When the Moon transits the 12th house

Moon in the 12th House

The Moon is transiting my 12th house right now as I finish up this blog series of Luna through the houses during her monthly jaunt through the zodiac.  Compassion, unconditional love, innocence, openness, the hermit, the mystic, the spiritual healer–we rarely hear those archetypes spoken of regarding the 12th.  Ominous–that’s instead what you hear about the 12th.  The house of Halloween, trick or treat and ‘things that go bump in the night’–the places in our life where things that are freaky, scary, sorrowful, sad, happen.  Where we are in isolation, on the edge of the abyss!  Confusion, distortion, escapism–those are a few more word associations for this part of life that is ruled by Neptune/Pisces.  Jails, prisons, institutions–that too comes through the astrological grapevine about the 12th. The motion of the energy of Neptune and Pisces is inward and on the highest level represents the totality of consciousness, universal mind and the collective unconscious.  People who are comfortable here are often though of as crazy and end up being institutionalized in some way, thus the connection with jails, prisons and institutions.  The feelings of being alone and cut off; some folks are actually comfortable in that state and relish it, thrive in it.  It’s the area of “mind”. Personally, I think we could look at the 12th house in someone’s birth chart and get a feel for what type of “mind” or inner-consciousness the person has—if there is such a thing as a “mind type”.   I say that in a very general way since of course there can be more than one sign in a house, intercepted signs, and planets with their aspects.  But right now we are talking about the Moon as she transits through the 12th, so better stick to that topic and not wander off as Luna in 12 tends to do. 🙂

Pisces/Neptune’s association with the Universal Mind can lend the 12th the flavor of faith an inspiration–perhaps god-consciousness if you will.  The archetype of Neptune/Pisces also correlates with the 3rd eye/pineal gland.  There’s hypersensitivity here as Luna moves through the 12th–and since that Neptune/Pisces has no boundaries (the archetype of totality), the Moon here could have a person feeling like a psychic-sponge.

If a person has a highly pronounced Neptune/Pisces signature in the chart or is born with a number of planets in the 12th house and does not understand the energy or perceive the self as a spiritual being then mental illness or psychic distortions can occur.

Pisces/Neptune and 12th house energy relates to addictions–using substances rather than spiritual means in an attempt to reach a transcendent and peaceful state.  Nervous breakdowns due to oversensitivity to everything expressing as feelings of being deeply lost, confused and disillusioned.  Yet, the sensitivities of the 12th house can engender deep compassion, love, openness, innocence and result in the mystic, the healer, the teacher.  One will find it necessary to be hermit like with the sensitivities carried when the 12th is stimulated.

I have 3 planets in my 12th house and currently Jupiter is transiting here along with the Moon.  Usually a Moon in the 12th increases all my senses but add Jupiter to the mix which further intensifies and expands everything within it’s reach… adding the sign of Cancer on this cusp and we have some strange tasting emotional tea!  Yet the ability to feel unconditional love for self and others is very acute right now.

As I type these words the Moon/Jupiter conjunction is sitting right on my natal Pluto/Saturn conjunction in my 12th house.  I do have the feeling of wanting to escape and moments of feeling borderline crazy surge between other moments of seeing how it all is here on Earth for all of us and tears form in my eyes and start to roll down my cheek.  The feeling of being a stranger in a strange land are usually part of my psyche but are more acute than usual, more pronounced.

When the Moon transits the 12th, the emotional desire is to recognize that spiritual growth is the main purpose of life and other factors that do not fit into or match that desire tend to fall by the wayside.

The Moon transiting the 12th house causes a person to feel strong psychic undercurrents and the energy of others.  Luna, the Queen of Mystery, here in the last house picks up on all subtle energy influences.

There will be a desire within the emotional body to find some way to commune with the deep psyche’, with God if-you-will, and to go deep into the soul.  There will be an inner call to withdraw, to escape in some way from the world of others and mundane existence.  It will be easy to become psychically overwhelmed.

When the Moon transits the 12th house it is a good time for a retreat, a rest, to be quiet and to figure out what is going on.  Examining motivations and emotions and trying to bring into conscious some of what has previously been unconscious.

The 12th house is the house of uncertainty and faith at the time of a lunar transit here faith is a priority because natural uncertainty takes a big emotional hit from the Moon; therefore there is a natural vulnerability to worries, fears, doubts and unavoidable obstacles. Deeply felt anxieties can be triggered by the Moon transiting the 12th but it is also the time when we are most sensitive to the messages from the unconscious or from universal mind (spirit guides, angels, etc.).

The 12th house archetype includes a naked vulnerability but this nakedness and innocence can be a huge source of power–the ego cannot exist well here.  The conscious and unconscious mind being as one is where, if it’s going to happen, it’s going to be in the 12th house.  Letting to and trusting the divine–having faith–not attempting to control a single thing!  That’s the only way to negotiate the 12th house.  (And I speak, again, from experience having 3 powerful natal planets aspect-ing my lunar nodes.)  Trust me when I speak from firsthand experience about the 12th house.

One benefit of the 12th house is that we can see humor in the chaos if we can just “go with it” without the ego expressing anything.  My sister said to me a little while ago as we spoke by phone about some difficulty I am personally experiencing these words:  “…it’s all in the mind.”  Hearing that from her when I actually teach this stuff–at first i wanted to cry and then after a few moments burst out laughing at the ludicrous reality and non-reality of that little comment.  So there’s a little 12th house joke for ya’.

It is also thought that the life-force seems to be a bit diminished in the 12th house; so we may find a weakened immune system when this house is active.  It is thought that the body’s natural defenses to bacteria is lowered.
Along with the 4th and the 8th houses, the 12th forms what is called the OCCULT TRIANGLE and favors mysticism and as mentioned psychic sensitivities are acute here:  i.e. the claire sisters (clairvoyance, clairaudience, and clairsentience).  Moon moving through the 12th house is a good time to meditate and to divine information i.e. to do “readings” and spirit message work.

Sorrow and unhappiness through confinement is an archetype well-known in this house so feelings of entrapment and/or mental bondage can happen if this house is not being negotiated well;  those feelings come from ego and the flip side of that coin is spirit.  This, too, is the house of ‘hidden enemies’ it is said and this comes from the abuse of drugs or fantasy and then one feels that suicide is the way to escape the difficult feelings that can arise here.

We also hear of the 12th house as being the house of karma–mostly that which is created from the conflict between ‘my will’ versus ‘Divine Will’; thus we also hear that the 12th house is the house of ‘surrender’ or letting go’.

Moon in the 12th adds to the intense fluctuation of emotion and a person feeling the effects of the Moon moving through their 12th house can feel lost, vulnerable and unsupported. This may, of course, be real or it may be imaginary and it relates usually to family since the Moon rules Cancer and the 4th house of the ‘home’ and ‘family’.   So what is the answer to these feelings?  Well, the opposite of Moon is Saturn which relates to boundaries and there must be a willingness to let go of people, even family.

Personally, I find that to balance out my 12th house which contains Cancer with Leo is to turn to the polarity–6th house and Capricorn with Aquarius.  Often times, for me, that means writing–such as writing this blog post today!

Jupiter will remain in my 12th intensifying and expanding all my 12th house natal energy, so as for me Luna’s exit tomorrow morning will not be the end of it for me, but perhaps the emotional aspect will decline a bit.  Jupiter hangs out in my 12th house until next summer — what with its retrograde business and all that jazz.  They said Jupiter is the planet of luck, good fortune and I’m ready for some (more) of that! 🙂  Meanwhile, counting blessings, feeling grateful in all ways that I can and yep–work and boundaries!  Writing always helps and one of my natal 12th house planets is transiting my 3rd right now–writing therapy but always with humanitarian flare is how it goes for me.

( By the way sister, if you are reading this, when Jupiter entered my 12th house is when we became roommates. )

And I offer this to others with a loaded 12th house (like myself) where Jupiter may also be transiting with the Moon today.  Or for anyone who may find this post on the search engines in an effort to understand the Moon, the 12th house and Lunar Transits, especially when the Moon moves through the 12th house!

May something here help you with self-understanding. Amen!

When the Moon Transits the 8th House

Moon in the 8th House

Blending with the Moon are the archetypes of Pluto/Scorpio.  Deep waters!  The 8th is ruled by Pluto/Scorpio after all and so here we could have double feelings… like a double Moon … or at least double water!  Okay so what’s that mean?  Emotion—water is emotion—and the 8th house with the Moon is like sink or swim!  I can write this with a certain amount of emphasis and… duh, emotion as the Moon is in my 8th house today and Luna is rubbing shoulders with the South Node of the Moon as well as Uranus.  In my way of seeing it, this configuration could trigger past life (South Node) and subconscious (Uranus) issues no matter what house your Moon is in– the unconscious could become conscious with an emotional twist.  The universal alignment of a triple conjuction with SN, URANUS and MOON is happening for all of us right now–no matter what house your Moon is in, transiting Uranus and the South Node of the Moon are with it.  Anybody besides me having flashbacks today?

8th House Lunar Transit

Well, let’s stick with the archetype of Luna in the 8th for now in order that this post is consistent with the other Moon transit houses posts.  Merging with someone or some ‘thing’ is a typical desire in the 8th.  Here’s an example.  I know someone who merges with information and excludes everyone and everything that does not fit with it.  This person will read a book and make it a bible and get really righteous about it and become so ‘at one’ with the book that she does whatever the book says, giving power over to it in the process of merging wholly with it.  People will do the same with other people too—obsessed with the beloved ‘other’ to the unreasonable exclusion of everyone else and won’t even listen to what others have to say about the beloved.  Well, that’s some of that Pluto ruler of the 8th house and ruler of Scorpio archetype.   The person reading the book wants to become the book itself and/or the author and the relationship obsessed person wants to possess or be possessed.  Those things are possible in the 8th house.  That type of merging fills an emotional need and the Moon is all about the emotions and needing to feel secure.

The 8th house relates to joint finances and ‘other people’s money’ also so there may be some emotional triggers involving people you owe money to or vice versa.

This house is thought to relate to ‘the shaman’ and ‘the paranormal’ and then also ‘death’.  It is the house of rebirth and regeneration and the Moon moving through here would be helpful if you would work on self-healing efforts.  It’s deep; remember?  Why not go with it?  Use that depth for healing.  What kind of self-healing?  Answer:  any kind–physical, emotional or spiritual.  Luna will move out in a few days so why waste the available vibe when the Moon is there in the 8th.

Key words with a lunar transit of the 8th are Deepening, Healing and Undercurrents of energy.

The Moon moving through the 8th will seek some type of deep bonding—just don’t toss everybody else out of your life when you bond with a person, place or thing!

The Moon here will want to go into some type of ‘self-protection’.  I am laughing at an example of this.  I feel ultra-sensitive now with Luna in my 8th.  Someone in the woman’s locker room made a remark about how she could walk out without a bra because she was so flat chested but that I (being busty) could never do that.  I cringed but pointed out that I’d come down several bra sizes since I’d been working out and she ran with that claiming how her problem then must be that she works out too much. Yeah, I didn’t want to talk about it anymore and hurried up my locker room routine although knowing I’m sensitive today just smiled—she didn’t mean anything unkind I’m sure. There were two others in the shower that I thought best to avoid and walked out with my hair not dried just to… well, to do the “self-protection” thing that is typical of an 8th house response.  “Moody isolation” goes along with the whole “self-protection” thing as far as an 8th house archetype.  And the Moon wants to feel secure and safe and happy and therefore self-protective isolation due to heightened emotional sensitivity is the 8th house Lunar response to that.

The 8th house is an emotionally difficult house along with the 4th and the 12th.  These 3 houses have been given a name—the Terminal Triangle—which rules the disillusion of energy and physical death.  Yeah, there’s that D word that nobody wants to hear.

On a spiritual level the 8th house will show us the struggle between soul and personality or between the spiritual life and the material life.

Also if there is any possibility of losing a loved one or even an X-loved one (my X-husband of 20 year and father of my 3-daughters  is in the hospital with severe heart and lung problems), this can lead to deep feelings of loss.

There also may be an emotional feeling involved with wishing to contact a loved one through mediumship when the Moon passes through your 8th house—you may dream of a loved-one who has crossed over to the other side at this time as well.

A Moon in the 8th is a highly sensitive placement or transit and when the Moon moves through your 8th house, it’s good to remember  and accept that death and loss on any level is a natural part of life.

Tomorrow my Moon moves into my 9th house.  I’ll see you in the 9th if you’re following.  🙂

(If you want to know where your Moon is, you can find out by casting a chart at www.astro.com if you know your date, time and place of birth.)

When the Moon transits the 6th House

Moon in the 6th house

Back at it!  Blogging the transiting Moon through the 12 houses.  Using my own lunar transit as example but describing the typical energy/ emotional needs and moods common to lunar movement through that house.  Houses, as I’ve been blogging, relate to a particular area of life and the Moon energy relates to yeah, exactly that:  emotional needs, moods and security issues.  So essentially, I’m describing the area of the life that will be stimulated by Moon energy as the Moon moves through that house of the zodiac.

We’re now at house 6 with the Moon-House blog posts and if you’ve been following, every few days the Moon stimulates a different area of life… an area that is common to humanity; a shared reality.  Astrologer Steven Forrest says that we ARE our signs and we DO our houses.  Houses are something we all ‘do’.  For example, we all have a physical self (1st House), we all deal with values and resources (2nd house), we all want to communicate, be heard and satisfy our curiosity (3rd house) and so forth.

Common life themes–that describes the houses.

So now we are House 6 for the purposes of this blog.  And my own Moon is transiting through this house which is ruled by Virgo and Virgo relates to details and thoroughness; thus, the recap above.  My Moon made me do it!  It felt emotionally satisfying (Moon) to give that recap–it made my moody Moon happy.  We say the Moon is moody because it changes it’s location so quickly–I mean just a few days in each sign, in each house; it’s pretty fluctuating.  This should give you insight into anyone you know who has a Cancer (ruled by Moon) Sun Sign or a Cancer Moon sign.  But let’s stick to our topic here–the 6th house Lunar transit and let’s talk about the 6th house some more.

The 6th house area of life (common to all of us) relates to service and finding one’s natural skill.  Mentors is another area that relates to 6th house–you know, those people who will take you under their wings and then eventually you take others under yours.

So in this regard we could naturally see how it would be typical to be sensitive (Moon) to respect at this time (as the 6th house relates to mentor/teacher).

The emotional needs when the Moon transits the 6th is to feel competent and useful (sort of what I’m trying to do here now in writing this blog post).  So the psyche at this time would be sensitive to those issues of usefulness and competency.

Going back to the teacher and mentor part of the 6th house common experiences, it wouldn’t be unusual to experience a spontaneous emotional openness to teachers, role models and mentors during this time of the lunar cycle.  In fact, as I pointed out at the beginning of this blog, when you work with the Lunar transit energy in your own life, you can plan when may be a good time to take particular actions.  This transit would be a good time to connect with teachers and mentors, etc.  And then of course, if you knew when your own teacher was having a 6th house transit of the Moon, you may know when they would feel emotionally connected to their students.

Anyway, the 6th house lunar transit is a time when you want to feel useful and really don’t want to engage in meaningless duties–that could feel like enslavement.

Health and nutrition are also common experiences that are tagged and categorized within the 6th house common experiences of life.  The 6th house is known to be the house of the healer for this reason; so there may be an emotional need for reviewing herbs, medicines visiting the physician (if necessary) and this type of thing.  If you are the healer then you will feel even more like contributing to the health and well-being of others at this time.  This is especially true with small animals too, since the 6th house relates to the common human experience of connections with small animals, such as cats and dogs–pets.  You may find a special connection to your pet is typical at this time of the month.

There is a connection of the 6th house to ‘small community’–like neighbor with and S and the end.   The small neighborhood–doing something that the neighbors may appreciate.

One last thing–and I should have been adding this to every post thus far.  Lunar energy is very PSYCHIC energy and therefore one would tend to be very intuitive or psychic about the area of their life (the house) that the Moon transits.  So for example, more intuitive/psychic about the physical self as the Moon transits the 1st house and more intuitive/psychic about money, what is valued, resources during a 2nd house Lunar transit and so forth and so on.

small heartPS– once you learn the houses, planets and signs and the archetype associations, its easy to put them together to divine a chart interpretation.

I just love astrology!

Personal Note:  In my own life, as the Moon has been moving through my 6th house.  The Moon may be moving through a different house for you at this time,  and the way you find out is to create a transit chart at www.astro.com and see which of your houses Moon is currently in.  (See the bottom of the MOON THROUGH THE FIRST HOUSE post for  more info. on how to do that.)   More my personal association with my 6th house lunar transit:  I’ve been caring for 3 cats at one daughters home and another cat (and fish) at my other daughter’s apartment.  And doing healing work with one particular cat who has been ill and getting him to eat and drink.  This very much relates to the 6th house archetype of small pets and healing work of the 6th house. He ate very well yesterday and drank water too and my part in helping with that was very emotionally satisfying.  And also knowing that I am helping my daughters.  The feeling that I had went something like, ‘Even if other area of my life may be failing or even if nothing else comes together for me, this is one thing that I can do to be of service and I don’t care about anything else right now’.  I have also had a health concern of my own that has magnified since Luna entered my 6th; and while this is nothing serious, the emotions are tied to it right now.  Enough said.  Anyway, since the Moon entered my 6th, it has been acutely emotionally satisfying to feel how useful I have been to both of my daughters and also to my grandson who I’ve helped by getting him to his high school activities.  It isn’t hard to see the 6th house connection.

The Moon doesn’t move into my next house, the 7th until tomorrow afternoon.  If I can personally relate any more 6th house lunar transit examples, I will come back and post those below.  Otherwise, see you in the 7th house soon!

When the Moon Transits the 5th House

Moon in the 5th HouseWhen the Moon transits the 5th house you may want to take a break from your routine.  The energy of the 5th house supports a pleasurable time.  This is what will satisfy the emotions and help you to feel happy and secure.  The moody Moon will also seek out bonds with children typically at this time or for some folks the attention will be focused on the hobby or some creative pursuit.

As the Moon visits the Leo/Sun house (the 5th) the emotional nature will be sensitive to feelings of being appreciated.

There will typically be an emotional need for some type of self-expression.  (I am writing this blog when the Moon is in the 5th house in my chart… I also wrote my weekly newsletter today which are both types of self-expression in harmony with Luna in my 5th house.)

When the Moon moves through your 5th house, it is good to not give the opinions of others too much power.

You may find yourself wanting to be spontaneous–go for it!  Taking a vacation from everyday life–I’ll say it again.  Break routines!  That will make you happy during these few days of the month.  The less you do out of your routine, the more you achieve!

PERSONAL NOTE:  The 5th house is the house of “children” and this week I’ve been in touch with my daughters more than usual due to (what I call) ‘cat duty’; caring for their feline family members while they are away.  One of the cats is sick and requires some extra attention.  In any event, I’ve been on the phone with them more than normal, since the Moon has moved through my 5th house.  I also am taking a break from my normal routine in another way; shopping in different stores, and spending time in places that I don’t normal spend time.  All of this is in harmony with my 5th house Moon right now.

I spent some time on a creative pursuit this morning that was also not typical behavior for me.  I can really “feel” that whole 5th house lunar connection right now.

When the Moon Transits the 4th House

Moon in the 4th HouseWhen the Moon transits your 4th house–hang on Snoopy, hang tough.  That was yesterday, for me—the Moon was moving through my 4th house.  I’ve got some perfect examples of this transit for you.  First let me list the typical areas of life that get triggered as a Moon moves through house 4.  Home is the key here and by the way the Moon actually rules this house and that makes this particular transit a strong one—like a double dose of Moon energy.  Decorating the home—any kind of project involving home at all actually would be typical.  Moving furniture, cleaning, and since the 4th house relates to “family”, those ties may be active. Moon rules Cancer and relates to family, nurturing, feelings, emotion, moods, home, soul, the past, ancestors, parents, childhood, self-image, housing, subconscious and midnight (nadir).  This area of the chart is also called the IC…. it’s from Latin —Imum Coeli (Latin for “bottom of the sky”.

Since the 4th house is the “midnight” or lowest point of the chart deep soul or subconscious issues apply here as well.  The ambiance of the home would be highlighted as well…. the mood or atmosphere of the home or where one lives.  [Where one resides and one’s home are not always the same place]

Like house 12, this area of one’s life is another where the soul desire is to withdraw more deeply into a place of safety and security—into one’s self.  Issues with “parents” or “childhood” may be triggered.  The 4th house relates to the foundation of one’s being.

Issues or concerns about housing situations would typically come up at this time of the month more than any other time. It’s also a time when one recalls one’s ancestors and reaching back to connect with them in some way.  Questions of the mind and heart such as, “Who is my family?” and “Where is my home; where do I belong?” would motivate one’s feeling nature.  A double Moon time is an intense “feeling” time.

PERSONAL NOTE:  It was unexpected and at the time I’d forgotten about the Moon and the houses.  I’d been considering moving a portable desk that I wasn’t using and that was taking up too much room in my closet for days—weeks actually.  Finally I got the big awkward thing down the stairs and loaded into the car along with my gear for the YMCA for the workout the followed.   Later in the day I did some reorganizing in that closet and ran the sweeper over the carpet and cleaned the bathroom.   I mention those details because they relate to typical 4th house activities being simulated by a Moon transit as mentioned above.

I drove to the storage unit, raised the door, saw my “stuff” and broke out in unexpected tears followed by overwhelming feelings and thoughts.  “What am I doing with my life? Where am I going to live and when?  Where do I fit in?  Where do I even ‘want’ to live, even if I had all the money in the world?”  All of that was followed by “I can’t believe I’m at this place again with all my stuff in storage.”

I cried even more thinking of how optimistic I was feeling at the time things were loaded in and noted how some of the boxes and belongings has shifted and slid from their neat stacks since the day they were so carefully and confidently placed!  Every emotion that I’d been holding together came undone and I bawled like a baby for goodness sake!

Yep, there it is Moon moving through the 4th house—a perfect example!  And right on time.  The rest of the day it felt like someone had punched me in the stomach.  Believe it or not I think I cried while doing laps but the tears, if any, would have blended with the water certainly nobody could see my face anyway.  By the time I was through the 48 laps that I swam, I did feel better.  Exercise always helps@!

I got to bring in a moment of homespun ambiance experienced later that night.  After I got my grandson back from band practice which I stayed to watch since that always cheers me there was door slamming at around 11 PM just as I was trying to let the day go—I live temporarily with my sister and niece.  Somebody was trying to make a point to the other and a good slam of a door is how those two do it around here which I’m sure the neighbors in this building also appreciate!  Yep, Moon moved through my 4th house alright!

Happy that the Moon has now advanced to my 5th house now.  Will be back to blog my way through the 5th house Lunar transit in a day or so.

When the Moon transits the 2nd and 3rd Houses

Moon Transits 2nd and 3rd House

What is the purpose or benefit of knowing the houses in astrology and which house your Moon is in at any given time of the month? Divination and Divine Timing — to know astrology is to have a handle on that, as least to some extent.  Yes, the Moon moves quickly and goes through each house once a month.  What is a house?  It’s an area of life.  And the Moon relates to our sense of happiness, feelings of security.  If we work in harmony with astrology, we know ourselves and what times of the month are typical for particular feelings to surface or to be more prominent or prevalent than other times.  Why not work with that knowledge—be in cooperation with the natural energy of the Moon and the Psyche and Life Itself?

Examples?  Why try to deal with money issues when the Moon is in your 11th house?  You natural inclination would be to perhaps visit with friends or do other 11th house things.  Suppose you have a health issue and you want to know what day this month would be good to make the doctor appointment?  When the Moon transits the 6 house would be typically the best time because the emotional/feeling nature will be in harmony with that.

I found this system valid for myself when beginning to notice one time of the month—every month—when I wanted to just disappear and not speak to anyone!  Whenever this happened, this feeling, I’d look to see where the Moon was.  Each and every time it was in my 12th house.  Yeah, I began to see a pattern.  So why not work with it more consciously? Thus, my reason for these posts on the Moon’s monthly transits through the houses!

Now that the method behind this madness has been revisited, my 2nd and 3rd house have recently had a visit from the transiting Moon.

We look first of all to the archetype of the house itself.  The 2nd house (ruled by Venus and Taurus) relates to money, what is valued, self-worth, self-reliance and the 3rd house (ruled by Mercury and Gemini) relates to communication, conversation, left brain activity, thinking, business, short trips, correspondence, neighbors and siblings.

As mentioned in the previous post about the 1st House, there are other influences affecting how that Moon is going to express—namely, the other planets and signs in your particular house and aspects the Moon may be making to other planets in the chart.  But let’s stick with the basics for the purpose of this blog post.

MOON TRANSIT OF THE 2ND HOUSE

When the Moon transits through your 2nd house, it’s a good time to pay attention to money concerns and where you stand with your monthly budget.  If you deal with that, you will find it to be very satisfying and boost your feelings of security.  This is a good time to come up with ideas to bring in extra cash as well—the Moon’s energy will naturally be focusing your psyche in this area anyway, so go with it.

A 2nd house lunar transit is a good time to review why you are worthy and contemplate what it is you really value and how you offer value to the world—this type of pep talk will enhance your feelings of security and happiness.

Review your resources, think of all the opportunities you have to provide for your self and how you are doing so; this, too, will help your mood.  Remind yourself how you have proven yourself ‘to’ yourself, no matter what others may think.  Think of everything you have achieved and then pay your bills knowing whatever you send out returns to you multiplied—make this the mantra.

Personal Note:  When the Moon moved through my 2nd house a few days ago, I looked at my own money situation and this is something that is always on the mind anyway.  Why? Because my BIRTH MOON is in my 2nd house so this is a life-long consideration for me.  My work was busy on the 2nd day that the Moon moved through my 2nd house money came to me from another source as well.

MOON TRANSIT OF THE 3RD HOUSE

What makes you happy at this time? What brings you feelings of security and comfort?  Well, it has to do with learning something, teaching something and speaking, finding the voice somehow.  You may be sensitive to tones in other people’s voices at this time and the tone of your own voice may be very self-revealing when Luna visits your 3rd house.  Your curiosity could be high and you may find that Google is your best friend and your mood would promote research of some kind—data collection.  Those things could be very satisfying and the Moon energy would encourage that.  Speaking up for yourself, saying what’s on your mind—this too would be comforting for you.  This is the time of the month to do it—it will feel great to say it like it is!

You may feel inclined to make phone calls and answer Emails and connections with neighbors or siblings would be gratifying at this time.

Personal Note:  My curiosity involved something more or less physical—I wondered if I could start jogging but the Moon was right on top of Mars and it activated my inner warrior who wanted to “Run, Forrest, Run”. [Quote from movie:  Forrest Gump/Tom Hanks] Also, I did communicate via Email at length with several students.  I’ll also mention that I did receive more than usual amount of Emails from people asking about the psychic class.  Also, I felt very drawn to go to the library several times as the Luna ran through my 3rd house, but just never made it there.  If I had, I’d have really enjoyed it or the Moon would have supported that emotionally.  Then again, I’m always happy at the Library.  A reason for that is that my birth Mercury, ruler of the 3rd is IN the 3rd–so library ‘stuff’ is strong with me anyway, all the time.  See how this works?

I hope my sharing my own lunar transits are helpful to the reader and that my posts of the Moon’s monthly movement through the houses are helpful and have piqued the reader’s interest in the valuable subject of astrology.

It is, in my opinion, such a valuable thing to know to aid in self-understanding but also in understanding others and working in harmony with them.

The Moon is currently in my 4th house for the next day or so…  but that’s for the next blog post.   Yay!  I’ve now caught up with my own Moon!

When the Moon Transits Your 1st House

When The Moon Travels through Your First House

Moon in the First House

Intention:   to blog the Moon through the houses starting with the First House Moon and starting now and to use my chart as an example but being as objective as possible.

So let’s start with the meaning of the Moon itself and recall that it resonates with feelings and emotions and in the sky it changes its amount of visible light through its monthly phase. But for the purpose of the blog for the next 30 days, my plan is to simply discuss the houses.  (We’ll leave Moon phases, signs and aspects out of  it for now.)

For example, if you see your Moon traveling through your second house, a way to work in harmony with the Moon’s energy in order to feel … well, to feel harmonious or  to be in synch with your emotional nature and in order to enhance happiness, those 2 or 3 days of each month would be a good time put your finances in order.

That’s going to be the underlying connection in the psyche’ anyway (2nd house/finances), why not use this knowledge and cooperate with the energy?  During the few days each month that the Moon is moving through your seventh house, for example, you will likely be drawn to giving some quality time to your relationship.  If you know your relationship partner’s chart, you might imagine just how beneficial it would be know when the Moon is moving through their seventh house too!

Timing for scheduling family gatherings, career presentations and many other areas of your life can be enhanced through knowing when the Moon moves through your houses.

Even if you don’t schedule an event or activity based on your Moon transit, you can at least understand your own energy patterns and use the map of your chart to know yourself and other people better.  Of course, that happens with all the planets and the whole chart too.  The Moon is 1 out of 12; but it’s an important one—our feelings of security and happiness are connected to the Moon energy.

I love astrology because there’s no other system like it in which we can reap the benefits of consciously working in cooperation with natural forces! These forces are those that are recognized as we begin to awaken and as we really observe our life.  Astrology is a structure that helps us see the order of those forces. Once realized through astrology, we can get in touch with that energy and work in harmony with it instead of struggling against it, enhancing self-understanding, understanding of others… and well… so many other benefits…but mostly we get those types of jaw-dropping types of realizations that enhance the feeling of magic and awe for the universe and divine forces.

Getting back to the Moon now… I like to think of the Moon as one giant crystal in the sky that affects our emotions, our heart… our soul.

Astrologer, Steven Forrest, is often quoted as saying, “The Sun is the Secret of sanity and the Moon is the Secret of Happiness.”

Happiness is an emotion, after all, and so it’s right up the Moon’s legendary alley.

I won’t spend many more paragraphs describing the Moon’s archetype assuming you wouldn’t have read this far if you didn’t already have at least a small “feel for” the Moon (pardon the pun).

But what about the FIRST HOUSE and when the Moon Moves through it?  How does the Moon moving through the FIRST HOUSE area of our life affect our heart, our soul, our feelings, our security and our happiness?

I think it’s fair to think of EGO when you think of the first house.  We need our ego’s after all and if we give a few days a month to acknowledge it and appease them, well… that doesn’t seem like too much to ask.  This area of our life relates to the physical body, self-image, physical accomplishments… we’re very aware of how we are seen or viewed when the Moon moves through our firs house. Yet, sometimes we want to keep a mask on and keep people at a distance at this time too and that would be typical.

We’re talking about an outward area of our life, our physical issues including appearance, and instinctual behaviors –the Moon is not about thinking, it’s about responding from the heart, the soul, and the emotional center that is triggered resulting in outward physical behaviors.

When the Moon moves through anyone’s first house (and it does this once a month) it triggers a Mars/Aries warrior within and so there may be  a competitive edge or quality to one’s emotions and an attraction to some type of physical endeavor.  On the other side of the coin repressed anger could surface as the Moon moves through the first house as well.  The paragraph below is optional and not necessary for our purposes but is only for the interested reader.  Feel free to skip over the next paragraph if it sounds confusing:

OPTIONAL PARAGRAPH:  If a person knows the sign on the cusp of that house as well as any other signs in the first house, this gets blended in or factored in with the core Moon and 1st house Combo energy.  Not to mention—but I will—the aspects the Moon makes to other planets  and the phase that the Moon itself happens to be in as it moves through first house.  All that plays into the outward behaviors that are possible due to the Moon’s transit there.  You sort of blend it all into a pot like soup but some chucks are bigger than others but let’s not go there now.   I need to keep things simple for this blog—just the house and the Moon are the main course for my purpose here.

If you know someone who suddenly wants their space and to keep you at a distance and goes suddenly for a “new look” in their physical appearance, Luna may be moving through their first house. New ‘anything’ relates to the first house and so does freedom and independence.

Some things you may want to do when the Moon moves through your first house appearance factors like getting a haircut or a new hairdo or a new outfit—anything that would enhance the appearance to change the self-image would be in line with the energy.  Sometimes we need to feel a sense of freedom and have a desire to be alone—Aries, after all, is about freedom and independence and it rules the first house naturally.

The first house can be like the first hour of the morning or the first few moments—there’s a feeling of fragility as one comes to this point of awakening and you need space.  The spirit here wants unrestrained joy and unrestrained freedom.  If there was a time of the month in which we would be rediscovering ourselves and changing our image to match that new discovery, it would be when the Moon transits the first house.

Relationships feel more strained at this time—other people may not understand this new image you create or that you suddenly need more freedom to discover and express the next new aspect of yourself in the world.

Any needy people in your life are likely to feel disappointed with your energy response to them at this time.

There actually are times when to be free and alone is more important than anything else—that would be a Lunar first house time.

We need this time to consider our own self-image and possibly try those new changes:  a different outfit than you normally wear, new glasses or the new hairdo.

But whether you redress yourself in some way or if it’s only a desire to change the physical appearance, you will likely be asking those questions that go along with that kind of thing such as, “Who am I? And What am I doing here?

Personal Observations of the First House Moon Transit

  • The Moon crossed over into my first house on my daughter’s birthday and I wore my hair down that day (at least partially).  Just for the record as it relates to this First House Moon transit, I always wear my hair up in a ponytail.  Actually I look different and feel different with the hair down.
  • I purchased a pair of weight lifting gloves (because I was starting to get callouses on my hands from the gym) and while I’m not sure yet how beneficial they are, I notice that this makes me feel more like a more serious exerciser as far as my self-image is concerned.  I didn’t think about that connection until just now–i bought the gloves for practical reasons but I think it relates to my current first house lunar transit.
  •  I made a blog post about who I am and what I’m doing here when the Moon just entered my first house so that may have also been a lunar effect–CLICK TO READ.
  • I notice that I’ve felt more self-assured as I relate to others these past few days—more than usual which could be part of this whole blend of energy with Mar/Aries being the natural ruler of the first house.
  • The opposite polarity to house 1 is house 7.  House 7 is the house of relationships – the opposite house; so one affects the other due to its opposite polarity.  Relationships over these past few days have definitely changed the way I am seeing other people as well as myself!

If I think of any more personal examples to share that relate to the Moon transiting my first house, I will come back later  to add those to this post.  But what about your personal moon transit?

The Magician of the Tarot Gives Insight about Finances

01_The_MagicianI drew this card the other day when asking for insight about finances:  The Magician.  The first thing I’ve always thought when this card shows up has to do with one creating one’s own reality. I’ve softened that over time and think of it as more having to do with how one chooses to experience one’s reality (or transcending reality!)  But it’s a balancing act since seeing life as magical even when one level of our mind would be telling us it apparently sucks!  Yeah, a real bummer–that is.

Sometimes I think of this card in terms of that phrase, “as above, so below”–and that always refers to astrology.  I mean just look at the card itself and how the magician is pointing to the sky with one hand and to the ground with the other.  Maybe this card means something like, “Don’t ask me, consult astrology for that answer!”  LOL

I don’t know what others would have to say about the card of the Magician coming up for a financial question–the authors of tarot books generally give good marks for finances when the card comes up in  a reading about money.  One author describing  The Magician gave this interpretation regarding finances–and I will have to paraphrase because I’m going from memory:  too much money or success can cover up, screw up or confuse one’s values.   That’s probably a good point to consider.

Financial concerns do seem to keep me on the higher path I suppose and when money is rolling in, that feeling of… well, lets say humility can suffer a bit.  I don’t know if these thoughts are valid insights to apply to The Magician card or maybe that’s just ‘me’.

The energy seems to need be be kept in balance–that’s another feeling-type insight that the card conveys to me personally.

As I contemplate this card further to squeeze every bit of divination out of it, I find that the card does seem to have a strong connection to my financial life. Financial results do come as a result of what we’d call “confident prayer” or on a weaker day as a result of sending out an S.O.S. because the rent is coming due and funds are low.  Usually I can connect incoming numbers with a recent prayer, invocation or sometimes just being generous to others does it—creates some meaningful financial magic.

I really do see the financial ups and downs as a significant and intricate part of my spiritual path.  I suppose I can make peace with the fact that if I was rolling in greenbacks that it may stroke too much ego or confuse my values–yet, I think my values are pretty strong; but I still get the point.

I don’t ask for more than I need usually and find my desires are usually met and then some (I’d like it all to work a bit faster but then again it would seem less magical when my financial needs are met and exceeded in significant timing).  That may be because usually when I set my mind and  heart onto the task (as in the image on the card of the magician who has all his ‘tools’ at the ready), there’s one thing I always add to my intention and that is “This or something more or better” .  Why limit one’s self or The Divine– ?

Probably so much more one could say about The Magician and Finances but time for the next appointment….

ADDENDUM:  Oh, and as far as the Magician saying, “What the heck do I know?–go check your astrology chart”, at the present time Transiting Venus is merged with (conjunct) Transiting Jupiter–both planets have money associations (archetype meanings).  Venus rules the 2nd house of money and Jupiter makes everything lucky and expansive.  Venus kisses Jupiter (as above, so below) and shazam!  It might just be a good day to play the lotto!  Just sayen’.
