit.
SUN IN GEMINI (born May 21 – June 21)
You need air, mental, thought to energize your sense of dualism—and when you can hold two views at the same time or unite two sets of opposites, this helps you to feel confident and powerful. When you allow yourself to use your natural born gift of observation and combine that with words in any way—shazam, you are really rocking and feeling your light grow brighter. Mental stimulation in any way, shape or form energizes you and when you talk about things this too helps body, mind and spirit unite—expressing yourself does it for you and helps you feel vital and alive.
SUN IN CANCER (born June 22 – July 22)
Water, emotions and security are the key words here that feed this Sun and help people in this sign feel strong and vital. Home, family and tradition and things to do with the past help you feel a sense of purpose that enlivens your body, mind and soul. Building a sense of home and doing that groundwork for that purpose feeds your sun and helps you feel more powerful, confident and alive – you take the past and create a self-image from that making an identity that helps you feel more yourself. When you care for others and protect and nurture them, this feeds your own Sun—your life force. If you don’t use your deep feelings to care for others, you feel more vulnerable and loose energy; however, if your home or security are threatened this enables you to find your Sun and call upon your own natural inner strength making you aware of it and this ultimately enables you to feel more alive, confident and purposeful.
SUN IN LEO (born July 23 – Aug 22, 23)
This person needs fire, passion and awareness of self and feels enlivened when in any kind of central position or at the core of anything that is going on. If this type of individual is not feeling popular with others, it can dampen the spirit and it’s like put a blanket over their life force. The person born under this Sun will feel the need to reach the pinnacle of achievement in some area but must also remember to have fun so that work and pleasure are in equal measure—if not, the life force depletes and the Sun is not being fed. There is a susceptibility to flattery from others until this individual can learn how to nourish their own Sun by self-acceptance and true self-awareness.
SUN IN VIRGO (born August 23, 23 – September 22, 23)
Humility, compassion and modesty and an urge to be of service and make a significant difference in the world in a hands-on and grounded way that is practical and useful; this is what feeds and nourishes the body, mind and spirit of those born under the Virgo Sun. Other Sun signs can take advantage of the service oriented Virgo nature who likes to work behind the scenes. Satisfaction comes from giving attention to details and by pursuing a natural interest in healing—those activities feed the Virgo Sun helping this individual feel confident and vital.
SUN IN LIBRA (born September 23, 24 – October 22, 23)
The emphasis here is on non-self or the ‘other’ and on anything air related such as writing, speaking and in any way ‘relating’. When the person born under this sign is uniting with others in some way there comes a feeling of wholeness and balance and harmony. A person born under this Sun has a consideration of other people’s feelings, such as even if this person is expressing anger it is on behalf of another rather than self. The Libra soul really has a strong need to justice and fair play and working for the benefit of others is what enables this soul to be energized and feel confident and vital.
SUN IN SCORPIO (born October 23, 24 – November 22)
The person born under this Sun has an urge to fight an conquer foes whether real or imagined and the need is to slay a dragon of some type and so here feeling the power of tenacity makes on feel alive and vital. There’s an innate need for passion and sometimes engaging in activities to the point of obsession but this level of intensity is needed in order to feed body, mind and soul. If the person can dig deeply for the truth even to the point of doing research in some way to find the deep bottom-line answer, then the life force is energized. Anything involving psychology and learning about the motivations of others helps the person born under this sign to feel vital, alive and generally purposeful which feeds their life force.
SUN IN SAGITTARIUS (born November 23 – December 21, 22, 23)
Expansion of the solar forces to their fullest potential happen with those born under the Sag Sun and there needs to be a wide field or area for this person to express their life force energy. Here we have individuals who have a huge abundance of tolerance naturally and when this is being expressed, the Sag person feels that sense of purpose being fulfilled. Honesty, freedom and optimism and cheerfulness need to be allowed expression in order for the person born under this Sun to feel confident and vitally alive. The naturally restless spirit of the Sag Sun individual is soothed by experiencing some type of adventure and having an expression of freedom in their life in some way. Teaching helps someone born in Sag to feel vitally alive, purposeful and thus feeds that life force, their Sun. Travel or planning a trip is also something that a Sagittarius can do in order to feed their Sun!
SUN IN CAPRICORN (born December 22, 23, 24 – January 20)
The Sun’s rays are usually weaker during these months but inside this individual there is a quiet drive that is powerfully present and needs feeding. Anything requiring tenacity and determination will feed the body, mind and spirit of this individual. This person needs a goal and something to master in some field or endeavor and has what it takes to endure hardship and to overcome obstacles and when these hardships and obstacles are overcome, the life force is revitalized. There is purpose on the path of overcoming life that feeds this person’s body, mind and spirit. This Capricorn Sun needs responsibility and can thrive on it!
SUN IN AQUARIUS (born January 21 – February 19)
The person born under this Sun thrives on cooperation with others; and without it their life force fades and wanes. Personal satisfaction comes from considering others first and in fact self-promotion diminishes one’s feeling of power and confidence. Sharing with others and humanitarian concerns rule this individuals deepest inner desires and help one feel the life is being well-lived and furthers the feelings of brotherhood and friendship that keep this Sun fed. Technology is also a place wherein a person born under this sign can shine and feel confident and purposeful; so developing technical skill helps one feel like shining even brighter especially if the technology enhances other people’s welfare.
SUN IN PISCES (born 2/20 – 3/20)
The solar forces are probably the weakest here in those born under this sign. Yet, in times of adversity, the solar spark ignites and inner strength asserts itself. Here we can see folks who can be very resistant but in a very passive way but the resistance can be arduous and formidable. The person born under this sign feels confidence and life force grow when expressing adaptability, tolerance and compassion. If the person born under a Pisces Sun works on behalf of those less fortunate this generally motivates their life. So, therefore, charity work and healing work are of benefit in feeding the Sun of those born under Pisces. The thing here is that the individual is basically very kind but others perceive this as weakness and then take advantage; therefore, boundaries are crucial for those born under this Sun Sign. If anything in the arts using imagination are pursued (music, dancing, etc.) this can feed the Sun here since those born with a Pisces Sun have a strong imagination. Grounding, naturally, is something that should be balanced with the imaginative nature.
I hope this little list will help you to know how to feed your own Sun and also for you to know a bit about how to help your family and friends enhance their life force as well.
PERSONAL INTENTION AND PRAYER:
May this information reach the right people and the right time in order to make a positive difference in their life and may their life force be energized beyond measure for the good of all.
It’s the middle of the summer eclipse season 2013! Lunar! Solar! Partial! Full! Whatever! A one word can suffice: change. Yeah, okay. But what kind and what for and what to do about it? Well, how its playing out in each of our lives can be somewhat different but the main theme is change. So, it all started in April with the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio; so a Scorpio Moon; check your schedules, journals, calendars or reflect back to the 25th of April during that full Moon. (I did and see a theme developing with finances; not surprising when we’re dealing with Scorpio and the opposite polarity Taurus. They rule the 2nd and 8th zodiac houses of our money/other people’s money—generally speaking as a huge over-simplified theme. Survival, values, self-worth and issues of power/control and these types of categories—that’s what we’re talking about, if we’re getting thematic and we are.
TECHNICAL—SKIP THIS PARAGRAPH IF YOU’RE NOT ‘INTO’ ASTROLOGY: Most people don’t know these details about themselves but I’ll mention anyway that if anyone has planets in Taurus, Leo, Scorpio or Aquarius that are between 1 and 11 degrees, that this energy will be most deeply felt. Why? Because this upcoming Full Moon Eclipse on the 25th of May happens at 5 degrees and is triggering the lot of any planets in those signs and in those degrees via aspects or angles, that’s why.
But even if you don’t know those details, everyone has transiting Saturn (in Scorpio) and Mars (in Taurus) triggered at that time. So, you’re effected with or without knowledge of your planets, houses or signs. But knowledge is power, so let’s continue.
Although I just said that I’d leave myself out of it, Saturn in Scorpio brought (for me) deep emotional sadness (my brother had just died) and other emotions had me initiating (Mars) some new ideas about monetary survival concerns (Taurus). I’m sharing this for the purposes of helping others understand their own astrological eclipse energy as I try to figure this thing out myself. What is the message that is being given to us by the universe this eclipse season?
Eclipses can suddenly expose a hidden problem and are like the ‘wild cards’ of the zodiac which can bring up stressful emotions, chaotic events or they can be very positive and exciting. I’m sure there are those who feel little or no effect at all. Why so? Well, it depends on whether or not those signs relate to something significant in the natal chart triggering the soul’s karmic past or evolutionary goal—some eclipses do and others don’t. Just because someone experiences an eclipse season as mild, doesn’t indicate some type of spiritual advancement. Besides, let’s face it. If we got hit intensely and heavily with each and every single eclipse, chances are we’d be overwhelmed—that’s why we have something called ‘time’ to slow it all down for us. So, wipe the grin off your face if you are not being affected by this particular eclipse, there’s always next year!
My Natal North and South Nodes are being hit by this eclipse season so my soul’s karmic past and evolutionary intention are really being shaken. Last year, the summer eclipses (in which I relocated from the mountains to this apartment complex down mountain) occurred I the signs Gemini-Sagittarius. One archetype of this zodiac axis relates to short trips and travel—that axis in my natal chart occurs in 5-11, the archetypes of children (5th) and the clan/community (11th). I’m in the community now “fer’ shure” as we used to say it in the 80’s. I moved into this apartment complex where my children live. And I did so last year between the May 20th and June 4th eclipse. My move in date was the 21st of May last year, 2012. So all that Gemini-Sag eclipse stuff that last year is being mentioned here as an example of how an eclipse season can work. Let’s get current–it’s now one year later, May 9, 2013.
So much for history; let’s return to the NOW. Scorpio – Taurus is where we’re at for this years eclipse season encore. And for me triggers more family/career stuff since in my life, the natal nodes are in the 4-10 house axis. Again, if you are born with personal planets in Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius; then you’re being affected.
My whole generation is feeling the effects of this eclipse since all people born in the Pluto in Leo generation which is roughly between the years of 1940 and 1957 are affected by these eclipses in Taurus/Scorpio via the square; especially if their Pluto is within orb or between 1 and 11 degrees Leo.
Oh, I may be getting too technical. We’re just talking about what issues can cause concern when we look at the signs and houses that an eclipse affects.
WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A SOLAR AND LUNAR ECLIPSE?
ANSWER: Just as a general rule of thumb, solar eclipses are more external dealing with outer world events while the lunar eclipses are more emotional and internal.
So let’s go back to April 25th. We checked the calendar/journal/schedule and reflected back to that last week or so of April a moment ago—was that more internal or external for you? We feel intensely emotional about something and that can result in taking the bull-by-the-horns so to speak and initiating an external event. I was re-thinking my whole approach to things at that time due to some emotional unrest and as a result did initiate a few outer world experiences. I will leave the details to your imagination.
Eclipses have a profound effect on a person’s life—at least potentially depending upon what other planets it triggers. The tension may last only a few weeks; however the change that happens in that period can last a lifetime.
Take, for example, the eclipse season of last summer as it relates to my own life. The move closer to my family—definitely true that things that have happened this past year did affect my life and the lives of my family and the affects likely will last a lifetime i.e. our relationships, memories and all of that. So there’s a good example. The intensity of the move—the packing up and moving in took weeks but the change? Well, pretty dramatic.
Eclipses can illuminate areas of one’s life—like shining a light on the person, the path bringing into awareness something that beforehand was not being noticed. We could say something like removing a blind spot! I think that’s a good way to phrase it. Whatever has been pushed to one side or shoved under the carpet becomes obvious. Sometimes I think of eclipses as earthquakes—especially after last summer as well as the current energy.
Today’s eclipse (May 9th 2013) is Solar and this Sun/Moon conjunction is closely (as mentioned earlier) merged with Mercury, Mars and most importantly the South Node. So past life or even this current lifetime’s past memories and past actions (Karma possibly-?) is being illuminated revealing, once again, possible blind spots.
The next eclipse of this series is another Lunar Eclipse and occurs on May 25 on the full Moon. There are two eclipse seasons every year – lunar eclipses are the byproducts of any given solar eclipse. Therefore, the eclipse ahead of us on the 25th (Full Moon Lunar eclipse) is the byproduct of today’s New Moon Solar Eclipse.
Today’s Solar Eclipse may bring events that we have not consciously precipitated or triggered and then the consequential upcoming Full Moon Lunar eclipse on the 25th will be associated with events brougth about by our own thoughts and feelings.
Let me end with a quote from astrologer Dena DeCastro’s (www.denadecastro.com) recent newsletter to give us more of an idea about this eclipse season. Her comments echo other astrologers all of whom are saying essentially the same thing. About this eclipse season Dena wrote:
“We’re being invited to confront our fears, and to let go of the things we’ve held on to – habits, ideas, material things – that makes us feel secure. And, that’s the South Node in Taurus: we are learning to release attachment to some things that have allowed us to be comfortable for a while. The evolutionary condition is that, as a whole, we have become too comfortable, cozy, sleepy. Inertia has set in (shadow side of Taurus). Scorpio medicine invites us to surrender to what feels out of our control. For example, intense emotions, maybe long suppressed, may be coming to the surface now. Or, you might find that you can no longer avoid doing that thing you are passionate about, but have been so afraid to do. If you don’t know what that is yet, don’t worry. Another year and a half of North Node in Scorpio will likely reveal it to you. But you must be willing to look beneath the surface of things, to confront fears, and to ride the wave rather of change rather than fighting it. ~ So these themes and lessons are brought to the surface each time the eclipses occur in the Taurus/Scorpio polarity, particularly heightened in the two weeks leading up to and away from the eclipses. We are in such a time frame currently, which began in early April and goes through the early part of June. In my life, it has been a challenging time, full of Scorpionic themes. I touched on some of these in my previous newsletter. As I look at the lives of those closest to me, and events in the world around me, I see many of us being pushed out of the inertia state of shadow-Taurus toward confronting uncomfortable, even frightening, realities. Through being awakened to the things we usually don’t like to consider, however, we are provided the opportunity to gain wisdom and the ability to find the true sources of our own power.”—end quote, Dena DeCastro
I hope this post helps someone out there to hang on with chin up! As mom used to say, “This too shall pass” and as I say, “I can go through anything if I know why and how long it’s likely to last!”
Maybe by next month, if we don’t get it right now, we will be able to look back on this time period of 3 eclipses April 25 thru May 25th and figure it all out! Here’s to eclipses (raising my coffee cup to the air and not spilling a drop) and may the force be with you.
I hope that we all receive some positive changes through this intense time period and I hope for you that your experiences are the intensely happy kind. May the odds be ever in your favor!
It’s SATURN-day (Saturday) and while I give the Sun time to warm the balcony so I can enjoy today’s rays (tomorrow it’s going to be cloudy they say)… thought I’d blog some current thoughts. I’ve drifted back to doing a bit of guru yoga again—devotional stuff really does align the mind, heart and soul. Besides, it makes you really feel good and happy! Two nice words together there, don’t you think? Feeling GOOD and feeling HAPPY. Yeah, you can say it’s a choice and all that but I think there’s a bit more to it. Not to bring us down, but let’s be practical—life is full of ups and downs and potentials for times when the mood of good and happy is easier to achieve than other times. (Not that potentially it isn’t always possible I suppose.) Some days we’re more predisposed to react in happier ways than others—I think we can thank our lucky stars for that. Enter: Astrology. Yeah, I can see the correlations to those pre-dispositions to certain moods and difficulties via astrology. Astrologically we can consider Sagittarius energy or a good position of our Sun sign for a sunnier disposition—just to name a few influences; yeah, Venus is another.
Not wanting to get off the track and now seeing some rays hitting the balcony now, let me get to the bottom line. Guru Yoga is simply merging with the teacher, the master, the deity—what’s your preference? Need examples? Okay, Buddha, The Christ energy, St. Theresa, Mother Mary – surely you remember the song “Let It Be”, right? The result of guru yoga whether The Beatles knew it or not:
“When I find myself in times of trouble, Mother Mary comes to me / Speaking words of wisdom, let it be / And in my hour of darkness she is standing right in front of me / Speaking words of wisdom, let it be … “
Once you have your deity in mind (your guru—the master teacher) and for me sometimes that is Mother Mary too or other times Buddha himself or Padmasambhava (who established Buddhism in Tibet in direct line with the Buddha).
The idea is to relax in meditation and fill your heart with the presence of the deity you have in mind, you see? And that would be literal—visualize the deity; see the energy before you… “and in my hour of darkness, she’s standing right in front of me…” as the Beatles sing.
So invoke the energy and allow your mind to merge with this energy very strongly with total heart and total mind—very purely, very innocently with great trust like the trust of a small child to the mother or father.
Then you can say, “Oh help me now and fill my mind with the content of yours and my heart with your heart and fill me with your wisdom, your compassion, your love. Bless me with your kindness and help my understanding.
I love hearing Lama Surya Das sing the mantra for this: Om Ah Hung Benza Guru Pema Siddhi Hung.
Sometimes it helps to visualize many little beings of your deity—many little Buddhas or Mother Marys or whomever your call; perhaps many little Angels if it is an Angel in particular you call to merge with in your Guru Yoga Devotion….
I like to see many little beings in the form of sound as I do a chant are circulating inside of me, in every cell, atom and molecule of my body, heart and mind on all levels, transforming me.
And now while the Sun is in full force on my balcony, I must go and be in that Sun—I will use that Sun the catalyst for a Guru Yoga Meditation, feeling the warmth as the compassionate and wisdom energy of the Buddha within me awakening in every part of my being!
Two blogs in one day? I don’t’ know what in the world’s gotten into me! haven’t blogged in ages before today. Could it have anything to do with Mercury stationing and ready to go retrograde any second now? To me that looks like Earth and Mercury hanging in the heavens neck-to-neck. Is that literally true? you’d have to Google an astronomer and ask him or her. As for me, I’ll go with my intuition, Mercury seems close. And that could account for two blog posts in one day and my recent anxiety about getting going on my astrology class. Something’s come over me and I don’t think it’s the election.
Here’s a excerpt from a recent email on Sabian Symbols for this time of Sun at 15 Scorpio. BLain Bovee wrote about the energy right now as follows, “Mercury stands still. The messenger god is about to return to some matters that have perhaps been dropped along the way. Check your messages, examine all documents. There is more going on than just the lips flapping election results. Trust valid instincts that bring you to a change in mind, heart and action. Even where there appears to be nothing, a foothold can and will make itself manifest like a world emerging around mounds of sand upon which children play.”
Mercury rules Gemini. Gemini and Sagittarius are on opposites sides of the zodiac — polar opposites. Yet Mercury is in the sign Sag right now–that’s go to open up some things for us as far as mind (Mercury) and inspiration/beliefs (Sag) are concerned. Maybe people will suddenly realize what they thought was true…. well, how could I have been so wrong and not considered that before? That would be a typical Mercury in Sagittarius retrograde inner dialogue! You may be asking yourself that question as the little mind suddenly opens to see a wider picture.
Or on a very lowly mundane level it could out-picture as going out and buying a big screen TV with a vibrate-the-plaster-on-the-walls-loose-sound-system. Who knows? Sounds like what my downstairs neighbor did. Yeah, the good news is that at least nobody walks on my cathedral ceilings except the birds or an angel or two!
Speaking of birds, I have to be up long before the birds even dream of chirping! I’m sure I’ll mumble and stumble my way to the coffee pot finding it as usual in my sleep, speaking of which I don’t know what it is with people and old age–what is that? but then the plan was have your kids when you’re young and getting up in the middle of the night to start your day isn’t a problem. I must have bad karma or something–I’m having to do it when I’m old too! If I don’t complain (forgive me, I was) maybe the karma will be balance and in my next life this won’t be necessary.
On a positive note, when I am working–actually doing readings, I get to get out of all this. The great escape–better than any drug you could name. My work keeps me going and if any of you reading this are clients of mine–thank you! and Bless You!
Alright; Mercury and his winged sandals have had their due! Hope this Mercury retrograde is a good one for you! goodnight

As soon as I saw the image [to the left], I thought of Sagittarius – that gypsy and travel part of Sag. The other thing that came to mind was that famous phrase, “When in Rome, do as the Romans do.”
Today I learned about someone I know who has lost her job–again! It’s not any one who turns to me (my services) for advice or guidance; in fact its someone who is rather convinced that my psychic work is associated with the devil. Sigh! And its someone who believes (factually in her own words) that trials and tribulations come from the christian jesus and is asking jesus to stop the pattern of giving her life these repeating problems. Yeah, right? I know! I’m saying wow and shaking my head too.
Ever meet someone who you so much wish to help while knowing you must be asked, you cannot take over their free will? Someone who believes that god is punishing and victimizing them? It’s so frustrating. What can we do? We can only envision them healed, whole and happy and try to energize that picture for them I suppose. (And like I do often here, take my frustrating moments and use them as teaching moments.)
And then ask what is the lesson in this for me personally? Why did this come before me and frustrate me? And so, until I figure it all out, I use these things as teaching moments especially when they align so perfectly with the I-CHING Kua draw of the day as so happens today.
I came across a quote recently by David Hawkins that sort of sums up religious distortion. He wrote the following about the fundamentalist sects of any religion about the jealous, vengeful and angry god:
The god of righteous negativity represents a glorification of the negative, and provides for his followers a disavowal of responsibility through justification of human cruelty and mayhem. — Power vs. Force, The Hidden Determinants of Human Behavior by David Hawkins
New in town? New on the job? It can be destabilizing and trigger all of our insecurities—change really does trigger self-doubt or anxiety. Sometimes, in error, we can overcompensate when we feel out of place—we really want to keep it all together but go about it the wrong way; therefore, we can sometimes try too hard and come off appearing like a misfit instead. This comes from our own inner insecurity malfunction.
There is wisdom in the advice of the I-CHING Kua 56 called “The Wanderer” or “The Traveler” or as I’d like to call it the gypsy part of Sagittarius. And that advice is to do as the Romans do and for goodness sake when you’re new to town or to a job, don’t ‘put down’ the unfamiliar in order to compensate for your own insecurity by trying to feel superior.
Whether it is being a newcomer to a town or a job or a family (whatever it may be), it is always wise to create a respectful and friendly atmosphere by being sincere in unpretentious—just be yourself in sincerity and hang back to learn the new environment while being respectful to yourself and to others. Give yourself and other people the gift of grace and time.
Many of the readers of this blog already know this (preaching to the choir I’m sure) but I am thinking about a particular person/ situation as I write this. Besides, there might be someone else who can relate to this in a helpful way—so I will continue in that spirit, if I may.
Sometimes, when we are new to town or to the apartment building or to the job, we will be a curiosity to others and maybe even one or two humans could pick on us a little bit to see what we’re made of—that’s human nature. Avoid challenging established order, but of course if your boundary is transgressed speak up while respecting others.
We are all wanderers in one way or another on the journey of life. Seasoned travelers know how to adapt and keep to themselves in the right timing and how to blend with others in the right way. They also have learned the value of a sense of humor and about the avoidance of arrogance at all costs. A very valuable took that I read in my teenage years was, “How to Win Friends and Influence Enemies“. I’d bet there are still copies around. I can’t remember the context of the material in that book after all these years; however, I do remember it helping me out a great deal regarding human interactions. I think I was in high school when I read it or maybe age 17 or 18 years old.
Personally, I think that a good way to move through life is to do so in such a way that when you have moved through the town, the relationship, the job or even this lifetime, others will speak well and kindly of you (about you) when you’re gone.
Also, I think that to meet others more than half way (giving more than half) when possible is a good idea. People can feel where your heart is even if you’re words are not spoken aloud. Of course, I shouldn’t even have needed to type that last sentence— apologies to the reader for the redundancy and overstating the obvious. Some people, however, don’t know about any of these simple common sense concepts and they are having difficulty on their travels.
Some of us may be meant to wanderers as part of our karma or choice —some of us go from one job (or relationship or town) to the next continually–who are we to speculate as to why this might be? Perhaps there is a divine plan of which we are unaware. Maybe you have chosen an accelerated path and part of that is to have many changing experiences. HOWEVER, if you are continually being asked to leave jobs and as a result you are not able to function or meet your survival needs, and if this happens over and over again, ask yourself if you are repeating patterns. And when you are escorted out the door of employment (being fired from your job for the umpteenth time) while you blame jezuz or god (or whomever) for being tough on you (“blessing you with trials and tribulations”) and if you are not taking any responsibility, playing the victim… can you not see there is a pattern there for which your own behavior or decisions (free will) could be playing a part? I’m just sayen’. Is it really fair to always blame god? What about self-responsibility?
Not all people who move frequently or change jobs often have done something wrong. Perhaps you are someone who enjoys such change, seeing it as an adventure and an opportunity for another new experience, then so it is. I guess it’s all in the attitude.
However, if you feel victimized, consider your role in the plot. The bottom line is that when any of us finds ourselves in changing conditions (no matter how they came about), it is best to do as the Romans do (at least at first) when in Rome. When first in Rome, release arrogance, be honorable, respectful and modest and if you want to be a permanent resident, smile and don’t put on any airs. Journey with your eyes open and take responsibility and make corrections rather than blame the gods.
PS– and should the reader assume that I claim to be in any state of enlightenment … (not hardly). Someone asked the Dalai Lama that question once (if he is enlightened) and he at first laughed and then said if that was true he wouldn’t be here. (I’m just repeating what he said.) Anyway, the point is that I’ve made my fair share of mistakes and have (hopefully) learned from (some of) them. I’ve seemed to attained my best learning the hard way many times. And like you, am a work in progress.
But… you want to hear something strange on that topic? It’s not me who is doing any of it really, I’m just watching while agreeing to participate and finding the humor and the irony and the anguish sometimes to–but none of it is really me. That is, unless I make it too real; do you know what I mean? How real do you make your life? And how well do you hold it lightly in balance? This paragraph is about a few random thoughts that may have nothing to do with Kua 56, The Wanderer–or maybe they do? After all, I just wandered!
Kua 56 of the I-CHING, The Wanderer, brings a message about how to travel and that is with grace and with humor. When you are a stranger in a strange land, it is you who must take some responsibility for your behavioral actions; don’t be blaming it all on a punishing god somewhere outside of YOU. I’m just sayen’.
See you next time…
Hope your weather is good; here the mountains are starting to have deeper color (leaves changing) and it is quite beautiful.
