Meditation Considerations for Receiving Insight and Developing Calmness

I’m writing this after returning from the gym and thus recovering from a high-intensity athletic training class.  The body was content to settle into meditation and then to write this.  I’ve learned that no one starts out as a perfect meditator and that each session is different.  Sometimes it is peaceful; other times frustrating because the mind wants to wander; yet, either way, there’s still so much to learn about my own nature.

When insights into problems that affect my happiness enter during a session, the effort seems well worth it. .  Sometimes, there is only calmness and that’s alright too—having expectations becomes a hindrance to the process.  Silent present-moment awareness that is highly acute and wherein thought is abandoned opens the door to the cosmos on such a level that the body awareness dissolves and thus the self merges with the beauty of silence.   A bit of an awkward sentence as my words can sometimes be when writing about my meditation experiences.  Yet, at times during meditation, I feel restless.  >>Read More

Channeling Insight in Meditation

Have you ever felt like you were stripped of control yet at the same time fully awake?  This describes a deep state of meditation. It also describes a mind level in which channeling insight can occur.  There is no “doer” in this state—the self has, for the most part—dissolved.   Only the “knower” is fully functioning and there is no volitional thought.  It can feel much like being frozen and one’s identity is no longer part of the consciousness scenario.  There is a calmness in which insight arrives in this state.

Meditation, for me, is different each time.  I do not expect to reach such a deep state each and every time I sit for meditation practice.  I’ve learned to work with the right meditation and the right time and to let go of expectations of some type of progress or achievement.

Psychic in Social Situations

Weight Lifting Class

This post is about a quick flash of a psychic insight that occurred in the midst of a social situation just yesterday at the gym.  It’s been a while since I’ve blogged obviously. Keep berating myself –must be more consistent with blogging.  Feeling like there’s nothing to say and ducking back into my hermit cave is no excuse.  So here’s something.

Hmmmm.  Where to begin?  Well, you know how some people seem to put on airs, right?   That phrase is used when people act as if they are from a higher class in society.  There is a lady that fits this description at the gym.  She’s a swimmer and when I, too, was swimming laps we met in the swim lanes and the locker room.

I stopped swimming due to the air quality of the indoor pool and our paths had not crossed for over a year but there she was yesterday waiting for a weightlifting class that I, too, planned to attend.  She was discoursing quite authoritatively on the negative aspects of the class–this class that I love!   How could she speak with such a demeanor when she’d not frequented any of the classes?

She began to gather listeners and explain how these new classes were of a lesser quality than the ‘old’ classes, asserting some kind of seniority as the expert witness.

Most of the others, including myself, began to scoff since the new strength training/weight lifting class is highly popular.  Every class is nearly full!  This woman was beginning to make a fool of herself.

Why? Why was she putting on those airs with a ‘sour-grapes’ kind of attitude’?

I could see it clearly the moment my irritation released and compassion substituted.  She was nervous about taking the class for the first time and this was her way of making herself feel comfortable enough to be there.

I glanced in her direction several times during the hour-long session.  She positioned herself in the back of the room but through the mirrors, it was obvious that she was struggling and not keeping up very well.

Compassion is a good platform for psychic insight.

Betrayals of Trust and Emotional Devastation — How to deal with that

nature devasTAROT INSIGHT:  sometimes we feel that people we love betray us or turn against us and it can feel crushing.  From a Buddhist perspective this can be a problem of self-cherishing and also attachment to particular expectations of people.  In both cases, life gives us what we need to course correct–painful and disappointing as it may be.  I thought to ask the Tarot to give some guidance or insight about these types of emotional gottcha’s.

First though whether people have actually betrayed us or not (sometimes they do unknowingly or sometimes, yeah, it’s intentional) but either way we still have our own emotional feeling to deal with as the residual.  I’m asking for guidance or insight from the tarot about how to deal with the emotion.  Ha!  sometimes I have to laugh at the divination process and how literal it can be!

What card did I draw to pull insight from?  PAN or in some decks the card of  THE DEVIL.  Instantly one thinks of being caught in the hell realms, chained to a person or an idea.  In any case, the card is an indication of being out of harmony with natural law and relates to the need to break old patterns.

Past lives comes right along with the word patterns in my way of seeing things.

They did it in the past–the betrayal.  Maybe not that person or that group of persons but it’s some old wound we’re still carrying around more than likely.   Pan is thought to be the nature god and the world “panic” comes from this source word “pan”.

Pan suggests we laugh at our selves and our life-predicaments instead of falling back into addictive behaviors, unconscious attachments and self-imposed limitations.  Pan says to laugh and be joyful about our lives.

What type of insight does this card offer?  To lighten up, not take one’s self  so seriously, let goes of cares and worries and play more.  Divination rocks!  Especially if you can follow the advice.

Go out and play in nature and try to lighten up–it’s hard (I know) but try to find some humor.  And if all else fails:  Valerian!

What Kind of Psychic Are You?

Do Psychics Give the Kind of Readings that They’d Want to Receive Themselves?

there are typesWhat kind of psychic are you?  Someone asked me recently what kind of psychic I was—and I was taken back a moment by the question because I hadn’t given much thought to “types” of psychics before.  On my way to pick up a Chinese dinner take-out order this evening I thought of that question again, thinking that we must bring our own personality to the process in some way.

I don’t know much about other psychics really and so psychic “types” never occurred to me; which is funny if you think about it really.  I give readings and teach what I’ve learned through the process of taking classes and communicating with my own “guides” and that keeps me so on-my-toes that I never go to a psychic for a reading myself.

But if I did, I’d want to have a reading like the kind of reading that I give.  And I know that sounds highly egotistical and I’ve just risked you thinking so from typing that sentence just now.  But maybe every psychic would say the same thing because don’t we all sort of give to others what we ourselves would want to receive? Anyway, I was asked if I was a “counseling psychic” and maybe its a silly question but, “Isn’t that the only kind?”  But again maybe that’s just me–my own viewpoint.

I like bottom lines and if I went to a psychic myself, that’s what I’d be looking for.  I like to know what are the causes of feelings and experience.  and I want to know why, why, why and how to handle whatever may be troubling me at any given time.  I go to my inner guide for help problem-solving and for ‘splainen—pardon the slang.  I want to know if I need to change something or if I’m on course  [on the right track]. I want additional insights and inspirations to my concerns.  That’s why I turn inward for a “reading” in the first place–its what motivates me seek communication with higher mind.

Also, I may turn inward because of a desire to tune into the energy of another human and see if I can understand them; or I want to connect with a loved one on the other side; or I want to insight on a pending decision.  At different times I tune inward for different reasons–those are a few.   And I suppose that influences the type of readings that I give  to others–that’s the kind of psychic that I am.  Predictions?  Yeah, those come but mostly as part of the explanation to the problem or issue at hand.   I don’t look for fortune telling per se’ when I turn inward for a reading; mostly I need help–not a prediction.

I think maybe some folks like predictions because then they can kick-back and wait for it to happen; but of course it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that it doesn’t work that way.  Anyway, maybe there’s a list somewhere out there in big ocean of cyper-space of the various “types” of psychics.  I’ve never really thought about it.

That’s  the trouble with thinking of course; lots of times it results in a blog post like this one! Oh and my Chinese dinner was great by the way— I do love shrimp sauce and ginger dressing on my salad.  Yum!   I’m that kind of psychic too! 🙂

SIX OF WANDS and INITIATION – When we are tested, fall short or feel bad about ourselves

6 of Wands
6 of Wands
Surviving Initiation

SIX OF WANDS WISDOM FOR WHEN WE ARE HARD ON OURSELVES

We all have things in life that we wish we could improve upon or wish we could do better.  We may look back at a recent experience and feel bad about ourselves when we see how we wish we could be versus how we are!

We all know what perfection should look like and then we compare ourselves and see how we have fallen short.  How do we handle that?  That’s was my thought as I drew a Tarot Card for guidance.

I don’t know why but I always think of the word INITIATION when I see this card.  And that makes me think of the book with that title about the Initiations in Egypt–probably soul memories triggered.

[The book:  INITIATION by Elizabeth Haich].

We all know that initiations are difficult and sometimes impossible to perfect… its a right of passage… like walking on hot coals or a bed of nails… we’re just supposed to make it through alive and intact, not perfect the state so that we remain in that hot coal or bed of nails state.  The focus is on indoctrination and instruction into a state of mind–an awareness creator so-to-speak.

Anyway, sometimes enduring an initiation is in itself the success!  Perhaps we aren’t meant to conquer the fire fires but to just get through them without being burned too badly!  Maye it’s not so much about controlling the raging river but rather staying on top of it.  Maybe it’s not as much about controlling the pool full of crocodiles but just getting through the crock pond alive to reach the other side!  Initiations are like that.

Should we feel back about the anxiety and panic that we may feel about being tossed in a crocodile pond?

I think we should feel great about getting ourselves through it any way we can!

The heck with trying to master the crocs–that’s not what it’s about.

Its about keeping one’s head together well enough to survive–that’s the way initiation goes!

The 6 of Wands always brings the message that after the initiation self-confidence will return and other problems or anxieties will be easier than those major initiations, once passed!   One feels vindicated but has to give credit to help received along the way–the Divine Assistance.

The wisdom of the 6 of Wands reminds us that life’s initiations are difficult and that we shouldn’t be hard on ourselves— we just need to get ourselves out of the pool of crocodiles and to the other side any way we can–whatever works.

Success is simply getting through the initiation–passing the test, enduring he difficulty and living to tell about it!

The benefits come later.

I don’t know about you but drawing this card and applying it to the “pond full of crocs” type of situation in my life helps me to feel better about it!

Thank you to for Divine Assistance and to the Angels of Tarot for giving me much needed insight and I hope something here is helpful for you too!
