The Grand Cross April 2014 It’s a Season of Astrological Weather and Everyone’s Affected

astrological weatherPeople with natal (birth) planets in CARDINAL SIGNS (Aries/Libra, Cancer/Cap) that are close to 15° in their birth chart are going to be most affected personally by this months intensification of the Cardinal Cross.

I’m one of those lucky folks (rocking my 2nd house); it is the same with my oldest daughter.  In another daughter’s chart, it’s hitting her natal Pluto and NN combo and yet another daughter has the grand cross really affecting the area of her Ascendant; so all of  my daughters are being affected by this grand cross because their natal houses have planets in those signs at those approximate degrees, just like mine.

I have to cringe a bit when other people shrug, smile and say something like, “I don’t think astrology works for me–because in my life things are rolling along just fine and actually better than ever, thank you”.    They probably don’t have natal planets in in those degrees in those signs, but everyone is going to be affected in some way, if not so personally, on a community, city, state, national or global level.

And if your personal life is not deeply affected, it may be affected by someone else’s life who “is” deeply affected personally by this grand cross energy–in which case, you are still impacted in some way. I’ve always admired the way astrologer Steve Forest drives the point home with words.  In his recent newsletter, he wrote:  “Push comes to shove. Breaking points are reached. Crisis reigns. Squares and oppositions are exactly like the sound your engine eventually makes when you’ve decided to ignore the little red oil light on your dashboard. And the reasons are exactly the same: at squares and oppositions, bad behavior catches up with us. The law of consequences reigns.”

I’m not sure its all ‘bad behavior’ like Steven says; but then, he’s more of a master of astrology and myself the apprentice.  I think karmic situations are triggered–certainly and cause us to “work on our stuff” because that crisis energy helps us to see ourselves more clearly.  The cardinal energy is pretty stubborn stuff in our psyches’ and sometimes a bit of a crisis helps to move things along where we may have held on or been resistant.  It can move things along in a very positive way.

Maybe it’s the optimist in me but I can see that’s exactly what is happening in my life–moving things along in a direction that I’d not have (without that crisis push) taken.  But the direction is positive–or that’s how it looks from this point in time anyway.

DESCRIBING THE FEEL OF THE ENERGY:  Cardinal energy goes outward and then withdraws taking two steps forward and one step back and I must say that’s how a lot of energy in my own life has felt–very cardinal!   The energy sort of reaches out for freedom and then steps back for security and containment. AND with cardinal energy there can be a lot of projecting onto others instead of being responsible for one’s own emotions.  Holding other people responsible for one’s own happiness is an example of projection.

Using Steven Forests’ example of the red oil light on the dashboard you ignore right before you “blow a rod” and destroy your engine…. let’s say that if you’re in bumper-to-bumper traffic and somebody else’s light comes on in their dashboard, their engine cuts out and doesn’t restart, you’re going to be affected anyway–maybe not directly, but indirectly.  AND, I might add, in a way that’s in divine order for you too!   The universe is magical that way–everybody gets what they need to evolve in one way or another.

Astrology can be vastly complicated or quite literal and simple.  There’s so much to be said about the dynamics of the Grand Cross and it has been — just Google the term.

I like the way Steve Forest puts it all.  Why re-invent the wheel (especially when I’m supposed to be packing right now–best get at it, chop! chop!)

Therefore, I refer you to Steve’s newsletter for more.

Oppositions, Full Moon and the School Play! March 2014

Guys and Dolls imageJust a few thoughts here while contemplating the energy of oppositions this morning with this month’s full Moon nearly upon us (Full Sunday March 16, 2014, approx 1 PM Eastern time).  We know that when the Moon is full it is opposing the Sun–the Suns light shining fully on the Moon.

In astrological terms, oppositions (planets opposing each other in the chart) can be challenging–or that is one view point.  Two forces fighting one another; however, one can energize the other like the energy of the Full Moon.

Did you ever have a conflict with some energy or oppose it (person, place or thing) only later on to find yourself empowered by it?  Oppositions can be like that–at first challenging and then empowering.   Or at least the empowering potential is there.  Life is like that.

I also think of the middle path when considering oppositions, meeting half way and blending.

I took a look at my grandson’s chart this morning.  He is going to open the performance of Guys and Dolls in the school play singing the song, “Sit down you’re rocken’ the boat”.

His birth chart holds a South Node in the very public and “on stage” 10th house where the rather large performing Jupiter resides natally  as well along with Mars.  The growing Full Moon is moving over all that energy now through opposition, triggering his past (South Node) and the evolutionary intention for this lifetime (North Node).

His emotions (Moon) over these next few days while he’s on stage will be energized by the opposing Jupiter, Mars and South Node.  Said another way, his past life energy (South Node) and natal Mars and Jupiter will energize his Moon, his emotions.  That should help empower his performance in the school play.

When I picked him up from the play practice yesterday, he loaded his things into the trunk of the car while singing his song!  He seems energized and excited about the start of the play right upon him.  His natal planets opposing his transiting Moon now energize him and I’d venture to say that an intense time for him will be tomorrow night’s performance as the Moon in transit squares is birth Pluto in the mutable (flexible) signs of Virgo/Sag.    My guess is that he will rise to the challenge–his chart seems wired for it!  Let your those inner stars shine kiddo!

WORD.

Days when you just want to be left alone! Astrological Aspects to your Moon?

Moon Cycle ImageDays like yesterday (today too) are the reasons why I love astrology—well, at least one of the reasons.  Astrology helps us understand our own energy or internal responses to the heavenly alignments.  Is it true that we could look at something like tea leaves and get the same information?–maybe; possibly with a far reach; but not likely.  Of course many of the old-timey astrologers—the purely scientific type—would cringe at the thought of astrology being a divination system. Leaving that whole can of worms aside, this is just a simple post about yesterday.  It will be a quick one at that.

There are certain times when I want to be alone and withdraw and that’s true for everyone I’d imagine.  You know, days in which we don’t want to answer the phone or talk to the random man on the street—and if life forces us to the exchange is not always the most…. Well, let’s leave it at that.  Some days we just want to withdraw and be alone.

Those of us who are tuned into our own energy to a high degree and who desire to remain aware of awareness could, if we didn’t know better, experience confusion on top of those sudden feelings of wanting to be left alone IF we did not see it in the horoscope and know it was cyclical (a better word may be phase-related) and therefore temporary.

One of my favorite phrases is this one:  “This, too, shall pass” and we can see how, why and when looking at an astrology chart!  Suddenly there is no further confusion.  We can see our response to life on a particular day is related to a lunar transit that happens each month and some months it becomes even more intense if the progressed Moon is involved or if planets are also aspecting (making an astrological aspect to)  the natal Moon.

There’s nothing wrong with feeling like you want to withdraw from the world for a day or two.  The slight impatience that one feels in contact with other humans is a nudge to create space to be alone and to turn more deeply inward at that time.  Perhaps an afternoon of meditation or a solitary walk in nature is what the astrological doctor is ordering.

We can give ourselves full permission to ‘go with it’ knowing full well that in a day or so the feelings of withdrawing from life a bit will pass.  Oh, it’s a joyful thing really!!

We don’t have to beat ourselves up and waste time wondering things like, “What the heck is wrong with me today?”

Of course it was that question that turned me toward the direction of my horoscope each month in the first place.  Through observation and correlation, I noticed this pattern—when the Moon transits through Cancer and then within hours through my 12th House Stellium (3 planets in the 12th), it triggers that withdrawal response to humans in such a way that that the energy in my psyche…

…well, it is as if my soul is calling me to a private monthly meeting (no other human allowed) where each planet reports in and the minutes of the last meeting are read.

Currently, I’m also generally experiencing a Progressed Moon opposition to my Natal Pluto—go figure!  And at the same time that my soul is calling me to go inward, the needs of my family members are tugging me outward and I’ve just described the opposition aspect there.

Well, this is only one of the many reasons why I love astrology—at least one of the reasons why.   It helps with self-understanding—

and it’s as if the Divine Intelligence has given us all our very own inner-shrink!

By the way, also at this same time the Moon Phase is waning cresent phase, 4% lit… near the “dark of the Moon”–another indication of withdrawal.

Anyway, I could go on and on but it’s all I have time for today….   may all of your Moon’s be happy ones!
