Meaning of the New Moon in Aquarius January 20, 2015 and the Aquarian in Your Life and The Chariot with Queen of Cups

New Moon times.  Could these be times in which the door to the psyche is open for us to enter and redirect our play just a little bit–at least emotionally?  And is it a time for us to create and debate and elevate as well as fixate about our emotional nature?  New Moon times could be  the most important part of our creative nature since it sets the tone for how we interpret the world.  Each month the dye is cast so-to-speak by our response to life at the New Moon time.  If we could mark the time and be aware of it, we could control the nature of the dye we cast for the upcoming 28’ish to 30-day lunar cycle.

If you happen to know  the house that the New Moon is in (for you), you can derive more insight from the vibes but even if you don’t know that information, it’s still beneficial to open to setting a new tone for your emotional responses to life.    (If you should happen to know what house 0° Aquarius falls in your natal chart, this will give you an idea for the areas of your life that will be activated and in what life categories the potential for renewal will be natural and beneficial to cast your emotional die for the next 30-day cycle.   But even if you do not know which house your 0° Aquarius is located, you can still benefit from simply knowing the sign itself.

So we have a New Moon in Aquarius!  This sign rules the 11th house of hopes, dreams and also carries a humanitarian and “friends” as general meaning archetypes.  Innovative thinking is part of the Aquarius vibe as well as freedom seeking qualities being a part of this energy.  In evolutionary soul astrology, it also links with “the wound” of the past lives.

So in any of those ways we can cast the dye for this next month–changing our emotional responses to life in those areas.

(Again, if you know the house of your natal chart that holds 0° Aquarius, you can factor in that information as well.)

I just had a brilliant idea!  (Now that’s the stuff that Aquarius is made of actually–brilliant ideas.)  Anyway, why not draw a few tarot cards to add insight to the Aquarius New Moon meaning here?  Why not?  It’s my blog and I can do what I want!–that last sentence (too) is very ‘Aquarian’ in nature.  🙂

Let me first reiterate that a New Moon relates to heightened sensitivity to a particular energy for the purpose of casting new dye for the purpose of renewing the potential of that part of your psyche.  Using emotion to rededicate yourself in some way–that’s another way to say it.  We can toss in “desire nature” as well here in that what we desire usually has a rather significant emotional derivative so using that energy to create something new in our lives.

Let me draw two cards now to help us to know more about this month’s New Moon in Aquarius, asking how we can best use this time for our highest benefit and therefore highest benefit of all.  I’m going to use the Hanson-Roberts tarot deck for this one; here we go.  (By the way, I love the images on this deck and the cards are small and fit nicely in my hands during the shuffle.  This is a deck that I used to program meanings from the divinitory method using my own memories.)

I drew THE CHARIOT and QUEEN OF CUPS.

Chariot with Queen of Cups

Well, first impression:  male image/female image so a hint at balance confirmed by the yin and yang on the Chariot.  All those stars on the Chariot card really do remind me of the sign of Aquarius and now the Cup the Queen holds, definitely relates to emotions (cups equal emotion in the tarot system).

The Chariot also speaks of using one’s will, directing one’s energy and being determined; it is also about practice and practice making perfect.  Practicing what?  The Queen holds that answer–understanding your emotional reactions.  Satisfaction comes from practicing using one’s will to understand emotional responses and to keep on that path and exerting control in some way to achieve a goal.

Sometimes we let our emotions spin out of control.  Yet, these cards speak of the suggestion that this New Moon cycle the directive is about making it a goal to control emotions so that they do not spin out, causing us to break down, go off our intended path and by failing to maintain our balance and by neglecting to keep the positive/negative pull of our nature (yin/yang) under control.

I think of the Queen of Cups always as it relates to intuition and also empathy/compassion — those energies, too, need to be balanced so that emotions don’t spin out.

The Queen sits by an ocean and this hints, to me, that water can help in our endeavors this month and if there is a goal that you believe you’d like to reach regarding water in any way, this New Moon in Aquarius would support that.   Many people feel very “at peace” near water or even in water.  Aquarius, after all, is the “water bearer” (despite it being an ‘air’ sign.  The Chariot does relate to the Sign of Cancer and Cancer is ruled by the Moon and Moon energy always relates to water.

The New Moon
The Sun and Moon are joined together to create something new during the New Moon time

So on all levels I do get that a message for this New Moon time relates to emotion and the goal of harnessing those in some way that relates to Aquarius energy — friends, hopes, dreams, humanitarian causes, group energy or perhaps it relates to a person with the Sun sign Aquarius with the understanding that the Sun and Moon are neck-in-neck right along side one another at the same degree when there’s a New Moon.

Give it another go here–what I mean is to consider reading this post over again with what your intuition tells you Aquarius means to you!  Cast the dye consciously.

Final thought:  is there a way that you can balance emotions for a new cause, a new reason in this new lunar phase?

When the Moon Transits the 11th House

Moon in the 11th House

The 11th.  I was dreading this moment because I just don’t “get” the 11th.  I have Uranus there in my personal birth chart, so I should get it and that’s what’s so frustrating.  Uranus rules that house!  We’re told this house [meaning this common area of our lives] has to do with community and also with hopes and fears and friends.  Really? all that?  Some of those archetypes come from Horary astrology and some from the opposite of it’s polarity.  Makes sense, doesn’t it that if Leo/5th is about “me” then the opposite polarity is about others, the collective–therefore, groups or humanity.  Could we think of the 5/11 axis in relation to me and them? And could them be friend or those of like mind?  Or those in the community that are a selective group, a singular type identity?   Maybe?  I’m still trying to understand the “hopes and fears” part of the 11th’s archetype but let’s go with what we’ve got.  The group thing.  I have a great example of this.  The Moon just left my 11th house and something happened in my life that relates to this archetype in a pretty significant way.

Without giving unnecessary details let me summarize by saying that as the Moon was passing through my 11th house of community and selective groups of like nature or like mind, I found myself discussing how I may be of service to a selective group of people in the community.  I do have Cancer in the 11th by birth and the Moon there was strongly related to doing a type of nurturing in the community–the Moon/Cancer relates to nurturing, care giving.  And in this case, care giving to a particular group of individuals but on a one-to-one basis which relates to the Uranus/Aquarius archetype of individuation or singularity.  Remember, Uranus rules this part of our life… group but alone in a group would be a way of saying it or a small or selective group.

Generally speaking, when the Moon moves through your 11th house it is a good time to connect with friends or groups.  Giving or receiving “emotional” support–the Moon relates to emotion.  Organizations (group energy) may provide helpful perspective on current conditions at this time.  Or vice versa, you may provide a helpful perspective to a group or organization at this time as well.  That could be a 2-way street, so-to-speak.

An alliance is what the Moon [your emotional nature]  is looking for to find it’s comfort, security and happiness at this time.  Queen Luna is looking for her tribe and wants to feel some sort of meaningful membership somewhere or somehow i.e. this is who i am and this is my group.

One’s heart can identify with the community at this time to a great extent and the tribe (in whatever way the emotional nature identifies tribe) will be prominent when seeking happiness, security and emotional nurturing.  The only red flag with this one would want to be careful not to be overly influenced by group energy–we’re talking about a Uranian house after all and Uranus/Aquarius is pretty much alone in a group.

Just a bit of trivia:  Aquarius is thought to have a connection to circulation, the blood circulation in the body.  In Horary astrology it is thought to represent the partners ability to have children since it is 5 houses away from the 5th of the other partner.  But, that again is trivia.

The hopes and fears archetype originates from the connection with Jupiter (Horary astrology).  It is said that Jupiter has it’s joy in the 11th  and thus, the house of hopes/fears/wishes comes from this source.

The 11th House is also thought to be the house of the spiritual world servers or servers of humanity–servers of the human race.  And therefore the archetype of group consciousness relates to this house as well as “brotherhood”.  The Moon here finds strangers to bond with who have shared goals and can make friends who seem more like family than biological family.  The 11th house is known to be the house of the ‘soul family’ and finding a niche in relating with humanity or group energy.

I know of some astrologers who start interpreting a chart with the 11th house instead of the 1st house, making the 11th the ascendant. This is because they think of the 11th as the house of the visionary–some people get psychic readings when the Moon is in the 11th because it is though that this house relates to the soul’s vision for the life and the Moon can help them feel the vision as described by the psychic.

Dreams and visions of future can be prominent when the Luna moves through house 11 as well so it is good to pay attention to those on the few days a month that your Moon moves through this house.

The Moon is now in my 12th house and so I will be back to document this last lunar transit through my own houses as a way to help others understand astrology.

When the Moon transits the 6th House

Moon in the 6th house

Back at it!  Blogging the transiting Moon through the 12 houses.  Using my own lunar transit as example but describing the typical energy/ emotional needs and moods common to lunar movement through that house.  Houses, as I’ve been blogging, relate to a particular area of life and the Moon energy relates to yeah, exactly that:  emotional needs, moods and security issues.  So essentially, I’m describing the area of the life that will be stimulated by Moon energy as the Moon moves through that house of the zodiac.

We’re now at house 6 with the Moon-House blog posts and if you’ve been following, every few days the Moon stimulates a different area of life… an area that is common to humanity; a shared reality.  Astrologer Steven Forrest says that we ARE our signs and we DO our houses.  Houses are something we all ‘do’.  For example, we all have a physical self (1st House), we all deal with values and resources (2nd house), we all want to communicate, be heard and satisfy our curiosity (3rd house) and so forth.

Common life themes–that describes the houses.

So now we are House 6 for the purposes of this blog.  And my own Moon is transiting through this house which is ruled by Virgo and Virgo relates to details and thoroughness; thus, the recap above.  My Moon made me do it!  It felt emotionally satisfying (Moon) to give that recap–it made my moody Moon happy.  We say the Moon is moody because it changes it’s location so quickly–I mean just a few days in each sign, in each house; it’s pretty fluctuating.  This should give you insight into anyone you know who has a Cancer (ruled by Moon) Sun Sign or a Cancer Moon sign.  But let’s stick to our topic here–the 6th house Lunar transit and let’s talk about the 6th house some more.

The 6th house area of life (common to all of us) relates to service and finding one’s natural skill.  Mentors is another area that relates to 6th house–you know, those people who will take you under their wings and then eventually you take others under yours.

So in this regard we could naturally see how it would be typical to be sensitive (Moon) to respect at this time (as the 6th house relates to mentor/teacher).

The emotional needs when the Moon transits the 6th is to feel competent and useful (sort of what I’m trying to do here now in writing this blog post).  So the psyche at this time would be sensitive to those issues of usefulness and competency.

Going back to the teacher and mentor part of the 6th house common experiences, it wouldn’t be unusual to experience a spontaneous emotional openness to teachers, role models and mentors during this time of the lunar cycle.  In fact, as I pointed out at the beginning of this blog, when you work with the Lunar transit energy in your own life, you can plan when may be a good time to take particular actions.  This transit would be a good time to connect with teachers and mentors, etc.  And then of course, if you knew when your own teacher was having a 6th house transit of the Moon, you may know when they would feel emotionally connected to their students.

Anyway, the 6th house lunar transit is a time when you want to feel useful and really don’t want to engage in meaningless duties–that could feel like enslavement.

Health and nutrition are also common experiences that are tagged and categorized within the 6th house common experiences of life.  The 6th house is known to be the house of the healer for this reason; so there may be an emotional need for reviewing herbs, medicines visiting the physician (if necessary) and this type of thing.  If you are the healer then you will feel even more like contributing to the health and well-being of others at this time.  This is especially true with small animals too, since the 6th house relates to the common human experience of connections with small animals, such as cats and dogs–pets.  You may find a special connection to your pet is typical at this time of the month.

There is a connection of the 6th house to ‘small community’–like neighbor with and S and the end.   The small neighborhood–doing something that the neighbors may appreciate.

One last thing–and I should have been adding this to every post thus far.  Lunar energy is very PSYCHIC energy and therefore one would tend to be very intuitive or psychic about the area of their life (the house) that the Moon transits.  So for example, more intuitive/psychic about the physical self as the Moon transits the 1st house and more intuitive/psychic about money, what is valued, resources during a 2nd house Lunar transit and so forth and so on.

small heartPS– once you learn the houses, planets and signs and the archetype associations, its easy to put them together to divine a chart interpretation.

I just love astrology!

Personal Note:  In my own life, as the Moon has been moving through my 6th house.  The Moon may be moving through a different house for you at this time,  and the way you find out is to create a transit chart at www.astro.com and see which of your houses Moon is currently in.  (See the bottom of the MOON THROUGH THE FIRST HOUSE post for  more info. on how to do that.)   More my personal association with my 6th house lunar transit:  I’ve been caring for 3 cats at one daughters home and another cat (and fish) at my other daughter’s apartment.  And doing healing work with one particular cat who has been ill and getting him to eat and drink.  This very much relates to the 6th house archetype of small pets and healing work of the 6th house. He ate very well yesterday and drank water too and my part in helping with that was very emotionally satisfying.  And also knowing that I am helping my daughters.  The feeling that I had went something like, ‘Even if other area of my life may be failing or even if nothing else comes together for me, this is one thing that I can do to be of service and I don’t care about anything else right now’.  I have also had a health concern of my own that has magnified since Luna entered my 6th; and while this is nothing serious, the emotions are tied to it right now.  Enough said.  Anyway, since the Moon entered my 6th, it has been acutely emotionally satisfying to feel how useful I have been to both of my daughters and also to my grandson who I’ve helped by getting him to his high school activities.  It isn’t hard to see the 6th house connection.

The Moon doesn’t move into my next house, the 7th until tomorrow afternoon.  If I can personally relate any more 6th house lunar transit examples, I will come back and post those below.  Otherwise, see you in the 7th house soon!
